Carpet is really interesting. I lived in a trailer home. I didn't know this but when they build trailer homes the carpet is layed before any of the walls are built. So when remodeling, pulling out the carpet left a 2" gap in the walls. Wall to wall carpeting is pretty awful, not sanitary, even with a good underpad, dirt just works itself down. Good Morning. I like video's like this to because it give you a good ideal what works good in a van build and what to expect in cleaning and maintaining things. I would like to get out and work on my build but to my surprise there's 2 inches of snow on the ground and its coming down pretty good out there, so it's just more a coffee day for me. Thank's for sharing and take care out there.
That was helpful thank you! I'm going to take up the dirty stock rugs that came with this old van and get things much cleaner in here. Hadn't even thought of that as an option. Thanks again. I hope you're enjoying yourself today.
Hi there🙋, nice video. On Friends of Anthony, van dweller. He recently made a cake, in a pot on his gas stove. You could bake a cake like that. Just a suggestion. 😉 It's in his recent video, where he made a birthday 🎂, for himself. Glad to see you, all better. I like Jasmine rice. The aroma, is pleasant. Here's a thought, what if you put bread slices, in Ziploc bags and put them, in your freezer or fridge. This way, it doesn't spoil so quickly. 😊
But first, coffee. Your tagline. ❤. It’s great the way you keep so clean and we fully understand how important that is inside a small space. Keep on rolling the living room. Susan.

Sorry to taunt you with fresh coffee. Wind was a big reason why I designed my kitchen to be inside. If you have a portable battery, you might look into an electric kettle. I bought a small one and it works reasonably well.
Sounds like you had a very productive day, always a good feeling to accomplish the silly stuff in life. Keep on keeping on! Nice to see what goes on in your day.

I think the yoga mat is a great idea. If you need another one, check thrift stores for cheaper used ones. Bread will last longer if you keep it in the refrigerator.
I've had several different vans & have always ended up ordering from local auto parts the thick commercial grade rubber cargo mat. Just checked American Van website & the universal full 69 x123 mat is $148 which seems like a lot but you are never going to have to replace it, That yoga mat looks like it will work for awhile. Safe travels 👍
Thank you for some awesome tips today. The yoga mat was a good idea for the floor. I used foam rubber mats that go together like puzzle pieces, and I find them to work well also. I also use vinegar instead of bleach. For me, bleach can cause me to stop breaking. I will have to look around for those types of vegetables. I like the blend and would go well with rice. The soy sauce I will also look for, I am picky when it comes to the wheat and abnormal amounts of salt in soy sauce. It was a nice day, and to spend time with you was awesome. Thank you for sharing, and be safe
Hey Thanks. The frozen veggies were bought at a Grocery Outlet. Most Health Food stores stock a low-sodium Tamari from San-J. Although I’ve never tried the low salt version.
Just sitting in a same size van and always wondering, where do you store all of the stuff you have? A rice cooker, a water cleaning and storage system, new and old jeans and shirts, electrical spares, a fridge plus a freezer room with seamingly endless storage, shoes pots and pans, 12 elephants and two white tigers and the list goes on and on. Sometimes I think you are sitting inside the Titanic or at least the Nautilus and only show random pics of "some kind of" van when you are doing outside footage. Strange, really strange......prosit coffee...
Ahh, now that explains some of the mysteries around this channel....thank you for explanation and have a good, lets say "time" because we all know, this is only relative......
If you're in QZT sometime during high season, there's a vendor on Kuehn (a tools/rockhounding tent on the north side of the street) that has carpet tiles for cheap. I like mine. About a quarter inch thick, rubber backed, and colors other than purple and pink. Dollar Tree sometimes has carpet tiles, too.
You & you dad are geniuses!! I thought we might see sparks... :) .. I love your subtle humor, thanks for the chuckles, Scott :) 💜... I use that carpet that you removed to block weeds in my garden. It's great for that 'cause it lets the water thru, but not the weeds. ... I love the colors on your new rubber carpet. Pinks & purples & all shades of blue are my favorites :)
Now the yoga mat is fully covered with rugs, so all the colors are hidden. I actually sort of liked the purple. But the pink would have bugged me. Plus the pink shows dirt, so better to keep it covered
@@StaticCamperVan - does the new rubber rug help insulate against cold radiating up from the floor? ... I've got layers of rugs on the floor of the main area in my little house, and it makes a world of difference, especially in the kitchen. It hangs out over the foundation about 5-6 feet, facing north-west. It used to just radiate cold, especially during snowy winters. :)
Oh yum, that coffee looks so good. Sure wish it agreed with my stomach. I, too, hate bleach. The yoga mat will be way better, i think. Better cushioning for sure. If you really hate the color, perhaps you could paint it? Yum grilled cheese.
I laid down a couple of thick yoga mats in our rig right before that extreme cold the PNW experienced in December. The mats have really helped both with insulating the floor as well as cutting down on road noise. Mine were gray, thankfully :D
If you think about it the rice cooker jumper your dad told you to do was fine. Your power line is fused so it’s not like you’re running with no fuse in the system. That’s just the rice cooker company protecting themselves. Your Dad was right.
That was a thermal fuse. Different to the over current fuses built into the supply. I agree it's safe to use but I'd never leave it unattended while powered.
Hey Scott, was just hanging out with u in ur live and decided to check out this video too. Wishing my minivan floor was even where I could get those mats too n make it look that nice.

