why put this stuff on a second channel man? you should keep it all in one place, youtube algorithm tends to work in the favor of people who do more uploads, and your stuff deserves a much wider reach!!
Theres a multitude of reasons that are kind of hard to explain. The algorithm does favor quantity over quality, but there are many other variables like retention, engagement, and clicks per thumbnail view that make a big difference on recommending future videos as well. I want my main channel to be quality, edited content. I want people to click on my channel, and any and every video is interesting and entertaining for the average viewer. I want people to get excited when I upload on my main channel, because they know its gonna be something I put a lot of love into. The average viewer doesn't really care about the internal layout of the cooling system, bootup-to-gameplay interface, or creators commentary. I don't want to ping 15 thousand people with unedited videos of stuff they aren't interested in. This second channel will let me have a smaller place to post "lower production quality" videos comfortably. I can more easily interact with the subscribers who are interested in the technical, behind the scenes stuff, where their answers won't get buried in thousands upon thousands of "make me one" and "you should make a portable switch" comments. Someone could comment "hey bet you can't beat event match 50 on this" and I could throw out a video that afternoon proving them wrong. I could do streams or quick worklog style videos and not have them clutter my main channel. Im going to try keeping things separated for now as a means of quality control for the main channel, and see how it goes. If it doesn't work, ill merge the two.

I know there's some good info about this on BitBuilt.net, but maybe you could also make a quick tutorial on something like this for us aspiring electrical engineers. Unfortunately, its not that easy. Any tutorial like this would not be quick, it would be a MONUMENTAL project. The scene is always changing and evolving, and the portablizing meta still hasn't reached a point of a static build process. New changes are constantly being made and tweaked, and any video guide I could make would be obsolete before I could even finish it. The wiring isn't as easy as "put this here" there is a lot of troubleshooting and critical thinking involved. Every person's build process is different, each maker employs their own skillsets and tools. For example a step by step guide for this portable specifically would start with: Step 1: Use a $30,000 laser cutter with an almost equally expensive air exhaust system to cut cut holes in your $6 ABS project box. Step 2: Mill a pcb using the $150,000 PCB milling machine you have access to. I have training and tools that most people don't have access to, so my process isnt applicable to everyone. The guides cover the things EVERY portable needs, while the rest is dependent on your skills and tools.

Within the next year or 2 most the kinks should be worked out, but right now everything is still up in the air. I want to eventually have a tutorial series up on my channel, and ive discussed it with other members of the community... but first we need to iron out the kinks in the process. Especially in regards to audio amps and voltage regulators, and battery management systems. Most highly skilled members are customizing their own setups by designing expensive custom PCBs specifically for their portables, while many introductory members are throwing together hacky solutions or waiting for development to be ready for the masses. We have been discussing it, i can assure you that, its just a HUGE task, and we need to make sure its done right.
Hey i just found the second channel, I remember looking at portable wiis and gamecubes when i was younger. Back then i didn't have a job but I do now, with my high school ending soon i can finally attempt one myself. I have access to a 3d printer and everything,I have a pretty clear understanding of it all- except one thing: i have no idea how to shorten the main board😭😂😂

The custom software is modded software for the wii. It is portablizemii, and you can download the pack at BitBuilt.net, but you need to make an account to download it I believe. It is for wii, and will not work with a computer

@@Abh_92 Thanks for the kind words. It always makes me happy hearing new people getting interested in the hobby. Regarding the 3D printed case, that design is for the piiwii pocket 2. I plan to release all the files once the case is complete, but it's still a work in progress. In the mean time, I would check out gman's G-Wii, it's a great open source case to use for a first portable.
A lot of it is improvised on this build, so I don't have a list of parts specifically. Every build uses different parts. There is a post called the portablizing BOM which is a good place to start
Its a ton of parts that all add up. Screen+drive board, audio amp, batteries, regulators, battery management/protection/charging, speakers, microcontrollers... Then you have all the small parts like ports, switches, buttons, LEDs, fan, heatsink... it all just adds up to being a lot.

They are a lot of work and very expensive to make. They will never be a commercial product. I may do commissions one day, but not for a long time, and they will be very expensive

It has a barrel jack that directly connects to the batteries, so they are charged directly from an external lithium battery charger.

Were did you get the controller parts from.
The controller parts were taken from actual gamecube and PS2 controllers, while the 3ds sliders were purchased on ebay
