Professor Ilan Pappé then joins, diving right into the rapid escalation and exacerbation of Israeli society and the Israeli state’s genocidal desires, first tackling the clear signs of the citizenry’s right-wing turn and the Netanyahu Administration’s messianic nature in the wake of the 2022 elections, before unpacking his thoughts on how the rapid radicalization during Israel’s brutal ethnic cleansing of Gaza (now expanded into a regional conflict) has exposed extensive cracks in the state of Israel. After briefly touching on the role of Israeli’s backlash to Netanyahu’s fascistic judiciary reforms - and the particular dearth of any connection between the violence imposed on Palestinians and the fascism coming home to roost - in demonstrating the precarious state of the country, Professor Pappé steps back to explore this evolution as a natural progression of right-wing colonial ideology in direct conflict with the world it’s invading, bolstered by Israel’s proactive violence in stamping out any conditions for change. Ilan then walks Sam and Emma through the evolution of the super-alliance that backs the Zionist state, exploring the movement’s roots in an Evangelical Christian movement that sought to capitalize on anti-Semitic sentiment and the growing aims of the British Empire, putting together an overwhelmingly powerful coalition before the Jewish community even came to the fore, also looking at the incredible evolution of the Zionist lobby in the United States and how Israel’s ability to stamp out conditions for change extends well beyond its border. After expanding on the ever-growing international backlash to Israel’s genocidal apartheid regime, Pappé dives deep into the need to recenter Palestinian actors in this fight, and what must be done to achieve decolonization in the region as quickly and with as little violence as possible.

Ilan Pappe is an international treasure! He writes history by telling the truth, and those who wish to rewrite history hate him for that.
If you think this Jew hater is an international treasure then I think your level of intelligence and education is of a very low level. Obviously a Islamic death- cult supporter or a western leftie - loony who needs to leave their bedroom.
Thé TRUTH hurts the Zionists and and Historians that write Lies, sadly there's very few Historians and people with so many Wonderful Trais, especially as professor Pappe is Jewish, professor Finklestein and Professor Chomsky are 2 more wonderful souls, obviously all 3 Sacrificed riches for peace, it's a crime not to pray for such people religious or not in my opinion. RIP Aaron Bushnell, Rachel Corrie and everyone else that have strived to stop the Genocide.
No matter who is interviewing Pappe, he commands so much respect that the host becomes chameleon, honoring him with an unusual listening silence! I adore this man. I’d give anything to hear him in person.
Me too, I would give anything to hear him in person and give him a hug.
Great respect for the great and brave historian Ilan Pappé.
Cant miss interview. Clicked on the video immediately upon seeing it. Pappe insights are always eye opening.
Mr Pappe, is not only one of the most influential intellectuals of our times but also one of the greatest humans to stand against injustice by risking so much. I learn something new every time I hear him speak.
Ilan pappe is an amazing person, respect and love
Thank you for hosting the ultimate truth teller/historian, Ilan Pappe!!
Brilliant conversation. And now he is one of Devon's finest!!
Appreciate your raising voice of the voiceless Palestinians
Excellent discussion with
Ilan Pappe. Good questions from Sam and Emma. This was a valuable and timely show. I like the comment by Ilan that politicians are not in touch with the public, but only interested in their own careers. This is at the heart of the current problem, I think.
Ilan Pappe is a gift to humanity! Greetings from Cape Town. 🇿🇦🍉🇸🇩🍉🇿🇦🍉🇸🇩🍉🇿🇦🍉🇸🇩🍉🇿🇦
greetings to cape town ❤
I love this man ❤a man of honor.
Thank you for hosting Ilan Pappe 🙏❤
Great interview, thanks Prof Pappe 🇵🇸
As always Ilan Pappè very good and hopeful analysis, based on his neverending deep analysis of even global actual dynamics .Tanks for this humanistc programme.
Exactly what I've been saying in my letters to Congress for months: if they don't care about genocide overseas how can I believe that they care about my problems? They're only talking to the mirror when they make promises.
What happens to a failed state?
🤞 we find out ✊🇵🇸
America establishment don't care his citizens
Look at the hurricane
They only care about maintaining their empire through selling weapons and destruction
How could you think until now that they care at all about average citizens? They don't care about anything but their own enrichment and greed and are completely subservient to corporate interests. They don't represent you as in most countries of the world the politicians in power don't represent their voters. It was shocking for me too when I realized this, sickening. It made me angry and very sad at the same time.
Incredible conversation, intellectual and human. Prof. Pape is planting and watering seeds that will grow strong for decades. I love hearing him say de colonize along w anti Zionism. Indigenous all over Turtle Island (North America) and the world are in solidarity. Thank you for your important work.
A breath of fresh air, nurturing hopeful, sane. Peace for ALL ❤🙏❤
Incredible historian and personal. Thank you for having him on. It’s interesting that the FBI can question him for several hours but no one in the main stream media can manage to have him on.
