The Squad meta of armor running off to play World of Tanks instead of combined arms really stands out with this faction. I commonly see the MEA absolutely decimating enemy armor with abundant missile vehicles and strong heavy anti tank but the infantry gets their asses kicked by enemy infantry. Nowadays no IFV squad is going to accept using their vehicle to transport troops (ironic) so with no transport and hard to control weapons the MEA infantry just gets wiped (also the scopes suck ass)
Dude that shit drives me nuts. One of my best games I've had that resulted in a massive W was where I commanded a brad, with a friend gunning, and another driving, communicating over discord, but I communicated with squads for infantry support. We would transport a squad or fireteam to a standoff distance, suppress enemy defenses, ward off or fight vehicles if they showed up, the infantry would push and clear, we'd keep at standoff while keeping pace, take objective, defend it, they'd load back up, and we'd move on. Playing IFVs as they are supposed to is really the only way to do it.
the transport issue is what got me to finally stop playing squad. the ICO is actually painful to play if you dont have proper logistics and troop transport. you get to the battle tired and out of stamina while the defenders can sit in little gaps and snipe you with perfect accuracy from being able to stay relatively still and not waste stamina.
Even worst, in 99 % of servers. If you call your squad APC/IFV and actually play like an APC/IFV with a full squad of infantry you will get kicked or your squad will be disband. And then they wonder why their IFV are getting struck by AT, but they have no god damn infantry to cover them.
the larger point of this series is to get people to play each faction in slightly different ways. to recognize the advantages and disadvantages factions have and to use that knowledge to their advantage. if players could adopt this mindset with the MEA, then i think we would see MEA win their infantry battles alot more often. this series is my small part in trying to foster that mindset.
@@sami-1-3-5 Sure the recoil is bad, but recoil is much less of an issue if you only need to hit one shot instead of two or three. Just go a little slower and get your gun on target instead of prefiring.
congrats you can get one shot off and then die because the recoil and screen shake make it impossible to hit another guy who is a few feet away@@DarkDodger
The one saving grace of the G3 in CQB is the hip fire. If you know the recoil pattern, you can shoot this thing pretty accurately inside 20 meters. Pre ICO, you could put a dot in the middle of the screen and just use that to aim lol. Much better than using the 4x scope in CQB
pre ico you could actually shoot at stuff close range without having to crouch, hold your breath, slowly take aim, check for any dirt on the gun, consider asking the opponent for consent to fire in their direction, instead opting to take them out for dinner first

MEA is such a fun faction (Top 3 for me). Like you said, you just have to play much more patiently and make your shots count. With the infantry overhaul, you will need to know how to utilize point shooting, it is very useful and is 1 shot at that. Great rundown on the faction!
When you have a battle rifle and are in doubt - rhodesian tactics are the way to go. They had FALs and G3s, immediately decided auto is useless, advised their troops to use semi only and if trying to suppress or at closer ranges, use two shot bursts (two shots, semi, quick succession).
watching yyour video made me realize the MEA is the perfect faction for me. i love playing as marksman, the MEA is basically all marksman kits that have auto as well. currently using the automatic rifleman kit and it shreds with the 4x scope and a bipod. this Guide has turned the MEA from me least favorite to one of my favorites, Thank you broooooo
Ya know whats funny, I see the MEA squads being very much WW2 Wehrmacht inspired, mostly because of the downfalls and advantages that the rifleman have with the Machinegun focus. Of course there is the obvious fact they are using german weapons(duh), but like, its even more so with how they are used, ranged, slower firing, slower engagements equals win for the G3, whilst the MG3 sits back and lays into the enemy with the high suppression, and if that goes down, the infantry becomes exposed, just like the old german squad tactics from ww2. Very interesting how we see the tactics still being used, over 80 years on.
It is rather interesting, but I don’t think it’s particularly inaccurate. A lot of people assume because Middle Eastern Countries got Soviet Equipment, they got training, like how NATO advisors work. In actuality Soviet Advisors were just technical/mechanical experts. A lot of non NATO nations in the Middle East/Asia actually had inspiration from a bunch of different sources, even WW2 Germany, like surprisingly enough the Chinese PLA.
Great video! I wish there was more team collaboration at the beginning of rounds in Squad. Maybe a few minutes where everyone gathers and forms a plan. It would be a good time to give them tips, such as from videos like this.
One or two positively energetic SLs that take initiative can usually get the rest of the SLs to work together. The biggest issue w/ teamwork is bitter SLs/Command killing the communication in the command chat.
