This is one of the best videos that I seen on this topic. The only other thing to add, is many people out there do not understand that a normal car door WILL NOT protect you in a firefight. Even.22LR rounds can go through a car door and hit occupants inside... I'm impress with this guy in the video talking about the engine block as well as the axis of the back of the car but not the trunk. Again, really on point and 100% viable information.

I've been a shooting sports and gun fan since eighth grade, but I hadn't really studied the self-defense aspect of it until now. I've been doing martial arts and combatives for a long time, and this is a great thing to pair with that. Ultimately, shooting is as much of a combative system, (I don't like the term "martial art"), as BJJ or Krav Maga. Great video. I wish more martial artists/melee fighters respected shooting and firearms. Peace out!

Wow! I cant believe the arrogance and ignorance of most of the people who left a comment. First off there are many different military and civilian teams and academies that teach different techniques. There's more than one way to skin a cat. Secondly, it sounds to me like most of the people who left comments have never been in any gunfight whatsoever much less one from a vehicle but hey, that random dude you met at your gunshop wearing a BCM tshirt and owns an ar15, I'm sure he knows what he's talking about... Yeah. Also, why do y'all have to be rude? Did you forget these are people you're talking trash to? The thing that's destroys our society; its not the president, its not the laws, its our own hearts of pride. Humble yourselves and be kind, its so much easier.

Hate to break it to you Matt, human beings are ANIMALS. The "internet" is a place for these animals to run wild... constant trolling with no one to smash their head in with a ROCK (i.e. no consequences). It's difficult to get over a million years of animal evolution out... gonna take a long time. Some people think we're "civilized", "modern", "technologically advanced", but they have no idea how close we are to going cave man. Take away something simple like water or gasoline from your city for just a MONTH... see what happens. Again, all animals... just waiting to come out.

Suppressive fire is more of a military term as you don’t have to worry about your backstop or where the rounds are going per se whereas in the civilian world it would be called directed fire which means simply you were directing your rounds at the suspects last known position.

I'd practice keeping my leg in the vehicle when shooting from the front V so I don't get hit in the exposed leg, that V spot is also a perfect bullet bullseye for the enemy so it won't be maintained for long. Another good point, 9mm will penetrate straight through the trunk of a light skinned car, if there isn't anything to obstruct it, 5.56mm will tumble. Good video.

The only thing I'd have to say is, your position and attitude is set by the ATTACKER, not you. You take the best position to take cover or provide superior fire against the person trying to shoot you, not so much on the strong points of the car alone. The thing to be remembered, always, in training schools and competition is that in the real world its not mere set up targets by a dynamic fighting enemy you have to fight against. Where is the attack coming from, where are they, what angle is the car to them, where are the enemies moving? You can remember the strong points of the car for maximum protection from fire, but this must always be in relation to the position and fire of the enemy. It could be a mistake to keep your mind welded to the position of the wheels, axles, motor, instead of the fire of the people trying to kill you.

This would've been helpful in 2018 when I got shot up while still inside the squad car.
Things I learned: cars are like tin cans. Every round cut through like swiss cheese. Take cover from behind the engine or wheel. I was severely injured as the offender continued to flank and shoot. Only option I had was to crawl behind the squad and tuck my head behind the rear bumper and wheel. Still alive today. What a ride.

good point on holding the rifle sideways when shooting over low cover. I'd have never thought of that. do you think you guys could do a similar video with handguns. I know tons of people who carry handguns with them everywhere, but personally, I can't say the same for rifles. Still, great video!

You're not a shooter or you'd know you never put your barrel on anything. Guaranteed way to screw up harmonics.

You also have to take into consideration that if you are engaging from underneath the rear of the car that most vehicles fuel tanks are right there and if your actually in a real life scenario, you may accidentally send a round into the tank and setting fire

Randall Brolsma unless it’s a tracer, there’s an extremely low chance that it will catch fire or explode.