Wonderful man
The shocker here, is how come we don't hear this real conversation about the current condition on CNN, or MSNBC? This guy needs to be on mainstream media here.
Because the State Department and Zionist editors don't allow it.
ROFL... rarely ends well... check out CBS's Tony Dokoupil interview of the famous Ta-Nehisi Coates writer. check out Dana Bash and Jake Tapper for other examples. The z/ideology has thoroughly captured MSM.
@@kgriff5537 Is it a shock though? I agree 110%, but it's pretty clear at this point that corporate media does not serve the general population's interests.
I only started watching EI very recently, but it is apparent they are closest thing to a traditional capital "N" news organization as exists these days.
because 2 faced americunts and their greed can't admit to being the responsible party so rather ignore it.
the shocker is how can people like you still be stupid enough to be shocked by america and israeI's complete lack of morals and humanity.
Professor Pappe’s way of reading the history is extraordinary l. Major respect to a man of great honor.
' the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians ' is such an insightful book.
An important reason that Righteous Jews in the tens of thousands oppose the colonial political z/ideology.
If you guys haven't read his book, Biggest Prison on Earth, go read it now. It's unbelievable eye opening and well cited.
I'd recommend starting with The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine before getting to its sequel. Reading them both is more important than the order though. And do check out Rashid Khalidi's The 100 Year War On Palestine. And then keep going, although it will be far more difficult to get other useful titles through your library. These 3 are generally available even in smaller rural libraries, often in audio book and print versions.
Yes excellent books all his books
If I was an Israeli with an option to leave, I would definitely leave. What a miserable existence. I can't imagine feeling safe and sane knowing the army was all of 40 minutes away massacring women and children to secure my "safety"...
Unfortunately they are too brainwashed to leave. I watch an interview with an Israeli who left Israel. And he described that country as a cult. The way they are manipulated from birth, they have no idea that Palestine (Gaza / West Bank) even exists. They don’t talk about so you will not ask questions. And when they leave the country they are casted out, contact with families, friends are lost. Just like a cult. It’s very sad
I wouldn't stay because the IDF has no qualms about massacring their own civilians and hostages. Violence abroad always becomes violence at home. Screw that.
What a great brave man Ilan Pappe is.
Amazing man
Clearing the fog. Thank You!
Thank you Ilan Peppe !
Great report with a great historian and activist!
A brilliant interview and public service - thank you Sam, Emma and Prof. Pappe 🙏

Their original video with Professor Ilan Pappé last year is what made me subscribe to The Majority Report in the first place. Thank you for bringing him on again!
🙏❤️That man needs to be protected ! He is a treasure !
There is no more important thing to know than history, because is the reason and the cause of everything
Love and respect Ilan 🙏💝🙏
While I'm a big supporter of the Harris/Walz team I get very angry that they use far more emotive language when describing Oct 7 trajedy. They only call 41,000 Palestinian deaths a 'human tragedy' as if it were a natural event rather than genocide by the IDF.
More accurately described as the ITF now... you can guess what the T stands for.
Exactly! I don't know why they do that. Is it part of AIPAC instruction or is it just them being evil
How can you even be a supporter of the children's butcher and war criminal Harris?!?!?
Saying "I'm a big supporter of Harris" in October 2024 is WILD
@@dunk7073ITF works for me. Even better acronym for the Diddle East Diaper Brigade 🤭😂😁
The correct version of Israeli history being given by Mr Pappe. Thank you . SHUKRAN SIR.
Victory Is Near 🇵🇸
Wow surprised you got this renowned historian on. Nice!
He's been on here before.
Ilan Pappe is one of the best human beings
Wow! From “the river to the sea “ ✊🏼❤️🖤🤍💚🙏🏽
(OMG, I just got an ad soliciting money for Israelis who've been forced out of their homes in fear of rockets from Lebanon.
That's some chutzpah)
That's been going on since Oct 8, due to rockets from Hezbollah.
Unsolicited.
When Ilan speaks, listen very carefully…
Balfour wanted to use Palestine as a leper colony for European jews. :(
The process of collapse can be very sudden and dramatic as we have seen in recent times…what seems unrealistic today may be the bleeding obvious tomorrow.
Sam and Emma, have Jeffery Sachs on someday! eager to listen to this now.
Thank you for telling the truth
Pappe is so hated by extremists
Like the British empire!
