I've seen the Dyson Airwrap all over social media since it came out 2 years ago, so I finally decided to purchase it and see what I thought about it. I like your honest opnion and as you say every hair is different your seems very straight and soft .. when I tried dyson my curls long at least 4 days; but you have a nice hair... probably the hair dryer is good for you... the goodthing is this type of products dont damage your hair.. the curl iron put my hair like a bay hale... lol thanks for your sharing your opinion
You should NOT have to pin the curls with that price tag. Come on.

I love it when you do reviews. You are tres honest, resourceful with other similar products and speak/advise your audience like we are your sister! That was quite the learning curve re short vs long barrel. I'm sure lots of women have made the same mistakes. I'm still stuck on the baby bliss curling iron but generally speaking my Chinese hair doesn't really hold curls well, maybe 2 hrs tops, even with products. I still enjoy watching you do your hair and always like the results. Thank you for sharing.

I fricking love my dyson airwrap! I have the complete long and also dyson recommends the 20mm barrel for fine hair that doesnt hold a curl well. Also, your hair is way too wet and you keep constantly brushing out the curls!! My curls last 3 days, I hope you will play around and not give up yet!

Thank you so much for this review. I was really on the verge of purchasing this but I thought the curls would last longer. I do like that it doesn’t cause heat damage but I think I will stick with the robe nightly curls that you showed us. Those work great for me!

I was exactly the same! I love overnight rope curls. I get so many comments the next day at work and it’s so easy! The 2 things I like about the Dyson is it doesn’t damage your hair and I love that flat paddle brush that attaches to the Dyson
Guys the review is so genuine... the dryer n paddle brush is good But if you’re looking at curling your hair this product is a total waste of money

Yes the short barrels are the worst unless your just trying to add a little shape to your blowout but not curls. Also the smaller smoothing brushes are more versatile.
My best curl tip is to use the long barrels and then to also duckbill/bobby pin each curl so it can cool 100% so it doesn't drop out.

My tip for everyone with thin fine hair or if you have trouble getting your curls to hold - get the smallest size, 20 mm/0.8" long barrels. Game changer!
They make even smaller longer barrels??? What the heck. Had no idea
@@LaineyMarieBeauty yes I recently bought them and my curls finally last!!! Dyson recommends these barrels for thin hair that won't hold curls/tighter curls. Game changer for sure!!!
Also being careful not to over break your curls is key! Since the curl is made with air, breaking up the curls constantly can make your hair fall flat. When I first tried it, I thought I was going to return it... but a couple months later, i frickin love my dyson airwrap. Best tool I bought for my hair!
I love my Dyson but your right, if you have hair longer then shoulder length hair then the longer barrels are the way to go. I ended up having to purchase those separate.
Also, just a tip try using it like a curling wand. Works great that way. 😉

Hi- loved your review. I see there is a newer 1,8 skinny long barrel. I have long very fine hair. I’m confused if I need the skinniest or the mid size diameter long barrel?

I purchased my Dyson AW via QVC a few months ago. They have extended payment options if that will help anyone. So far, I am really happy with it. I can see and feel a def improvement in my hair, it's a lot softer and healthier.

Been waiting for you to review this! If you knew what you know now wld you re purchase? My hair is hard to curl and I get the best curls using the rope overnight curls. I was thinking of just getting a Dyson hair dryer because it doesn’t damage your hair. Also I only wash my hair once a week (takes me a couple of hours as I do olaplex 100 steps 😂) so I’m not sure. I just want a hair dryer that doesn’t damage my hair. If you can recommend one that wld be great as long as I can get it here in Australia 🇦🇺 . I’ve learned so much about hair from you and love your videos. To be honest I was surprised Dyson didn’t send you the dryer because your channel is all about hair. Honestly, I would probably still purchase 😂! I definitely plan on experimenting more with it! I feel like it has to work because of the price. I will make it work! I’m obsessed with robe curls. Literally my fav! Check out the shark hair dryer. SO good! Has the same type of technology as dyson and half the price. ❤️I have it and LOVE it. Comes with different attachments too.
I have been on the fence about getting it, but now I think I am going to get it! I am hoping the Living Proof Blowout spray that I have will help hold the curls! Thank you for such a thorough and honest review!

I looooove my Dyson. I have medium hair and bought the short barrel one and an additional long barrel set just to be sure I will get curls one way or another. My curls last for 3 days. It replaced all my other hair tools and it is,by far,the best thing I have ever bought for my hair. And the price tag has it’s point in my opinion. Their technology is unique,they did a whole lot of research to come with this product. You can’t expect it to be 30€..

Please post more Airwrap videos! I sadly only have the short barrels and have really struggled to hold curls. Its frustrating. I need to get better with the round brush.

