Ilan Pappe, professor of history at the University of Exeter and Director of the European Centre for Palestine Studies, author of Lobbying for Zionism on Both Sides of the Atlantic, discusses the state of affairs in the Middle East a year after October 7th, 2023

Professor Ilan Pappé then joins, diving right into the rapid escalation and exacerbation of Israeli society and the Israeli state’s genocidal desires, first tackling the clear signs of the citizenry’s right-wing turn and the Netanyahu Administration’s messianic nature in the wake of the 2022 elections, before unpacking his thoughts on how the rapid radicalization during Israel’s brutal ethnic cleansing of Gaza (now expanded into a regional conflict) has exposed extensive cracks in the state of Israel. After briefly touching on the role of Israeli’s backlash to Netanyahu’s fascistic judiciary reforms - and the particular dearth of any connection between the violence imposed on Palestinians and the fascism coming home to roost - in demonstrating the precarious state of the country, Professor Pappé steps back to explore this evolution as a natural progression of right-wing colonial ideology in direct conflict with the world it’s invading, bolstered by Israel’s proactive violence in stamping out any conditions for change. Ilan then walks Sam and Emma through the evolution of the super-alliance that backs the Zionist state, exploring the movement’s roots in an Evangelical Christian movement that sought to capitalize on anti-Semitic sentiment and the growing aims of the British Empire, putting together an overwhelmingly powerful coalition before the Jewish community even came to the fore, also looking at the incredible evolution of the Zionist lobby in the United States and how Israel’s ability to stamp out conditions for change extends well beyond its border. After expanding on the ever-growing international backlash to Israel’s genocidal apartheid regime, Pappé dives deep into the need to recenter Palestinian actors in this fight, and what must be done to achieve decolonization in the region as quickly and with as little violence as possible.

11:35 Pappé made a good point about South Africa in that sense : because of international pressure, South Africa did reflect on what it was as a society and country and what it wanted to be in the future. And, in the end, it has changed.
Now, if only the International community (western powers, mostly) would push Israel to go through the same process of realization and reimagination, maybe peace could be achieved someday.

“Israel’s Netanyahu brings his dirty laundry to Washington. Literally.”The Washington Post
“The Netanyahus are the only ones who bring actual suitcases of dirty laundry for us to clean,” said one U.S. official, who like others spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the details of a foreign leader’s visits. “After multiple trips, it became clear this was intentional.”
Over the years, the Israeli leader has developed a reputation among the staff at the U.S. president’s guesthouse for bringing special cargo on his trips to Washington: bags and suitcases full of dirty laundry, according to U.S. officials familiar with the matter.
The clothes are cleaned for the prime minister free of charge by the U.S. staff, a perk that is available to all foreign leaders but sparingly taken advantage of given the short stays of busy heads of state.

I’ve seen clips on YT, and in some of them they’re interviewing the Zionist soldiers/militia men who weee involved in the massacre.
These men are really old now, and as they’re describing what they did to the villagers, they’re all smiling. They seem to think the film is intended for domestic audiences, where that kind of brutality is applauded. It’s some sick stuff, not just the descriptions of brutality they give, but how they smile when giving it.

Sure it’s got shopping centers, clubs, apartments, schools, parks, and social services but so do military bases. The moment you realize it’s basically an OCONUS base/camp it makes more sense. The middle east is considered a war zone by the west.
IsraeIi residents still vote back in their home countries, they still pay taxes in their home country, and they still get access to all of the social services and amenities of the home countries. IsraeI is just a deployment for Z!onist. Why do you think the residents there travel back and forth from there to their home countries so much throughout life for university, weddings, funerals, and other reasons?
It’s a military occupation just like any other. The US and European countries subsidize their entire lifestyle and military. It’s not that complicated. They almost chose Argentina, Madagascar, and Uganda as the site, but decided on Palestine!ne.

The only exception is non-Jewish citizens who must renounce their previous citizenship. I imagine more lsraeli’s know it’s easier and better to travel under their home countries passport and not an lsraeli one.
“However, within the framework of those exceptions, there are lenient conditions for lsraeli citizens that do not require renunciation of Israeli citizenship for the purpose of acquiring citizenship in these countries by virtue of a direct family connection to Holocaust survivors and victims of persecution. Meaning, lsraeli citizens who receive an Austrian passport or German citizenship after proving that they are descendants of Austrian/German citizens who lost their citizenship due to Nazi persecution will not be forced to give up their lsraeli citizenship.” -Decker Pex Levi law office on lsraeli Dual Citizenship.

To understand why Zionism won over Arabism (two competing visions for the land of Palestine by the British Empire, just look at the timeline. The British wanted to end WW1 as it was bankrupting them. The initial plan was to knock out the Ottoman Empire from the war so the British could keep Russia in the war. This is where Lawrence of Arabia came in. And while this worked, Russia had their revolution in February 1917 and formally left WW1 in November 1917. 1917 was also a horrible year for the British and French and it actually looked like Germany would win. With Russia leaving, this was almost assured unless the USA entered. So the British began strongly lobbying for the Americans to enter WW1 starting in 1917. In May 1917, Balfour visited the USA and talked with Wilson. This was facilitated by Lord Rothschild and wealthy zionists in the USA. It was a precondition from the USA that Britain formally support the Zionist movement in Palestine for it to commit troops to the war. In November 1917, Balfour issues the Balfour declaration. The USA sends troops in the spring 1918.