One possibility raised by some is that the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza is intended to create a waste land in order to build a new canal to the Mediterranean and hence compete out the power of Egypt over the Suez Canal. Engineers have even discussed using nukes for digging such canal, in a similar vein to what was planned in middle america when the US was thinking of using nukes for 'geolandscaping' of new canals. Time will tell if this prediction is accurate, but it would explain the enormous destruction of buildings across the Gaza Strip - as the Israelis might not even have the intention to ever rebuild that region again (let alone allowing others to do so). In this view the genocide on Palaestinians is a means towards that end. I hope this cynical prediction will not be true let alone succeed but the Israelis, by their own admission, have created unlivable conditions in this part of land supposedly under their 'protection' for years to come.
35:33 brilliant expose by Sam Seder on the young Biden’s start…
Oh wow! So gutsy of you to keep bringing on guests who agree with your narrative!
superb content
❤
Palestine will be free..Iam reading Lobbying for zionism on both side of the Atlantic . .excellent....
Love Professor PAPPE
Excellent interview with an extraordinary man. Thank you all.
I love Ilan Pappe! But I don't like how you guys still gotta plug how Harris might conduct the genocide differently than the way she's conducting it now into the conversation; because "she'll have no [political] space" to conduct the genocide that she's conducting right now the way she's conducting that genocide RIGHT NOW.
I don't like it when people advocate for war criminals that perpetrate genocide--neither directly nor indirectly--as was the case here.
Jill Stein isn't a perpetrator of genocide. And you can advocate for her without becoming complicit in the genocide. If you vote for harris, then you are giving consent (a vote) for her actions and policies--which happen to amount to genocide right now--among many other crimes against humanity.
I say the word genocide so much because I want to make it harder for people to skirt around this fact. For all you complicit DNC operatives.
It doesn't matter if you cry for Palestinians while you endorse the person empowering the people that are killing them to kill them. No one cares how you feel about it. When the facts are accounted for, there will be a checkbox next to your name followed by a sentence that reads, "Endorsed a coperpetrator of genocide?"
Well said. Sadly MR and its fanbase have lost all common sense/humanity. “Yea we care for the Palestinians but we’ll still vote for the people who murdered them”. Ffs. That saying “scratch a liberal and a fascist bleeds”. If I lived in US, I’d vote for Stein, and aim to at least crush the 2-party system
The fatal weakness of the UN system on the question of Palestine is that Israel claims its legitimacy as a state - its 'right to exist' - on the basis of its admission to the UN in 1948 by a two-thirds majority, albeit opposed by all its Arab neighbours (therein the sign of all trouble to come).
1948 was an important moment. India had gained its independence the previous year and decolonisation was beginning to gain momentum. Two developments bucked this trend: the establishment of Israel and the election of the white nationalists in South Africa, who set out to establish apartheid.
Less than a generation later, say about 15 years, UN membership had trebled; the USSR and satellites had also changed their position on support for Israel. In this changed world, a motion brought to the UN to establish a Jewish settler colony on a British mandate territory in Arab lands could never have gained a two-thirds vote: for a 'Jewish state' could only be established by driving out the indigenous inhabitants.
From this stems also the flawed project of the 'two-state solution', which is neither just nor viable: it's premised on Israel's membership of the UN as a legitimate state.
International law is hoist on this petard. All fair-minded people can see that ethnocracy is wrong, and that it was misguided to make reparations to European Jews for the Holocaust by allowing them to settle in the Middle East and start the Zionist project of ethnic cleansing.
The only solution that meets contemporary criteria of human rights and democratic values is for Israel/Palestine to become a single, secular, democratic state with equal rights for all. The so-called 'international community' needs to recognise that those powers who imposed Israel on the Middle East in 1948 were wrong to do so, and that the vast majority of current UN member states were excluded from the decision. Bad decisions of the past should not all be immutable or freeze the possibility for the righting of historic wrongs.
Amen to that!
I believe Israel is getting to the point where apartheid South Africa was in the 1980s.
The international BDS against SA started in the 1960s after the Sharpeville massacre, but the UK & US continued to support SA due to cold war geopolitics. The Soweto uprising happened in 1976, but the support from the US & UK continued. It was only in the mid-1980s when the UK & US stopped their support that the regime realised that they are heading towards complete failed state status, that they secretly started negotiations with the ANC (consideed terrorist organisations by apartheid SA & the UK & US amongst others).
It were these negotiations that eventually lead to a the negotiated solution in the 1990s that prevented SA going the same route.
The counter example is French Algeria.
"...is getting to the point..."?! That fav state has been such a country for decades - check out the dozens upon dozens of official reports released over the decades by the U.N. and human rights orgs even within this country. A part/ was and is enforced thru continuous terrorism.
Great questions! Learned much. Attended my first of many Pappe lectures in the mid nineties/Houston, Texas. I'm still amazed by how much I think I know but how much I still need to learn. Fabulous show. Thank you.
Excellent analysis.
Grazie. Prof. Pappé.
40:33 how AIPAC runs American foreign policy and therefore explains the inexplicable American partisan position when it comes to Israel. The interesting thing is whether China and India as rising powers will use the same instruments to exploit the weakness in American democracy
they have Dumbocracy, please stop spreading misinformation.
