THIS IS FINALLY THE REAL “BEGINNER” CROCHET VIDEO IVE EVER SEEN. Feel like a lot of experienced crocheters forgot what it was like to know nothing & just explain it way to fast/complicated 😭 THANK YOU!!!!
Yes!! This is amazingly detailed! I've watched atleast 5 other beginner videos but couldn't quite get it, after watching this video I GOT IT! I will continue to watch these videos. I love her ❤
I’m 13 and because I’m young no one wants to help me with crochet because they don’t think it would be a hobby I would stick with. I love crocheting it’s one of my many hobby’s thanks to you!☺️
I teach kids to knit all the time, so I am sorry to hear nobody wanted to teach you! I came here to learn how to crochet myself. I am 45. You can keep learning new things forever! :D
Thank you so much. My mom used to crochet huge afghans for our family, and I decided last night to learn how. She passed away 3 years ago with complications related to her muscular dystrophy. She had trouble with her hands, but when I was young she was still able to crochet. I think it probably helped her dexterity as best she could. Now that I am learning, I am even more impressed with how she was able to do this. Over the years, I have lost the afghan she made me. So I would like to make a new one in her honor! Your video makes me feel like I can do this.
this is so beautiful. My mom passed away this year, and she always encouraged all the hobbies I pursued (including crocheting). I hope your afghan is going well 🥰
I love this. My mom used to crochet, sew, paint, etc. The complete artist. But now she is bedridden and want to learn everything she used to do. This is such a lost art and it seems that all the coolest moms knew how and were much more peaceful than moms today. Happy learning and may you stitch some wonderful memories along the way.
Learning to crochet with ny 17 year old son and his girlfriend... this is the easiest, most comprehensive video ive found!thank you!!!! True beginners video. Its like you remember what its like not to know. That's one of the best qualities in a great teacher.
Hi thank you very much for this video! I am French and it is really hard to find this kind of tutorials in French, but I understood everything even if it’s not in my language so thank you!! And for the people who’ll see that comment, have a nice day :)
tysm ❤️ im stuck on chain for around 4 months and after i watch your tutorial i just understand it all and, y'know the beginner mistakes i use very small yarn and it's so difficult to see (even though it was my mother's and she no longer used it)
My grandmother taught me to crochet/sew during summer visits when I was 7 yrs old. I must have been a very patient little girl & her a patient teacher. she made beautiful blankets for the church. Those memories with her have stayed with me all my life.
Perfect! Last night while rummaging through some of my mum's sewing stuff (she doesn't sew any more, so I basically get to take what I might possibly use) I actually found my favourite crochet hook from when I was a kid. When I was around 8 or so I did a fair bit of crocheting, starting with normal yarn and then moving towards thinner threads - and my favourite was a 1.0mm hook that I used for making lace. Yes, I was crocheting lace when I was 8; I was not, as they say, like most boys... Anyway, I haven't done any crocheting for three decades, so your video is just what I needed as a refresher on the basic stitches. I might start out with a larger hook, just to get it "into my hands" again before I move on to my tiny little hook, though. No need to be foolhardy! So thank you very much for your help.
I have watched so many so-called beginners tutorials and they didn't slow it down enough to make it easy to follow like you have done. I was getting so lost as to where to put my hook not knowing if the stitch I had just done was correct, and didn't know where to go next after I had completed a stitch I was utterly lost. I don't normally comment on these things but you have done a marvellous job, love to see more! Thank you.❤
i've already watched a lot of crochet tutorial videos here on youtube as well as on tiktok, but i still looked for other tutorials because i was still finding it hard to understand where to insert, what they meant by "insert into the second stitch", like, WHERE??? until i stumbled upon your video! this is LITERALLY, by far, the BEST and the REALEST ABSOLUTE BEGINNER tutorial. i love that you zoomed into the yarn and pointed us to where we should insert our hook, and you were able to explain it delicately and precisely. i can't thank you enough for this. you deserve all the best things in this world :>
This video is the one that finally worked for me AND my two daughters! We'd spent almost a week getting frustrated and throwing down our yarn lol with other videos and now Asher finding your video LAST night I'm now successful on all three stitches and my daughters (10&13) are well on their way too! Thank you so much for making this and GOING SLOW, really showing how to hold the yarn and turn the hook... So many details that other "beginner" videos skip. I now have hope I CAN crochet. Thank you!!
