Charlie is immune to extermination because Lucifer only approved extermination for sinners (the souls of humans), Lute said that Charlie is only alive because she is a hellborn. So it only applies to human souls, not to hellborn like Charlie, or in other examples, IMPS, like Helluva boss
So the main characters in this show (Angel Dust, Husk, Alastor, etc.) are all sinner demons, meaning they were once human but were semt to hell because of their sins. The sinners each have some powers and a body that somehow ironically connects to how they died/who they were in life, like how Alastor was shot because he was mistaken for a deer in the woods, and now is a deer demon. Sinners cannot leave the pride ring, which is ruled by Lucifer. Then there are the hell-born demons, like Charlie (who is about 200 years old). There are also the 7 deadly sins, who rule the 7 rings of hell. The main cast of Helluva Boss is in this tier, with the exception of Stolas who is a Goetia. Finally, there are overlords. These are demons, some sinners some hellborn, who own the souls of sinners. Sinners make deals, sell their souls, and this grants overlords power. Alastor is an overlord. Hope this helps
Okay so the denizens of Hell are split into two groups: Sinners and Hellborn, but both are called Demons. Sinners were once human, and have now died, with their soul manifesting in Hell as a Sinner Demon. Hellborn are native to Hell-imps, hellhounds, succubi, the Ars Goetia, and the Seven Deadly Sins make up this group. Charlie is by default a Hellborn, though her parents are a fallen angel and the first human woman, and as such this makes her a Nephelim. Sinners typically cannot die, as they are a manifestation of an immortal human soul, and will return after a temporary, painful death. While Hellborn are typically excluded from the yearly Exterminations, they are only exceptionally durable, not immortal, and will die by typical means. However, angelic steel has properties that allow weapons made of the stuff to permanently erase a soul, and can even kill higher-level demons like the Ars Goetia (according to Helluva Boss).
2:16 You have NO idea how right you are about Adam right here. 3:18 They explain that later in the episode but basically yeah, Hellborne demons(As in demons who are born in hell) have a special pardon. Exterminations only target Sinner demons So in that entire meeting alone we can kinda see how Adam, the first human soul in heaven, encompasses all 7 deadly sins. 13:26 It explains why Lucifer didn't want to go to this meeting. Adam is, like, his wife's ex, can you imagine how awkward that meeting would be? 14:15 Some demons are born in hell, some are not. 16:26 Yes. Angels just have so much more raw power over demonkind. No matter how good a fighter a demon is, a long as they rely on demonic power they can never beat an angel 17:11 Yes, like every other hellborne demon
To your point about how angels have much more raw power than demons, I really love that they did that because it's very accurate to christian mythology Edit: I'm using mythology as in "a collection of myths or stories about a specific person, culture, religion, or any group with shared beliefs" not as in "a dead religion" Just wanna clarify that.