Always good to hear Ilan Pappe - suggestion, maybe list chapters in longer videos like this - makes it easier to recommend to 'fellow travellers'

Illan pappe love him from an Arab 🇸🇦
I learned a lot of the historic context from Illan Pappe but his hopes for a democratic Palestinian-Jewish state free of Zionism and settler colonial occupation seems so far fetched. All I see is death destruction war and more anguish.
The GOAT. The scribe. The defender of Palestinians. Gazas white knight of the west. This man is an inspiration
BRAVI, KEEP IT UP GUYS.. HAPPY NEW YEAR ILAN...SHALOM...SALAM ...
Its worth mentioning both Wahhabism and Zionism are British creations, Wahhabism was created to protect the spice and auger trade, at a time when sugar was the most valuable substance in England
Thank you this show for the truth
A free Palestine, where Jews and Palestinians would live together in a Democratic state would become an economic powerhouse. I had it even confirmed by a conversation I had privately with the head of the Israeli Central bank many years ago. Investments in the region could explode, coming both from western nations, and the Arab world. The talents of all these populations is remarkable, and they would be the truly between East and West. This has always been their role and I dream that it will become again the role that the Levant plays in world politics, and in the economy.
how is it always the british that were the catalyst...
Because they were the ones who cared the least about the consequences to the world and made the most efficient colonialist empire due to machine guns. If the Machine gun had been delayed by a couple of decades England would have fallen apart. War advancements that can keep the gap between the coloniser and colonised big enough then the colonised die out in the physical sense or the cultural sense until they are subjects unaware they aren't just subjects.
It was a rhetorical but good explanation lol
@@joeavreg2254this
It's either the British or Reagan
Because Britain used to be the biggest empire until it was ruined and replaced by the US after World War ll.
Israel has forfeited its rights as a state at this point in this fella's opinion.
So true!
They became a colony on sinking sand
It is still and always free Palestine 🇵🇸
Israel has the US printing press/tax payer --so it is disintegrating into genocidal corruption/suicidal in nature. But how long will the US printing press be able to prop it up?
brilliant
This video had more adds dumped on it by TH-cam than any other single video live watched of yours. They must really not like supporting Palestine.
what sane person doesn't run ad-blockers on this shit site? americans have stolen enough for no labour already.
I condemn the Israeli State, and I condemn the IDF. I don't believe any populace should be condemned in their entirety based on the actions of their government, Israelis included.
That said, genocide apologists, sympathizers and actors absolutely MUST be judged accordingly.
In my opinion to advocate for the cause effectively we absolutely have to acknowledge that there are indeed "good" people with Israeli citizenship, lest we end up just like those we currently abhor.
Maybe one should bring back the phrase “exile”. Ilan Pappe, Israeli in exile in the UK!
Ilan 🌹
Free Free Palestine! ✌💯
Not Pappy but Pappey that is the pronunciation ! Thanks.
This is actually very scary. We as average citizens have no influence whatsoever what happens on any level of society or the world. It's very depressing and unbelievably sad.
Religion is a main problem and indoctrinating propaganda. Israel seems to be hopeless, like a lot of societies and countries or maybe the whole of humankind. We make progress, but first and foremost we move in neverending circles.
A single state is no longer a feasible option as the demographics has changed with roughly 9M Jews almost matching the native population. It would also be an unequal society in optician and economic terms. Palestinians will not be able to assert their will or achieve their rights without a catastrophic collapse of Israel. Sadly I agree with Ilan on this but I think Prof Pappe’s idea of a single state will not be a solution for the Palestinians as it has been for the SOuth Africans and colonised people elsewhere.
Aren't a lot of Jews fleeing lately?
It worked in the US. It's not only a feasible solution It's the only solution. The 2 state solution is dead given all of the illegal settlements. Israel will have to make the decision to let go of its ethno nationalist idealogy or watch its own demise.
@@KauaiSanj Yes. Plus the nearly one million settlers are now such a dominant force in national politics that they will ensure the WB will remain part of the greater state.
I saw someone compare the situation to the partition of Ireland and how a single state isn't feasible even there
Will the US continue its support its proxy in the middle east at all costs or will the costs become excessive at some point…I think the role of China will eventually be felt when the Palestinian issue is decided….Unfortunately, India will not be of any use…they have fallen prey to the Israel lobby and the right
The aversion is too great for the One-State-Solution.
The "Ottoman Empire" was actually the Ottoman Caliphate
Shows how incompetent the IDF is.
Inevitable march of history for settler colonial states that tend to disintegrate…will Israel be an exception to the historic rule? Golden opportunities for the European project to somehow integrate over the years were not realised. It’s more akin to HK and the gradual changeover into Chinese control.
