Hey Everyone....just a warning. If you have a 21 4×e wrangler and you've just had the 95B recall test done like I just did. I wouldn't recommend going on a road trip for awhile because your whole hybrid/battery system might shutdown and disconnect like mine did last night. Fortunately mine didn't take long...I made it 8 miles and then everything went to h...! Keep a watch on your panel when you hit the road. It could very well cause you to wreck if your not careful. Possibly someone hitting you from behind...etc. Chris said some had driven 30 to 50 miles or so before something happened. Hope I'm correct on that. Mine experience was 7 to 8 miles. I got lucky. Glad it happened right away.

    Interesting… good to know. 👍
I always use the MaxRegen but after my 95B update I noticed just the opposite for a while. The MaxRegen was highly active. It’s almost back to normal now.
    Thanks for posting.

I had mine done a week ago, I don’t drive much, but after watching these videos, I should go on a drive and see everything is fine. Thanks for making these videos Chris, much appreciated.
The problem is, if the CEL regarding the battery can pop up anytime, anywhere kinda hard to plan a trip with this thing. So far I have zero problems with the 21 model and I am planning to put a bunch of upgrades to it this year. May be I should wait and see if jeep has figured out this recall at all.

Thanks for all your hard work and valuable info! It would be so nice if Jeep would issue something to all of its loyal customers, just what exactly the new software does and what to expect. If not for this channel and a few others, we would all be in the dark.

Wow, that sux, Jeep working fine and then after a mandatory recall goes on the blink. We bought a 24 Willys new around Thanksgiving and now have over 2000 miles on it. We don’t have any recalls yet and the only issue has been twice while trying to charge it had flashing red dash lights and said have charging system serviced. The first time we took it to the dealer and they said it was a “low voltage “ issue, the second time I raised the hood and that reset it. I think my wife wasn’t fully engaging the charging connector to the car (she was depressing the button while connecting and it didn’t latch) since then no problems. Thank you Chris for posting all these very helpful videos!👍

Believe me, I can appreciate everyone’s anger and frustration related to Jeep and specifically the 4xe, if I have half the problems you or some of the others have had we will be getting rid of it. We wanted a PHEV because we had solar/batteries put in last year so when Jeep offered a discount, zero interest and we still get the $3,750 tax credit, we jumped on it. So far we love our first Jeep. BTW, Jeeps no longer qualify for the tax credit.

Good morning Chris!! Just watched your video on the recall. WELL...GUESS WHAT!!
My service center called me and said my jeep passed ok on the 95B recall. Yesterday I picked up my jeep and turned the rental wrangler I had back in. I left there and everything seemed fine. I made it up the road about 7 to 8 miles and wham!!! Everything you said in your opening statements in your video came true...right side Guage for elec flipped off briefly...then MAX regen displayed not available. Then the engine check orange light came on and the jeep seemed to be a little unstable. I was in HEAVY traffic on I-85 and I went into panic mode. It was about 5:30. Service department open until 7. I immediately hit a off ramp and did a U-turn back down 85 to the jeep service dealership. While turning around to come back the jeep tried to shut down completely but thankfully it picked back up. Weird feel. Engine kicking in and it felt like the battery was disconnecting from the system similar to what you said. I'm in hybrid mode going back doing about 60. I tried to go into esave. Display said unavailable. Wow...no DG...no esave. Braking was ok. At this point I said please God get me back in to service Dep. Traffic was running over top of me plus it was 20 mph Cold 30 degree wind blowing. I made it back to dealer service. They were surprised and checked the jeep back in. Then I was back in the rental jeep I had previously. I was pissed and nervous. I have a knee replacement scheduled next Friday. I'm already nervous enough about that...I sure didn't need a jeep problem on top of that. So I took the jeep in the other day running fine and now the 95B recall test BREAKS it. Yea...real nice. Maybe I'll get a new battery like u did after all. I'm sitting here at home waiting. New knee coming and hopefully a new battery. New Orleans terrorist attack. Wow...2025 starting out real nice with a bang!!!!😢🎉

Sounds like 95B didn't break anything, but rather it prevented a much more serious problem from occurring (read that as "fire"). I am going to drive mine some today because I "thought" the regen meter wasn't showing any regen about 50 miles after the upgrade, but now I'm not so sure because it seemed to be normal yesterday. I will be watching it much closer today. I have plugged it into a level 1 charger only twice since I got it back. The lack of regen may have been because I was starting out with a fully charged battery??? Maybe??? Hope to know more later today. I am 9 miles away from my dealer, but I am willing to have it trucked to avoid a fire.

Had this exact situation happen. CEL and all regen and other modes unavailable. Checked the hybrid page and you can see it’s only the ICE motor working and you very much can tell that it’s just the friction breaks. Appointment set hoping for a new battery.
Interesting too is that from a stop it feels like a bad manual driver. Like it’s slipping a clutch, which I assume is exactly what it’s doing since there is no torque converter.

For me, the Jeep disabled max regen and I actually heard an audible click where the battery disabled. It had no speed limit, but the car would stall multiple times and have giant issues speeding up. I had a check engine light and had many braking issues on the way to the dealer. Again, this happened 281 miles after the recall was completed

On the last recall I said that is enough, I traded it in for a 2024 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk. No recalls on my 24 yet! I have noticed that when I am not using the new jeep the HV battery goes down much faster the the 22 jeep, but it keeps the 12 volt battery fully charged. Looks like that changed the software, and the 24 Grand Cherokee has a lot more accessories to keep charged.

When mine threw a code and disabled max regen and essentially turned off the battery, acceleration was affected but I was able to drive highway speeds. I did not notice any change to the feelnof the breaking. The "power" gauge I did notice would go up during acceleration, but did not go down into the charge zone. Checking the hybrid page the battery was grayed out. My assumption is that the ICE was still providing power directly to the electric motor.

10 charges and 500 miles later, still going strong. 2021 Sahara 4x3, close to 43K miles without a problem. The lease is getting over in early March. It's really torn, guys. Love ma jeep. Not sure what to do...
The residual value is 35K; my dealership's AI messaging service offered me 23K without knowing it was leased. 😕

Good video Chris. Couple of things. The instructions are for the dealer to do a test drive with the max regen turned “off”. It sounds to me like a second step would be if the vehicle passes the initial test drive then the dealer is to charge to 100% and perform the same , or maybe further 20 mile test drive with max Regen turned “on”. If it passes then it can be given back to the customer.
Second part on this that I have seen video on the forum is that , as you state as well, it locks out the battery as we have seen on the video that the engine provides power straight through the transmission with no power going back to the HV battery. Does this mean that if the customer wants to no longer use the HV battery that it could be shut down and only use the P1 as the starter and then the jeep acts like the standard 2.0 ICE only wrangler. Then the customer could pay to pull the HV battery (600lbs lighter) and have a flash update, cap off the HV lines and then it becomes basically a ICE 2.0. Or leave the battery in but shut it down per the customer request. Sure there is more to it but as you state we all thought there was no way to do a gas mode only but it seems like there is now.

@@jasoncurtice8454 That rapid oil life drop is a software issue. Make sure your dealership know. Also make sure they document that you have reset the oil life for this reason. Without good documentation, it can void your warranty to reset the oil life without an actual oil change.