Just a couple thoughts. How about a swing away hitch? Its a platform that attaches to your hitch (which you might have to install one) that you can mount stuff to and it swings out of the way when you open the back door. Second, have you thought about a slow cooker or crockpot?
A swing away hitch would be an inconvenience to me. I think it’s easier to get of items I don’t need. A rice cooker can work like a slow cooker so that is one reason I opted for it.
@@StaticCamperVan Well I was kinda thinking the hitch thing would not work for your application but thought I would mention it. Matty Vanhalen (a van dweller) has one which is what made me think of it. I hope to see you work on your sink project when that comes around!
@@StaticCamperVan Actually the one I am thinking of swings away from the doors so you can open both of them. It might be an inconvenience in that you would have to swing the platform out and back again but one would get more space.
Just wanted to say...and granted I don't live in a van....but I am old and getting more limited to what I can handle as far as standing on my feet and trying to make meals for myself. And I know you don't have space for frozen meals........so I wanted to suggest can tuna and can chicken breast. Great source of protein....and if you buy a good brand, it really is tasty. Get the kind with water and not oil.....and rinse them out before you use them. I do that to get rid of excess salt. But you can make sandwiches....add fresh spinach or some other greens....good whole grain bread......and even your cheese you like. I put in walnuts, mayo mixed with plain yogurt, carrots....just whatever you like to make into sandwich or just eat as salad. I love whole grain pita chips with mine.Anyway...just some thoughts. I know you have your own good ideas for meals.....but since you are limited to what you can keep on hand and the frig situation, I thought you might want to try the can meat for protein. Oh...I also put chopped apples in the tuna and chicken mix. And your spice mix would tasted good in there as well. I use Mrs Dash.
I love a good inside day .. repairs, re- organize etc ❤
It’s looking like I’ll have a few more inside days ahead

It hangs out over the foundation about 5-6 feet, facing north-west. It used to just radiate cold, especially during snowy winters. :)
Yes, the yoga mat seems to block a little cold. It’s thin rubber so probably won’t do much in real cold conditions. But I’m pleased with it so far
In heaven .
Oh yum, that coffee looks so good. Sure wish it agreed with my stomach. I, too, hate bleach. The yoga mat will be way better, i think. Better cushioning for sure. If you really hate the color, perhaps you could paint it?
Yum grilled cheese.
The yoga mat is totally covered with rugs. It looks nicer and feels better under foot
@@StaticCamperVan Sounds like a great improvement and reasonable, too. Great job!
💜 you make me smile…
Oh ,Yoga mat is very Good Idea 💡👍✌️👌🙌🙏🤞🇺🇲🌅🌄🌞oh well it will be under your new rug!👍
I laid down a couple of thick yoga mats in our rig right before that extreme cold the PNW experienced in December. The mats have really helped both with insulating the floor as well as cutting down on road noise. Mine were gray, thankfully :D
Good to hear the yoga mats are working that well
And was also glad to reuse what I already had on hand.
I thought I saw you have 3 coffees. I love my rice cooker although it has a non stick finish. May be I can find a stainless steel replacement bowl.
Was it three coffees? Yes, there are lots of stainless replacement bowls on offer for rice cookers.
👋 Scott 😊
I just bought an electric lunchbox, and it is blowing my mind, just had cheesey rice and Brussels sprouts and it was fan Fu***ng tastic😉
Cool. I went back and forth about buying this rice cooker or to go with an electric lunchbox.
Good to know the electric lunchboxes work well.
@@StaticCamperVan the one I got works really well 😊 it took 45 minutes but totally worth it, it is like 300watt😇
Also I had to open the slider door, it got pretty steamy 😁😁😁
Cool
If you think about it the rice cooker jumper your dad told you to do was fine. Your power line is fused so it’s not like you’re running with no fuse in the system. That’s just the rice cooker company protecting themselves. Your Dad was right.
That was a thermal fuse. Different to the over current fuses built into the supply.
I agree it's safe to use but I'd never leave it unattended while powered.
@@maxwiz71 I agree.
cup of coffee ! ☕️🍯🍶🏖
I think you need another cup of coffee 💕🌼🌺🌼🌺🌼🌺🌼☕️
Don’t mind if I do!

That type of hitch is a bad idea in my opinion. It blocks the use of the vans back doors. But some people don’t mind that aspect.
@@StaticCamperVan Actually the one I am thinking of swings away from the doors so you can open both of them. It might be an inconvenience in that you would have to swing the platform out and back again but one would get more space.
You can open from the outside but not so easy from the inside
You could cut up those shirts and weave a new rug.
There's an idea