This is by far the best Crocheting tutorial I’ve ever found I finally feel like I know what I’m doin rather than just being confused. I would recommend this tutorial to anyone & everyone !! Emma is definitely a great teacher. 🙂
I am 15 years old and I really like crochet, I watched a lot of videos for beginners and almost cried because it was too hard. Today I found this video and I am very happy because this video is very suitable for beginners. Thank you very much... Anyway I'm from Indonesia🇮🇩
OMG!!! FINALLY!!! I’ve watched so many videos and they are all so bad! They go so fast and just don’t teach you anything but you have helped me sooooo much!!! I actually understood everything you said! And can I just say I LOVE your accent!!! 😅 Love this vid!! Keep it up ❤
You explain everything really well. I especially liked when you used a marker to show where the stitches were. That was so helpful and how you pull up the stitches so we can see where the next one is. I can't wait to watch more!
Me who's been making crocheting for years for years: "I must watch this video!" Loved the video! It reminded me of back when I bought my first crochet hook and first started learning how to crochet
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I cannot thank you enough. I have watched tons and tons of beginner tutorials. This is TRULY a beginner tutorial!!!!!!! You made it so easy, I honestly can't believe it!!!!! I'm almost crying because my grandmother tried many times to teach me and I just never got it. Now I can do these stitches as if I have been doing it forever! My Gramz passed away so unfortunately I can't show her, but I just know she would be so proud, so thank you again. ❤❤❤❤
You’re literally amazing, I’ve watched loads of tutorials of experienced crocheters using they’re advanced methods to teach beginners and I really struggled until I came upon your video and did my very first row ♥︎
You are such a lifesaver, thank you so much! Most beginner crochet videos arent as clear and they don't really understand the meaning of BEGINNER. This has helped me so much, I will edit this comment once I make something proper and I will give all the credit to you. I'm hoping to start a shop if I succeed with rhis, as I need to make money so I can visit my family after almost 6 years. Every penny counts and I know people will buy cute crochet projects. Thank you for letting this easy, hassle free video become part of something amazing for everyone. X
finally found a video that goes through the basics! and it was easy to understand and follow as a lefty! double crochet will take some time to figure out, but i'm just glad to be able to do something other than single :D other "beginner" videos just blew through how to do the stitches and i was getting frustrated. plus, as a left-handed person, it's tricky sometimes to mentally flip what they're doing in videos. (i learned how to crochet and knit simple stitch by mirroring my mother and aunt who are right-handed)
omg this is the simplest crochet tutorial out there !! im a complete noob n this rlly helped me compared to the other tutorials since its explained so well,, thank u sm ^__^
I started crocheting today and after following along for about an hour or two, skipping back and pausing constantly lol, I finally got the hang of it!! Really well explained and a wonderful beginner’s video :)
What we LOVELOVELOVE about Emma is that she does the lesson Close Up & NICE & SLOOOW!!!! we've been searching thru a gazillion video's and FINALLY found Emma!!! After producing nothing that looked in anyway functional and ripping it out to start over for the past 2+ weeks THE SEARCH IS OVER!!! Emma P teaches the basics, what tools to use, starting with the slipnot and the best way to hold your hook then you're in to making cool stitches!!! THANKS SO VERY MUCH Emma!!! 🔔🧶😻🥢💟🧶🧷💟🧶🪡😻💟🧶🥢❣🥢💟🧶
This was my day 1 of learning crochet..the other videos for beginners I had almost cried because it's so confusing and very hard to follow. Luckily I've found your video..so many thanks.
OK the perfect crochet lesson aside.... This unironically is the best accidental sleepcast I've ever seen. Such soothing narration. Thank u for sharing
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO! I gave up trying to learn a few months ago because I kept getting confused and frustrated, but your tutorial made it so much simpler for me to understand! My single crochet rectangle is very sloppy, but at least I can actually manage to do it lol thank you again!!!
I'm an absolute beginner and I was a bit frustrated trying and failing to find an actual beginners tutorial, until I found you! This video is super clear, detailed and allowes me to actually follow along. Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to explain everything so slowly and patiently ❤️ Already subscribed now!
This absolutely the best video I've seen, I am a complete beginner and I've watched so many videos and this is by far the best, good talking and excellent video... Thank you
Really great tutorial! I’m a knitter and have knitted so many sweaters, socks, hats, etc. during quarantine that I’ve run out of things to knit so I’ve decided to learn an entirely new skill altogether. 😂 So this video was very helpful in that endeavor.
This is the first time I have felt that I could not only learn to crochet, but actually be somewhat good at it. Emma succeeded where my Grandmother couldn’t. I am really pleased that I. Less than 3 days, I feel as though I have accomplished something! Thanks so much,Emma for your clear directions and excellent video!
