I always loved the image from the Fp. I think the EVF-11 really added some functionally to this camera. I parted with mine some time ago. But I might purchase it again with the EVF. I think the image hold up well against the Red.
Keep it up with the fp content Spencer. Thanks for being here and making videos. I always learn so much from you. Edit: I recommend watching the short sin-sin filmed with this camera and sigma cinema glass. Also check out the bts for the sort.
big thank you to you and Justin Phillips for turning me on to the fp. Like others have said I'd love to see a video with some footage from the Komodo spliced with footage from the Komodo. I have a feature-length narrative coming up where I was thinking of shooting one of the red products than a cam, but I'm intrigued by the f p as b-cam or gimbal cam. Right now I'm using a Fuji xt4 as my gimbal cam. I have a fairly robust set of Canon FD and Minolta rokkor MC... I'm Keen to take full advantage of those whole frame lenses. Thanks again
Basically the sigma is way more versatile with 2-3 stops less of dynamic range. If you know how to light that’s not a huge deal. You can have 4 preconfigured fps (gimbal, A-cam, jib, dolly) or 1 Komodo that’s too heavy for anything but a tripod unless you rent regular Panavision level gear. I sold my reds for fps. So much more cine power.

@@bmefilms6879 Just skimmed a bunch of your work and it totally makes sense why you’d want as much dynamic range as possible. Bare sun light mid day doc shooting made up a lot of your scenarios. @@sheldonnorton9035 I dig what youre saying. It seems to me that most of the videos out pimping this camera, have crushed shadows, which tells me the lack of dynamic range could be a problem.
Still probably the best image for the price on the market. My hope is that they come out with an fp 2 with the Sony A7IV 33mp sensor(this one uses the a7 III sensor I think). The fp L is great, but I don't know anyone who honestly needs 60mp, even for stills.
My friend, when it comes to motion cadence, do you prefer the S1H, Komodo, or FP? All shot in Raw 24p. Most film/Arri like? Motion I feel is often overlooked. They all seem to have decent dynamic range.
Wow! Beautiful shots Spenser - looks like something on Netflix. No wonder they're calling it the mini-Alexa. Have you tried it in crop mode - makes the image even more organic
I really wish there was more continuous focus tests on youtube. I know it's slow, but can it keep a subject in focus with optimal circumstances? Like in an interview set up?
In 12:07 I actually find the B-Roll dark blue and a touch of orange windows waaaaay more cinematic than the actually shot with the ultra saturated and overused contrast. But of course it depends on the situation I guess
I was considering selling my FP a few weeks ago, but I couldn’t go through with it. So much raw power out of an incredibly diminutive form factor. Great stuff as always! Do you expose off of the histogram or via an external monitor?
Hi I'm a sigma owner myself and looking into the Meike's, you are using the FF primes rather than Super 35 right? What lens lengths did you use for the video? Any ones you found particularly useful?
Hey, I wanna ask which colour space do you put in the RAW tab and what do you use for Colour space transform? I noticed when I use Blackmagic colourspace, and use the CST to get to Rec 709, I get the most latitude but I get this pattern on the over exposed areas
Awesome! thanks Spenser! literally just picked up an FP and this video came out at the perfect time. Can I ask how you're monitoring when shooting? I find the highlights looked blown out on the screen but then once transformed to BMD color space in the RAW tab it's all there. How can I see that its all their whilst I'm monitoring? Even the zebras at 100% say it's clipping when it's not once its brought into resolve. (shooting CinemaDNG 12bit). Would appreciate some help!
Hey man there is a good video on TH-cam about this (search smthg like exposing sigma fp) that explains how much to overexpose for each ISO setting, how much you recover recover etc. Basically the higher the ISO, the higher you move the DR towards the highlights. Also I guess the new false color setting might help with that, though I haven’t tried it yet.
@@alexiscosar8980 thanks man appreciate that. Yeah I played with the false color and it does show you when actual clipping happens. Was maybe wondering if there was a way to see it in the normal image when lighting a shot for example.
Metering is only correct for ISO 100 if you use the internal tools. Same applies if using a monitor which is not recording RAW. All tools will be useless. Only way which is working for me (have no BMD raw recorder available) is with Ninja V and PQ setting for ProRes RAW recording. ISO starts at 800 (which in fact is ISO 100) and upwards. False colors and waveform will be correct on the monitor. You will have to change the ISO values back however in post production.

I won’t answer for him (bc maybe he didn’t) but with raw (and especially uncompressed), as a standard the first node is almost always a bit of NR, nothing to drastic but raw usually needs a bit of it, and then add back a bit of grain in the last node if you want a bit of texture.

Great FP content. I’m glad this camera is finally getting more attention. Been a believer and evangelist for this camera for some time.
those meike lenses look great
i love the color on the fp
I love these example lighting scenarios! They are amazing, Spenser.
YES! was just looking at an FP for myself, more FP content!!
Spenser’s lighting technique has gotten so good, I really feel the camera he uses is nearly irrelevant.
Sigma FP looking like an arri. Seen a video with a cinematographer talking about how the SP looks really similar to an arri. I believe it.
