It depends on your parent language . Take kiswahili to west Africa then it will be a hell of a task to them 😂😂
East africans speak it easily since all languages within the region ( kenya ,TZ , malawi , mozambique , zambia , rwanda , burundi , congo ) relate in one way or the other with kiswahili because 99% are of Bantu origin

As an African American, I would say it’s the atonality of Swahili that makes it easier. Tonal languages are generally harder for people in the west to learn.
Swahili has many speakers over a large area, while west African languages have a smaller range of usage. I think all diasporans should learn at least one west African language imho, but learning Swahili should be essential as well for returning back home.
(P.S. some AAs object to ‘Black American’ because it omits African heritage or lineage...but it is no great matter coming from continental Africans...we know it’s not meant to be an insult and some of us even use the term.)

Tanzania the land of wisdom. Apparently the first human being comes from Tanzania as per the oldest fossils and skulls found in Alduvai gorge. There is something special about Tanzania that the world must embrace. Basically, if we can rewind time and go back to the beginning of creation, we are all Tanzanians because our ancestors come from Tanzania. It is worth it learning to speak Kiswahili, the language of our ancestors!

The language is called KISWAHILI please. Swahili is someone who speaks KISWAHILI.
In Kiswahili, if you are Kiswahili speaking person, they will call you (M-Swahili)
Tanzania, Kenya, Burundi they say you are Mswahili
    RDC they say muswahili
    Rwanda they say umuswahili.

Huwezi mwita mtu mimi ni mswahili kwasababu ni lugha ya kuzaliwa .je nikitaka kumwambia mtu lugha nayoongea nasema lugha yangu ya taifa ni kiswahili not swahili.and not all people of or countries speak the correct kiswahili only few but to my understanding Tanzania is the only country that speak the correct kiswahili language argue all you want but that is pure truth .

Kiswahili needs to be the uniting language of all Africans. I hear the South Africa had announced that Kiswahili will be introduced as an optional language in schools by 2020. The language is to become the first African language spoken across the continent. I hope all African nations embrace this move, so thats its easier for Africans to move freely and relate with each other across the continents.
Part of the reason why USA is successful is because when all the initial immigrants from the different European nations embraced English as their united language. Unfortunately, many late go of the ethnic identities. We dont want this in Africa.
For example, in Kenya, almost all citizens are trilingual. They speak English and Swahili, in addition to their native tongue. So for example, I speak DhoLuo, Kiswahili and English. Another Kenyan might speak Kigiriama, English and Swahili, and other Kikuyu/Kisii/KiLuhya, etc in addition to English and Kiswahili.
This makes communication across different tribes in Kenya more efficient, for we understand each other in school, trade and other formal and informal settings. Thats how we should have it across Africa. Kiswahili spoken by everyone in addition to their native tongues and national language, even in French speaking African nations.

Kiswahili derived from Bajun language who are the people that lived and are still living in Somali Coast and Lamu the North Coast part of Kenya. The Bajuns were traders before the coming of the Portuguese, Germans, Arabs, Italians, British and Indians. The Bajun Land was never colonized because when the foreigners came they found the natives were self civilized. Some bajuns migrated to the Coast of Kenya and others to the Coast of Tanzania before the colonies. The Bajuns are the tribe that speaks the pure kithukuu. It's this kithukuu (kithukuu is not bantu) language that is mixed up with some words of the Arabic, Portuguese, Hindi etc during those ancient days the traders wanted to use it as a language that they will all understand thus it was formed and they called it swahili (Island language).

The narrator's English is very poor. He also gives wrong names to the presidents; eg the president of Uganda is not Yoweri Museveni Kaguta. He's Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. And the narrator keeps swapping Ls and Rs - where there is supposed to be an R sound, he puts an L sound. I wasted my data.