@ptbeltwarrior the worst thing SLs can do is start griping in command chat and then spread it down to the squad. Really kills the vibe of any team. Even if you are losing you can at least try to stay motivated for the boys
Ikr. The problem is you get servers where people just dont talk, and it utterly fails predictably. If you have competent command and Squad Leads, then its so much more fun. Makes such a difference.

Years after v1.0, still gotta give the MEA credit for the fact that basically every single kit is armed with a battle rifle. Not an infantry player but I gotta respect that, particularly the scoped G3s which turns close to half of the available kits into pseudo-Marksmen. I'm just happy that the Iron Man MEA HAT bug never made a return. This was a bug introduced some time around v1.0 where MEA HATs were completely immune to bullets.
Great vid! I don't see a lot of overall faction tactical guides like this and the MEA are my favorite faction after China. You've earned my sub for sure.
MEA Are one of my favorite factions, its not like a regular well armed and trained army but it isn't on the same level as a insurgent force or a paramilitary group.
The role of the two common infantry rifles goeth thusly: Assault Rifle: Intended engagement range: Short. Mode of Fire: Select fire (full auto or burst). Semi-auto fire is for taking occasional mid-range shots. Battle Rifle (like G3): Intended engagement range: Medium range. Mode of Fire: Semi-auto. A hk33 or a mp5 would make a good addition to this faction, I still think that 75m for one-hit-kill is not much, if it were at ~140 it might start to make a difference (not only for the G3, but for all full power caliber rifles, and the 7,62x39 could also get a buff).
Yes i think like you: we should replace maybe the g3a4k to the squad lead by the hk33 or 53, and offer the 53/33 to the alternative of the g3, like the canadians with the C8 and C7 But maybe that is not correct in terms of the army they want to mimic
I always loved the MEA because it always gave Squad something diffrent then just carbines and the vehicle vombat ist very diffrent. Also I would love a Video an the Insurgents.
10:00 does that sound ever make a difference in active combat, thats like trying to hear a garand ping, and even if they do hear it will they realistically have the time to get away from it?
No clue why everyone hates the g3, you just push with someone semi auto suppressing with the g3 while you throw grenades in then hipfire (or aimed if you dont have a scope). If you realize how to work around the heavy recoil you can body the other team in cqb since you have such a strong rifle. Also just never use full auto until you enter a room, but even then just rapid semi auto fire works great. less recoil and less ammo spent spraying around walls.
MEA is one of my favorite factions becuase of the G3 they are a terrifying faction to fight if the team knows what they are doing expect to get picked off out of nowhere when fighting them becuase they will be pretty liberal with long range pot shots and with the decreased damage falloff these pot shots will vibe check the shit out of you if they hit you
I plan to get the game soon specifically to play as the REDFOR factions. If you could make a video about one of them (preferably RGF) I would very much appreciate it. Then again "Know the enemy and know yourself and you need not fear the result of a hundred battles." -Sun Tzu said that. (TF2 fan) so knowledge about enemy factions would also be welcomed.
The G3 OHK under 20 meters meaning that they are super strong in CQB and people need to make more use of this if they want to win fights as MEA. I would even argue they are better up close than at range, since you can just hip fire away and not have to deal with the recoil.
I generally agree with this take. You can go on insane tears with the gun, but it's high risk. CQB with the G3 is very unforgiving. You have to have really good game sense with where your rifle is pointing, as well as be fast and efficient with your shots. If you're in single fire in CQB, you're very likely to die if you miss 2-3 shots in a row unless youre both panic firing. If you mitigate this by going full auto, you're having to reload more frequently than an enemy who likely has 50% more bullets in their magazines. But man if you land that torso shot, does it feel good to clap
I see these guys get picked quite often now. Not sure what changed in the 8 months since this video, but the MEA seems to be something of a favorite now. Not to mention I consistently see MEA win on defense. For whatever reason, I see MEA super FOBs get built and just lock down objectives. Also automatic rifleman and machine gunner spam inside those FOBs typically means the enemy or you are almost always suppressed. MEA ain’t nothing to mess with.
I wish there was an option to “hip fire” more accurately. If your keybind is set to “click” to ADS, it’d be cool to hold the aim button instead to level the gun a little better so you can “hip fire” a tad more accurately. And vice versa. I’m at the shooting range at least once a week IRL, you can absolutely shoulder fire without ADS in close quarters. It’s not perfect, but it’s totally doable. I understand the point of having 4x scopes to keep engagement distances fair (it’s hard to fight CQC with anything more than a holo/red dot) but it’s not just realistic nor practical. Or, integrate some sort of magnifier with red dots and holos like the MEE or GE mods.
Mtlb is a goated 1 man vehicle. Just sit in the active cap and cover the part of the cap that requires and open field to cross, which just about every cap in the game has.
