Yallllll I did ittttt after at least 50 try’s. The trick is to talk to the yarn nicely and be calm with the yarn… The yarn will sense your frustration and use it to its advantage

Bahaha I'm researching into crochet, saw this comment and laughed out loud. Very familiar with the concept of speaking to inanimate objects. I work in IT, do it with computers all the time, so speaking to yarn will be easy!

For all if you that are crying because you cannot do it!!!.
    Listen!...YOU CAN
You need to be very patient and watch the video six times over if need be.
You need to do it EXACTLY how she is teaching you.
    Watch again carefully.
You need the right yarn and the correct needle/ hook for that yarn.
You need to be positive and say to yourselves " I am going to do this".
Then do it SLOWLY AND PRECISELY.
All crafts, arts, playing music snd being creative requires skill.
You have to learn the skill.
Do not be hard on yourselves.
You are trying to do it too fast because you think its easy and thats where you are going wrong.
    Slow down.
All the best and good luck.

Have been crocheting for 30+ years. Great video! She shows beginners how to wrap the yarn around their little and pointer fingers! Notice that her little finger opens and closes a little bit sometimes. The little finger controls the flow of yarn to either; remain the same, slow down, or speed up. If you think you’re crocheting too loosely tighten up your little finger a bit. If you think you’re crocheting too tightly, open your little finger a bit and relax your shoulders. An indentation on your pointy finger means you’re either crocheting too tightly or your yarn is rough/scratchy.

I just found out that I am going to be a Grandma in late April 2021.
So I want to start making blankets and clothes for my grandchild. Yeah!.
We knitted and crocheted back when I was a girl in grade school. We made items, mainly blankets, some girls in the older grades made socks and sweaters, we sent it off to the War effort in Vietnam.
I did make a few items for my children when they were babies, but that was over 45 years ago now.
So I needed to brush up on the techniques.
This internet and TH-cam channel is really something,, it's been especially wonderful during this Global pandemic.
Thankyou so much for sharing your video's here.

Just to put this out there, because I made a silly mistake and I suppose others might make the same:
Make sure you make your slip knot the right way round. I did it the wrong way, which made it tighten when I pulled on the short end and it was nearly impossible to get past that first stitch...

    • @saskia9819

    • @Roozyj
      @Roozyj 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

@Hannat Balogun I assume you figured it out by now, but you gotta make the loop with the other end of the yarn. I don't know by heart which side, so I keep messing it up but then I can correct myself xD But like, if you make a loop with a short end and a long end (where the rest of the yarn is), you gotta put another loop through it and you can make that loop with either the long side or the short side and one of them is correct xD

Mt grandma was apparently trying to help me. She would teach me something entirely different, and when I asked for help, she would ignore me! I'm so thankful that this stuff exists

I was trying to learn to crochet to make a supportive pickle for my friends bday but after all this being the first step I’m just going to buy one! 😂

Started learning how to crochet today at varsity as part of a volunteer program where we make scarfs and winter hats for hospital patients and I have to say I struggled and was overwhelmed, but seeing these videos makes me more excited to continue to learn. Thank you, from South Africa.

Thank you!! I have had a crochet kit scene last Easter 😅
Me and my dad couldn’t get the first stitch so we gave up, and kind of forgot about it
But with a video it’s WAY easier. I’m planing on getting new yarn so I can make more things!