What an awesome accent u have! It's a like a mixture of Irish & American(more North or Mid States than Southern)..Anyways,I wish I had found this video b4 the other beginner 1s I watched. It is perfect speed & very thorough & easy 2 understand & see what 2 do..I found it 2 be more helpful in a few ways than other instructional videos. Thank u so much 4 making these great crochet tutorial videos & sharing your methods w/us.
Today all my crocheting supplies were ready to use, so i started with this video (for now only single crochet). This helped me a lot, ofc mine doesnt look as good as yours bc i have to practice a little more to get the hang of it. So thank you! Im so exited to recreate some of your projects.
I’ve had a little desire to learn how to crochet since i need a stress reliever or an anxiety depressor….im happy i found your channel. Btw love your accent
You’re heaven sent!!! Thank you for this tutorial, this is by far the easiest video to follow and I learned so much without having to slow down the actual vid. Thank you so much, I hope you always have a wonderful day 💖
I think what really made this tutorial better is the follow along. As I started, I had difficulty holding the yarn the way shown in the video and my loops were too tight or too loose. My single crochet definitely was funky but as I followed along, I got a grip on how to hold and the tension of the yarn that it got better and my double crochet was more consistent
thank youu for this video im a totally beginner and i want it to learn so bad, i love your tutorials. How much yarn you use for every project approximately And how do you do a decrease love u
Thank you for this! I wanted to learn how to crochet, but i didn’t have yarn, so I’ve been using thread to learn during this video. Let me tell you, it is so much harder, can’t wait till i get yarn 😂
Hi, I've been knitting for 40+ years but always wanted to try crochet, bit hard to start with as I'm use to 2 needles but watching you have leant me more ❤
I almost gave up, but this video talks about finger positioning which no one else does! I bought children’s starter kit and never once does it mention finger positioning. Thank you for this!
Oh my goodness, Thank you! I can't tell you what was different about your video than when my mom tried to teach me 20 then 12 years ago, or when my daughter tried to teach me in 2020. I finally got past the first row! My first square of the first stich you taught came out wonky, but even so I was super proud. The se ond attempt at that stich, the square came out perfect!!! I have to get less splitty (for lack of better terminology) yarn before I can try the second and third stiches. watching July 2024 ❤
You are literally my favourite TH-camr and my crochet inspiration! I have made a lot of your projects and absolutely love the end results 😍 thank you so much for these tutorials ☺️
You are the best one that I have found looking for tutorials on how to crochet! Just about everyone else, seemed to assume that us "beginners" are learning the terminology & just over explain the obvious & under explain the not so obvious.Just confusing. You on the other hand are very clear & way easier to understand. Thanks for that & for sharing.😊😊
I had been struggling on the chain for a while and this helped me figure out it was because I was wrapping it around the hook wrong. Then, because I don’t learn from my mistakes, I did the same thing for the single crochet. This is the first video that actually helped me and I thank you for it! 😊
I'm dealing with anxiety attacks and crocheting helps calm me down. I love your beginner video because the only thing I've done is learn to knit from my mom when I was young.
I've always wanted to crotchet but never understood how to do it. You have made that dream achievable again. Thank you so much for your clear instructions and photography. God bless ❤❤❤❤❤❤
love you!! could you maybe make a short sleeve button up cropped cardigan? I've been looking for a tutorial but I can't find one and I'm sure you'd kill it :)
I used the crochet sweater video to make my cardigan only that I made the front in to two so it could be a cardigan and made sleeve bigger and wrist part tighter
THANK YOU! I have been trying to learn to crochet off and on for about a year. I've watched several videos but they never quite made sense. I've been able to make things but they were never right because, it turns out, I had totally misunderstood the stitches. Yours is the first video that has actually THOROUGHLY explained everything. I think too many other videos have made too many assumptions, whereas you have really carefully explained the minor details that tripped me up over and over.
You just have to keep trying with the tension, its probably one of the trickiest things to figure out! Try to make it as loose as you can without it falling off, and once you have the hang of that try tightening it a bit more. And also your hand will get used to the position, but if you find its too uncomfortable for you you can always use a different method of holding the hook! Theres lots of different ways. But the main thing is is to not give up! Youve got thisss💓💓💓💓💓
Best beginning video I’ve seen. I’m finally coming back to crocheting after raising my kids. I think my young grandkids could learn after I initially teach them. Thank you!

I am so glad!! Thanks so much for watching 💓
I’ve had a little desire to learn how to crochet since i need a stress reliever or an anxiety depressor….im happy i found your channel. Btw love your accent
Thankyou so much this was the easiest tutorial i've come across.