You better cover Militia and INS without bias lmao Im gonna wait for both these videos, man. And I believe you dont give the BMP-1 enough credit. As its not really meant for infantry carrying its more of a Bradley in the sense that you’re supposed to engage infantry and destroy armor with its superb ATGM and heat rounds while acting ad a sort of mobile ammo box with its whopping 600 ammo to support local infantry. And not to mention the frag rounds that will out preform two strykers when it comes to fighting infantry.
@@giahuynguyenkim6389 Since when do people use IFVs to actually transport infantry? I have NEVER used the BMP to transport a squad because nobody ever ASKs. I always take it to the sides of maps and use the ATGM to destroy enemy armor. And since I play mostly INS and IMF its a VERY important tank since T62 usually spawns later than a BMP and even then thats slightly WORSE than the BMP-1
@@giahuynguyenkim6389 Ok well then why dont they let the BMP1s do their job instead of trying to bother them with transporting people around when they could be destroying Bradleys, LAVs, and maybe even Abrams at a distance since the ATGM gives you one tap potential to ammo rack an Abrams with ONE shot.
Great video! I personally like the challenge of switching to the G3 mindset. How about Canada next? I don't really understand what makes them different from US Army, besides worse HAT and some optics?
My favourite vehicle in Squad gotta be the Stryker with the singular MG lol. Maybe the BTR aswell. You act as a battle taxi for whichever squad wants it. You then drop them off and suppress people afar while they push. It survives so much shit thrown at it aswell to the point its insane.
In Brazil all the boys love to play using this lovely FAL :) Best weapon indeed. On the factions where just some kits have FAL like medic on insurgents on PR we have dispute to who will choose first being more faster
MEA is uniquely good on invasion defense, but I've had a hard time getting it to work otherwise. You do need to think a lot more about every one of your actions than other factions.
MEA's RPG-29 is imo the strongest HAT in the game. It has great velocity, fantastic scope and you get 2 shots. Not to mention the other nice bits of kit that you get. The G3 is actually amazing at CQB if you get good at hipfire. You only need to hit once to upper torso, so you have a time to kill advantage on everyone else despite not being able to spray as much or as well.
One of my first times facing against the MEA was as the canadians on the map with the big chasm, my team set up in the middle of the chasm and along some of the cliffs, we were hammered by long range battle rifles all game with no clue where they were shooting from
Subscribing just because this looks really in depth. I want to buy Squad but I’m nervous as it would be my first “tactical milsim” like shooter on PC I’d get.
i personally love squad, but if you want a bit more of a gateway drug into tactical shooters i'd suggest hell let loose. it's a bit more casual but has alot of milsim elements relative to other games.
@@Monifans I actually do have Hell Let Loose but I’m a console player. Put a good bit of hours into it, and it’s why I want to try squad as well. For that modern feeling of things.
The G3 is fine if you go with iron sights, you just need to land 1 shot to down an enemy, solid weapon, the lack of light armor is the main thing that makes it a pain, we have less support to combat the enemy light Vics unless it’s insurgents, guerrilla tactics is the way to go with this faction
i'd like to cover all the factions that have not been thoroughly covered by other youtubers (eventually). priority are the ones i find most interesting and the most requested.
Considering the equipment, I would recommend WW2 German Squad tactics, which were based on the MG being the centre piece while being supported by riflemen. Military History Visualized has a good video on it. I mean, it is worth a try. A group that regularly plays together should be able to pull it off.
@@giahuynguyenkim6389 I only have the game installed, I never played it. Having said that it did work well in Red Orchestra 2 and even Arma 3. Tho a Team that is somewhat coordinated is usually always better then chaotic chickens running all over the place anyway. My biggest problem is, me and my friends have work and family to take care of and there usually is not much time or motivation to spend on a game like that. I haven't played in a large clan since back when I was in High School during the BF2 days. TL;DR: No, haven't had a chance to try.
This is actually my favorite faction besides the American ones. I love the G3A3, even in CQB. Funnily enough, I love it in CQB and feel like I do the best in CQB with this rifle. I do move slow though and am always aiming down sights while in CQB.
One note: you keep saying that other factions use carbines which have less recoil. That’s close but ultimately incorrect. A carbine is a short barreled rifle, which the MEA has in the HK51 for Crewman kits. The distinction you are looking to make is ‘battle rifle’ vs ‘assault rifle’, the distinction being the cartridge. While the US may use the M4 carbine, they also have the M16 full length rifle. The AKS74U is the carbine of the AK74. The HK51 is the carbine of the G3. I guess you could call the HK51 a ‘Battle Carbine’ while the AKS and M4 are ‘assault carbines’
I've (tried to) play MEA mechanized... just to have the T-72's over-extend and get wrecked by infantry, tow's and M1A2's just to heavily bitch about my IFV trying to support infantry is astounding. Then the armor rolls on us, we pull back, and the cycle begins again.

