    these old interviews of how beautiful & well spoken & articulate she was is even more saddening because with todays standards in women, you wonder if people can ever go back to being like this?

    • @LANORDA9
      @LANORDA9 5 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      She was a gorgeous, brilliant and talented woman, but she was not free to exist as she was. Respectability politics and the preoccupation with image, acceptance, and keeping up appearances played a part in destroying many famous people in the past - from Marilyn Monroe and Dorothy Dandridge to Judy Garland and Whitney Houston. No... women should not go back to this. These illusions of the past played a huge role in the problems that exist today. Problems never look as bad at the beginning stages as they will begin to look after years and decades of leaving a problems unacknowledged or unsolved. Today's issues were brewing decades ago. Whitney's demise is quite symbolic of this.

      @@LANORDA9 I think the problem is who her manager, or lack thereof was. Had she had someone seriously looking out for her, but she was so successful at a very early age, nobody probably thought she needed coaching & guidance. Who would dare tell her to watch her back, that Clive D. was a dangerous individual & tell her to get out while she still can.

      @@LANORDA9. When Whitney said it was too much to live up too I believed that. Lazy ppl today complain dressing up period. But to do it every day and sing those songs Whitney and Garland had to sing I'm sure was a lot. But that wasn't her demise, ppl were, and sadly most of the ppl they exploit are wearing rags

      Did you catch what she said about maintaining control so that this fame doesn’t take her around the world and back in 80 days and she becomes someone else.
      She kind of predicted her own future because she did go around the world and come back completely different from the Whitney Houston that we all knew in love wow just let that sink in for a moment.

    This world needed but never did deserve this family. Thank you Cissy for being such a pivotal vessel and for sharing *all* of your gifts with the world. Cissy was an angelic angel that just kept on giving! From her very own classic records, training and inspiring her nieces Dionne Warwick and Dee Dee Warwick, her daughter Whitney Houston, her work with the Sweet Inspirations, Elvis Presley, Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Luther Vandross, and countless others over the years, incredible.
    Cissy's incomparable soprano, her deafening vibrato, as well as her background and vocal arranging skills remained in high demand for more than 70 years. Dionne and Whitney owed it all to Cissy, their voices, their wit, the sophistication, the class was all Emily Cissy Drinkard Houston 101.
    I've never seen a stronger conviction to God and wholesome morals while being so laidback, funky, and cool. Cissy was loved and respected in every room she entered! Cissy gave birth to 3 children, her first born son made it into the NBA, and her first and only daughter would become the best and biggest singer in the world, extraordinary lineage.
    There's so much that could be said but I couldn't say enough how important Cissy's contributions and her faith in God have been to this world. I remember being a kid and listening to Whitney sing gospel and I'd say wow I want to know her God, it was the same God Cissy instilled in her! The impact of the Drinkard Family is dense and it spreads so far, deep, high, and vast. They don't make them like Cissy anymore and they haven't for awhile.
    Though sadden, I'm grateful to have bared witness to Cissy's anointing and I celebrate her brilliance and blazingly bright light. Heaven is missing one less angel. I don't know what's up there, but I know that Cissy is already singing with Jesus. Cissy Houston, dearest, you'll be forever missed and heavy on the hearts of so many. Love always ❤🙏

      What angel would have brow beaten her child so badly as to let her know she would NEVER accept her sexuality?! She caused Whitney's depression. Leading to her drug & alcohol abuse. The world blamed Bobby Brown. BS Whitney was a known cokehead in her modeling days. That is Cissy's fault. I'm tired of people acting like she was a Saint. "Angelic Angel" my aching a$$.

    I REALLY REALLY REALLY hate that is (black ppl) criticize Whitney for not singing enough 'black' song. Just because your a black singer/musician doesn't mean you have to only sing hip-hop soul or R&B. There are many blk country singers, jazz, folk, electro, dance, opera, rock, etc. I remember she got nominated at the Soul train music awards and the audience booed her because they said she sings all these 'white pop' songs. That experience really changed the trajectory of her career after that. It hurt her that her own ppl booed her. She was reaching heights and superstardom unheard of. We should have just let her be. She's an amazing vocalist. I for one LOVE her pop catalog😢

    It is very unfortunate how the ending ended. Died of overdosing from illicit drugs and her daughter following her same steps to her demise. Just prior to Whitney's death, she was involved in an illicit unmarried relationship with younger Ray J, who some people thought he was her step son. And much prior to that, she was in a down-low lesbian relationship. The truth hurts, but it's the truth.

      Respectfully I disagree. Let's not spin that narrative especially when Miss Cissy Houston very recently passed away. Whitney always said that her mother was her greatest teacher. My only thing is that I do not believe she did enough to protect her daughter when Whitney was alive (I have read Miss Cissy's book as I'm sure you have) - and yes, Whitney did have a much better and more pleasant singing voice but I think the word 'jealousy' is a stretch...