In my professional opinion, you are not drying your hair enough before using the air wrap. you should not see that it is visibly damp. our hair still holds moisture after it looks dry. You should also be using a texturizing or holding product rather than a cream or oil. that gives the hair more slip. I recommend trying sexy hair party foam or redken guts 10. Apply section by section so the hair does not become crunchy before drying. It will give the hair nice hold.

of course! I would definitely love to see you try this again! I am interested but nervous that my curls will not last as well, i have to use a lot of product with just a plain old curling iron for it to stay!

Dyson instructions say to use on clean hair but honestly, I might try it on dirty hair and like you said, just dampen it. Hmm!! Time to experiment :)

Was your hair damp? It’s best to completely dry the hair prior to using the air wrap. 😉 make sure you have some sort of styling product with hold in it
Hi Lainey! So glad you came out with this super honest and thorough review. Like you said: Everyone is talking about their Dyson hair curling kit. I do love that it works with much lower temperatures, but that price tag is more about marketing power than product excellence. Am I right??? Lol. And I really hate that so many people are so willing to be marketing victims of this hype. I'm sure there are tons of people, even kids out there, who are forking out all this money, or convincing their parents to fork out the money, to buy these luxury items just because of the hype machine. Sorry. Rant over. Lol. Great review video!

Honestly the more you stick with the Dyson and learn to use it the better it becomes compared to other hot tools. It's still a luxury but it is worth it imho.

Not worth it in my opinion for the price 😳 You'd think they would throw in the long barrels as well as having the short ones. I like how it doesn't damage the hair. My partner he bought me a VS Sassoon hair curler (curl secret), where it sucks the hair in, in sections and beeps to release and the curls are tight and bouncy and last for about three days. I think I'll stick to that with heat protectant and use sometimes and the famous robe curls, I like the results better. But thanks for your honest review, very helpful. P.S. I am looking to get a curling wand, they seem to do really good curls, I've never used one of those.

I’ve tried a “chi” brand curler that sounds similar to your curl secret. I loved it! Worked great! There’s so many curlers out there. It’s overwhelming Lol. I definitely love robe curls and do those most days. The dyson is definitely time consuming! Thanks for the comment ☺️

Great review, I was thinking about buying but I'm not sure I'd use it enough. It's always on QVC here in the UK but they never mentioned different barrels!
They do say you need product to hold the curl. I don't realty use any products in my hair so I didn't know where to start! 🤷♀️

I think it's worth it. I had the same issue. My husband bought me the short barrels and Sephora actually had the long barrels on their site. I ended up buying the long barrels and i get so many compliments on my hair. Two of my friends have purchased them after they saw my hair

If you watch the demos you are supposed to use styling products with this in order for the curls tonstay in place. Should be used on slightly damp hair and then keep in place until dry and then cool shot. No problems experienced that way.
The last clip with the long barrels, I used a styling cream (Moroccan Oil) and my curls still fell quite a bit. I'll have to keep playing around with styling creams!
@@LaineyMarieBeauty SInce your curls fall out you shouldn’t use a ‘cream’ or ‘oil’ which adds moisture and makes your curls fall. You need to add ‘grit’ to get them to stay, a texturizing spray or a mousse. Also, the thicker barrel only gives you a blow out look, it will not give you curls that last. You can also pin the curls (using the smaller barrel) and hair spray the pinned curls. You also MUST make sure the hair is completely dry before releasing, in your 2nd try video you can see that your left side still was damp. All that said though if you are expecting curling iron results you will be disappointed, it requires high heat to keep those kinds of curls. If you go into it with the expectation of getting pretty voluminous waves rather than curls, you will like it better I hope!
Ulta carries the long barrels separately, that is where I bought mine.

I’ve just saved up enough to buy one of these but the long barrel version is out of stock absolutely everywhere in Ireland and also the UK. I’ve gone as far as looking at some French websites to try to find it but still no luck. The short barrel is in stock everywhere.
Oh no! I think that speaks volumes if short barrels are in stock and long barrels aren’t 😳I tried several times to make those darn short barrels work. I don’t even feel like my hair is that long compared to some peoples. Ugh! Super frustrating! Hope they come in stock soon for you!

I agree their website is confusing. And the customer care gave me all wrong information. I did my research and purchased the Persian blue and it didn’t have the combs that they show on the website. They didn’t again give me a clear answer when I contacted the customer service. They told me to check with Best Buy. It’s all confusing. For purchasing an expensive hair dryer it shouldn’t be this complicated.
Spray each curl once it's cool, then leave it, don't finger comb them at all, they will fall themselves and last longer. You do need to spray.
What do you spray each curl with? Just water or some kind of styling spray?
I have exactly the same with my hair and I have used it for over a year now! I also kept it but unfortunately it doesn't hold my curls too.