I would even argue they are better up close than at range, since you can just hip fire away and not have to deal with the recoil.
ill have to check it out. might be a nice way to even the odds in CQC.
Yeah that was a game-changer. Upper arm, torso, or upper leg hits are now one hit kills under 20m with the G3.
The G3 buff was a big deal for these guys. They absolutely slaughter now as long as you can hit your target just once.
4:38 Sacrificing troop capacity is a game changer in Squad?
Cmon, almost never is armor used to carry troops in Squad. :D
The BRDM2 with hind rocket pod strapped to the top is by far the coolest tool the MEA has.
BMP-1 is more like a light tank that can transport infantry if needed.
@@superduper3722 Rarely, but it happens. Infantry likes transport choppers and APCs more than IFVs because they can carry more people.
@@giahuynguyenkim6389 Ok well then why dont they let the BMP1s do their job instead of trying to bother them with transporting people around when they could be destroying Bradleys, LAVs, and maybe even Abrams at a distance since the ATGM gives you one tap potential to ammo rack an Abrams with ONE shot.
g3 with the red dot is by far the best cqc gun in the game
Way to go son!
thanks, dad. please bring the milk soon.
In Brazil all the boys love to play using this lovely FAL :)
Best weapon indeed. On the factions where just some kits have FAL like medic on insurgents on PR we have dispute to who will choose first being more faster
Love this keep doing it
MEA is uniquely good on invasion defense, but I've had a hard time getting it to work otherwise.
One of my first times facing against the MEA was as the canadians on the map with the big chasm, my team set up in the middle of the chasm and along some of the cliffs, we were hammered by long range battle rifles all game with no clue where they were shooting from
Joke is on you. I suck with MEA because I can't shoot or pay attention!
Checkmate.
Funny enough the MEA is the team I'm the best at.
Does I have squad? No, did I wtached the whole video while tkaing notes? yes
I do think the Mea has the strongest hat kit in game
Wasnt expecting to hear lemmino's bgm in a squad video.
fucking love it. his videos are great too.
can we see an irregular milita video?
G3 is great, that 1 tap potential is huge. They also have the second best HAT kit imo.
MEA is actually one of my favorite factions only behind insurgents
MEA has been my favorite since they released!
bruv u basically making me sub unconditionally now an'it
*:)*
@@jonathankahl6302 oh great then i encourage you try it out.
Its interesting the drastic difference of the MEA in Squad, and its predecessor the MEC in Project Reality.
great guide man
Appreciate it!
MEA has such great AT and support kits.
I love how so often things that people hate in squad simply come down to "this requires you to play differently" :D
Need to play squad with this dude
im down!
Great video moni!
I am a Project Reality player and the G3 haters are just salty lol! (Btw wish the MEA had a MP5 and HK21)
This video was super useful! :D
I don't even play squad but this is really interesting stuff
MEA guide:
1) Turn on God, Syria and Bashar.
Thank you for your attention.
Aged like milk
Do this with every faction pls
Nice guide, thx. Can you cover the Chinese or the British?
i'd like to cover all the factions that have not been thoroughly covered by other youtubers (eventually). priority are the ones i find most interesting and the most requested.
this video is just good
Basically, this faction is like army of marksmen..you need play less aggressively, more passively
If you have the Z-point in CQC, you can be a menace with rapid semi-auto taps just saying
yeah thats what i'd suggest with that optic. at least at the
Great video would love to see one on the Canadians next! ( not biased at all 🍁)
Considering the equipment, I would recommend WW2 German Squad tactics, which were based on the MG being the centre piece while being supported by riflemen.
Military History Visualized has a good video on it. I mean, it is worth a try. A group that regularly plays together should be able to pull it off.
So... Did you manage to do this? I'd imagine to do super well.
The Midle Eastern Coalition (MEC) from Project Reality is The Og
This is actually my favorite faction besides the American ones. I love the G3A3, even in CQB. Funnily enough, I love it in CQB and feel like I do the best in CQB with this rifle. I do move slow though and am always aiming down sights while in CQB.
I'm your 1000th sub
Can you do a pla (chinese) faction guide because I been noticing that people have a difficult time with the faction
at 8k hours MEA is one of my favorite factions to play
I've (tried to) play MEA mechanized... just to have the T-72's over-extend and get wrecked by infantry, tow's and M1A2's just to heavily bitch about my IFV trying to support infantry is astounding. Then the armor rolls on us, we pull back, and the cycle begins again.
Would like a guide on RKG-43 AT grenades