I am so glad to hear that! 💓
THANK YOU !! FINALLY a true beginner tutorial !! The rest just felt like I was watching a foreign video in another language i didnt understand
How much yarn you use for every project approximately
And how do you do a decrease
love u
Hi! It varies depending on how big the project is, but I normally would use anywhere from 100g to 600g depending x
@@emmapcrochet how much for hats
This is the best, most clear beginner crochet video! Thanks a million!
Yep
Thank you for this! I wanted to learn how to crochet, but i didn’t have yarn, so I’ve been using thread to learn during this video. Let me tell you, it is so much harder, can’t wait till i get yarn 😂
Omg thats amazing🤣🤣💓 I cant imagine trying to do this with thread!!!
Hi, I've been knitting for 40+ years but always wanted to try crochet, bit hard to start with as I'm use to 2 needles but watching you have leant me more ❤
even tho i know these basics, im still super excited to watch this! thank u)
Thank you so much💓
Thank you for the best crochet for beginners on you tube ! So nicely explained and no music to distract !
Thank you so much. I’ve been wanting to watch a video about basic stitches, so this is super helpful! ☺️☺️
No problem!! So glad you like💓💓💓💓💓
I almost gave up, but this video talks about finger positioning which no one else does! I bought children’s starter kit and never once does it mention finger positioning. Thank you for this!
these are so useful!!! don't stop making these 😻✨
Thank you so much!!💓💓💓
I’m be watched several ideas and yours is the best by far!!!
Thanks so much!! I was struggling with learning the chain and this helped me thanks you!
Amazing!! I’m so glad I was able to help you out💓💓💓
Oh my goodness, Thank you!
That is amazing!! Thank you so much💓💓💓
gurl you are the best. thank you. I’ve been a knitter for several years but never could learn crocheting until I found this. Thank you
Glad I turned my post notifications on. Always amazing Emma! :-)
Thank you so much!!🥺💓💓
You are the best one that I have found looking for tutorials on how to crochet! Just about everyone else, seemed to assume that us "beginners" are learning the terminology & just over explain the obvious & under explain the not so obvious.Just confusing. You on the other hand are very clear & way easier to understand. Thanks for that & for sharing.😊😊
Thank you so much for making these tutorials 💕
No problem at all! 💓💓💓
❤1:45 mins in and i already love how slow this tutorial is that i can actually see what's happening. Just subscribed to your channel 💖💖💖🧶
Tysm this is so helpful, I bought my yarn and my hook today so I’m ready to start :)
How is it going? ♡
I had been struggling on the chain for a while and this helped me figure out it was because I was wrapping it around the hook wrong. Then, because I don’t learn from my mistakes, I did the same thing for the single crochet. This is the first video that actually helped me and I thank you for it! 😊
ur tutorials are simple and really easy to follow along! i would love if u could create a tutorial for making a beanie :)
Thank you so much! And that is deffo on the list x
Best demonstration of these three stitches I've ever seen. Good job!
Oouh you should maybe try crocheting a hat in a sort of bucket aesthetic way?? 💓 keep up the good work xx
Deffo! Its on the list 💓And thank you so much💓💓💓

@@emmapcrochet I have an aesthetic bucket hat pattern if you would like to use it!
this has to be the BEST beginner video I've ever seen. thank you so much Emma!!!
Would love to see a crochet with me chit chat video !
I would love to do one!! 💓💓💓
I'm dealing with anxiety attacks and crocheting helps calm me down. I love your beginner video because the only thing I've done is learn to knit from my mom when I was young.
I don’t even know why I’m watching this. All I have is a shoelace and a chopstick.
HUHUHEHEHEHIHIHIJHAJHAJHAKREKREKREKEKEKEKEKE
BAHAAHAHHAAHAHHA I’m so sr but this is just so funny 😂 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I've always wanted to crotchet but never understood how to do it. You have made that dream achievable again. Thank you so much for your clear instructions and photography. God bless ❤❤❤❤❤❤
love you!! could you maybe make a short sleeve button up cropped cardigan? I've been looking for a tutorial but I can't find one and I'm sure you'd kill it :)
Hi! I’m actually planning to do that one soon so keep an eye out!! Love u too🥺💓💓
@@emmapcrochet great! Im in the middle of making the purse rn with checkers :)!
Hi, Emma. Could u pls show us how to crochet a dress?!
Yes absolutely! It is on the list💓💓💓
@@emmapcrochet awesome. Thnx🙂☺
Must echo many others here…FINALLY! I can see and under what and how this is done. Thank you!
How do I keep it from being so tight :,( mine came out wonky too :/ my finger hurts😔
Thank you!
I'm so dumb 😭😭😭 this tutorial is easy but most difficult for me😞
I once heard if you are in a class that it’s too easy for you are in the wrong class. You are in the right class