I would like to ask a q how can a person who can only use one hand use the dyson airwrap. If they can make a rotating brush tht would be totaly awesom
The hair wraps around the barrel but you still have to twist it up to the top of your head and sometimes hair can fall off it. Check out the beach waves. You could definitely use that with one hand. It’s easy to use too!
okay so I wish I would have figured this out before I ordered, I have the same hair texture and thickness and answered questions the same as you and ordered the long custom, figured out later if you say you have fine hair that doesnt hold curl in the quiz they actually give you the 0.8 barrels too at no extra cost

Yes you can. You can call Dyson customer service and ask them to swap one of the attachments that you don’t have the need for for the one you want. Hope this helps

After straightening my hair with the brush attachment it goes frizzy again in about an hour. You have to have so much time to use this product to style your hair, might as well learn how to give yourself a blow dry using a round brush and hairdryer. Wish I hadn’t wasted so much money

Long barrels, 100% For the US, the long barrels are only available with the pink & purple set.
Why doesn’t it come with paddle brush and detangle comb ? On the website I saw it.

The lipstick is by juvias place. It’s called “Mademoiselle” and the gloss is by morphe in the shade “Boho.” I think I added a nude liner here too in the shade “Natural” from NYX! ☺️

My question is why hasn't Dyson sent you this to try out?? Come on hair brands, get on that!! Maybe try a multi purpose heat protectant like Pureology 21 Essential Color Fantatic that will add a bit of hold without making your hair crunchy or stringy. I've watched so many videos on it and it just doesn't seem to have the staying power that I would want from something with that price tag. To be fair, most like it after figuring it out. I guess you have to play with it for a while. My hair is so fine and it's curly/wavey but does not hold curl at all so If it doesn't hold in your hair, it definitely won't hold in mine.

I see some people rave about how their dyson curls last for days. I’m wondering if hair texture/length has anything to do with it. I still like the product and I definitely plan to keep trying different ways to make those darn air wrap curls stay!!

You doing the curls on very wet hair, I’ve watched so many videos and all of them do the curls on hair 90% dry! Please watch Dyson’s tutorial, the girls in the demo have the hair almost dry. My hair is similar to yours and my curls surprisingly last 2 days! To compare my curls wouldn’t last 1 day when I do with a curler. You just have to find the perfect dampness.

The oil you used with the longer barrels invalidates your comparison! Also, where’s the side-by-side comparison? (I still hit Like)

I have short hair (chin length) and even I bought the long barrel version. Dyson should just discontinue the short barrels. It's a shame they don't let you customize the gift edition with long barrels that match.

Watch Lorna Wongs video. Her video makes all the difference how she uses the brush first for volume then goes in with the curler. Your hair looks similar to mine and I do not mean this in a mean way but it looks like you are using a product that is weighing it down.

Nothings going to hold with hair that wet! Water equals weight. It’s not even dry after you’ve finished.
Dont buy it!!! If it breaks down, like it happened rwice to my daughter in 4 years since we bought it (the firt time we were under the guarantee so we got a new one) but this time around we didnt and at the special dyson repai shop they said that they could not repair it because the problem was with tje motor and they are manufactured in Malasya so there is nothing to be done!!! To the trash and buy a new $700 airwrap!!!
My daughter is devastaded, she spent all her saving in this contraption and took really good care of it, cleaning it constantly. So mu suggestion, unless you are willing to dpend that amount of money on a piece of faulty disposable technology… DONT DO IT!!!!!

You’re not meant to wrap your hair around……
well, the short barrels are for short hair and the long barrels for long hair, obviously. so why should you get both in one set…?! either you have short hair and then the short barrels work better or the other way… if your hair is like shoulder long then go for the long ones, also if you want your hair to grow! the long ones can work on short hair as well, but the short barrels on long hair don‘t.

I don’t think it’s very obvious that the short barrels are for short hair. I see people with hair as long as mine using the short barrels all over social media. Also, major retailers like Sephora and Ulta only sell the “short” barrels and no where on those websites do they call them “short barrels” or say it’s only for short hair. It’s definitely not obvious. If I would have gone to the Dyson website first then maybe I would have realized they sell long barrels too. I’m sure there’s other people like me that are not aware, so I’m glad I made this video and can help others not make the mistake I did. ❤️
I’d never pay that much for a hair product! All Dyson products are overpriced.
But they really do last forever. My hair dryer is 26 years old and my vacuum is 11 years old. They both work top notch but than some brand new products by other companies.
I do think the price is outrageous. This thing better last me until I die Lol
