    I've never understood people that will walk up and lay their hands on a vehicle that's having trouble with an obstacle. How do they do the mental math for the cost/benefit analysis?? "Yeah, I could be crushed, but it's worth the risk to maybe get this vehicle over this optional obstacle."
    Absolutely insane

    We have the same issue here in the US. People buy a 4x4 Nissan (ours is the Armada, formerly the Pathfinder; Australia has the Patrol) because they're typically cheaper than a Jeep. Then they try to take it out on the trail to do Jeeprat Stuff With Their Friends, which usually ends with a Jeep pulling them out of a rut.
    Nissan made (past tense) great, rugged and reliable vehicles which were good for an occasional blizzard or soft road. We call them Post Office 4x4s here: good in all terrain and weather, but not something you want to rock crawl or go mudding in. Unless you drop several thousand dollars into them, they're not going to perform as well as a typical stock Jeep, and even fully kitted out, they can never compete with a built-up Jeep.

    Just avoid mud. It's like owning an elephant.

    I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to snatch a car out by reversing. I've heard it is bad on your diffs. I'm looking at 11:10.

      The reverse gear is not a strong gear at all. You are correct in this.

      @Thomas Hooper exactly! Recovery 101, NEVER recover in reverse. All you’ll get is a busted diff. The H(J)eep was very lucky not to.

    And this is why you don’t take a brand new $40,000 plus truck especially stock into areas like this. They spend hundreds of thousands of dollars building 4x4 to go to these places and even then they don’t always make it out unscathed

    I know exactly what happened to that guys rig the one that went into the mud. His clutch got all gummed up same thing happened to me if you keep playing with it for a good while it’ll clear out you’ll burn a little clutch but it’ll clear out

    • @4WDTrek
      @4WDTrek 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Had that issue when I was out on a trail with my friends recently. My buddy gummed up his clutch really bad. I ended up having to tow him about 3 miles off an ORV trail then another 15 miles down to town where his buddy could get him with a trailer.
      I have the video posted up on my account. The Evans Creek video specifically.

    10:57 - that's why you should never use a ridiculously long tow strap. They're lucky it didn't take someone's eye out. They didn't even cover it with a blanket.