Lilith in the biblical myths did actually follow Lucifer in hell! She is an idol of feminist movements throughout centuries because she rejected Adam and made her own path, even though that one was tougher. Also why the rebellious woman is considered a bad thing in many cultures... Edit: thanks everyone for letting me know she is not exactly a biblical character!
Extra-biblical myth. Lilith is mentioned only once in the bible and that was in a semi-metaphorical way about how after the destruction of a city, Lilith and wild animals made their home in the ruins
Lilith in the bible as Hazbin Hotel is portraying her and as you mentioned are all revisionism used to explain Lilith being mentioned once much later in the bible as a succubus of sorts. Rebellious women aren't a "wrong" thing in cultures because of this, it was a combination of traditional gender roles which was something humans needed throughout the centuries to survive, at least during war-striken times through the medieval period. Another factor is religious upbringing which sprung male social domination pretty much globally, until about the 21st millennia.
Oh no, Lilith only appears in the Jewish Bible once, I mean, you can totally take her as a feminist figure, but it's not like she's a really biblical character.
So Charlie managed to survive the exterminations because she was born there, the difference between natives of hell (like the imps in Helluva Boss) and Sinners (who are the souls of the people who end up there) is that the natives were never alive and were born in Hell and the angels target only sinners bacause they are the ones that will just regenerate in hell if they are not killed by angelic weapons, natives on the other hand can't regenarate. All this to say that Charlie is not only a native of hell but also the DAUGHTER OF LUCIFER, so she is certainly not a target.
No, because without eating that apple he would not have bought sin into the world. Though human souls can't become angels either. So this series is "based on a real story" which is to say, 1% of it.
I didn't like watching the episodes solo cause they just don't feel complete as single episodes but the whole season in one sitting is fucking awesome. The songs, the characters, it's all so good.
I don't know. I felt like the the set up > problem > resolution structure most of the episodes use, especially the first few, felt exactly like the old WB/Disney Afternoon cartoons with how they are structured episodically. Charlie's persona clearly being derived from a Disney princess and so much of the show's art style being basically "Disney Gothic" just enhanced that feeling. Like take the crude language out and Sir Pentious could be a Darkwing Duck villain. I thought the episodes all worked even by themselves, personally.
I love this cast so much 😂 Erika Henningsen (Cady from Mean Girls on Broadway), Alex Kingston (Beetlejuice on Broadway), Jeremy Jordan (Bonnie & Clyde, Newsies, etc), Christian Borle (Legally Blonde on Broadway, Something Rotten, etc), Keith David (Princess & the Frog, Gargoyles), Stephanie Beatriz (Encanto, In the Heights) - it's just musical theatre nerd heaven, ironically
Someone should make a comprehensive video explaining concepts in the show that aren't outright said. Cuz the show can't easily lay down the facts like the difference between Sinners vs Hellborn beings, Sinners being human souls that go to hell and get a new demonic form reflecting their nature or how they died. While hellborn are creatures that just live in Hell for one reason or another, like imps and fallen angels. It's a whole lot of worldbuilding and lore that would drag down the pacing to dump on the audience. So if someone made a comprehensive 'guide to the Helluva Hazbin-verse' that'd be something to recommend to anyone watching the series.
basically, how hell and death works in this universe (without spoiling stuff) Angels and demons can be either hellborn, created by a different demon/angel (Charlie's Pets, Keekee, Razzel and Dazzel are all created by Lucifer for example as stated by Vivzie during a QNA) or can be send to their respective afterlife after their human death. When it comes to animals, most seem to be born there. Both sinners and Winners (Heaven's equivelent to sinners) as well as possibly hellborns can be killed, but will reform after dying unless the used weapon is made of Angealic steel. If they are killed by an Angealic weapon, it's assumed they just vanish into non-existence.
Hellborn of Noble families such as the Ars Goetia or the Deadly Sins can only be permanently harmed by Angelic weapons, while regular weapons can be used to kill regular hellborn.
Hell critters are their own thing, some are constructs made by powerful beings (Razzle, Dazzle, Keykey…) but others (fat nuggets, the shark that stalks Moxie, the chihuahua fly things that fizz has, the bugs…) are just native things to the hell rings, more or less just hellish variants of earth’s beings. Some have always been in hell, some were originally constructs but became native, others just… showed up. Heaven apparently has a good amount of similar things too.
Since u asked if Charlie was immune to the extermination: basically yes, Lucifer, when agreeing to the extermination part of the deal was that him and Charlie to be excluded
Get tissues for episode 4. It’s the best episode of season 1 IMO, but it’s HEARTBREAKING AF! Has some funny moments too and a little bit of Chaggie cuteness sprinkled in, but a majority of the episode is terrifying and sad. I cry every single time. Screw the controversy that episode has the people that complain about it glorifying the situation are dead wrong! It handles the situation with so much care and respect and doesn’t sugar coat *ANYTHING!*
Yaaaaaas! I was waiting for this! 2:15 - I love how you list Adam as "Andrew Tate's Ancestor" and then Lilith as "kinda a baddie". Shrek is DreamWorks, which I'm guessing must've been another inspiration for this... since the way some characters are and how some things are told feels more on par with DreamWorks than Disney. I mean, you'll find out later in this episode, but yeah, she survived because her family are exempt from the exterminations for the most part. Cats are adorable. No wonder Hazbin has like two, one in terms of Husk and one in terms of the one-eyed demon cat. "I don't know what I expected from a demon, but he's being really mean." That's not even Alastor being a demon, that's just Alastor being himself and being petty as heck and wanting Charlie to fail at every turn so he can be entertained. Especially this early on in the game. Yup, Alastor, Petty King. To be fair, I experience attraction to guys and even I wouldn't be up for doing freaky things on or off screen w/ Angel Dust. 13:32 - Excuse me, Mathew, how dare you show such disrespect by refusing to call the first man "Dickmaster"? xD I honestly love Lute and Adam's little duo relationship thingy - like, sure, they're both dicks, but...
I love the detail that, even before it's revealed that Alastor inherently messed with any cameras filming him, you can see that whenever his hand appears on-screen during his ad, the screen briefly freaks out.
I’m so happy right now Hazbin hotel and the good place are both my top favorite shows that I have loved for years! I feel like not enough people talk about the good place!
-Angels can kill demons because of their weapons -Angels can not be killed by normal means which is why the demons dont try attacking them normally (aside from the dead angel) -If demons are killed by anything that jsnt a angel's weapon they can regenerate slowly in a painful way -Keekee the cat is a key that lucifer turned into a cat. -there are hell born demons like imps hellhounds etc -no the roaches are not demons haha ^.^

lol I was just binge watching your Hazbin Hotel song reactions and hoping you would release a reaction to the show coz the story is soooo good! And this pops up after uploaded after 3 min 🤣🤣
3:19 the deal was that the exterminations would only eliminate SINNERS, souls who were condemned to hell. Charlie was born in hell, so she’s not affected (same thing for razzle, dazzle and keekee btw)
1:35 In a lot of biblical texts, especially old Jewish ones, God himself was not responsible for making the Earth. It was a collective effort of the Elohim, high ranking angles who descended from El. 3:06 No idea if it's still canon, but Charlie is supposedly just 200 years old. 14:00 Hell has it's own wildlife. Not only are there cockroaches and cats, but also pigs and these little fly-chihuahua things.

Here's how hell works Mathew, humans who go to hell become sinners stuck in the Pride Ring, there are 7 rings layered on top of each other, the circles are part of the pride ring itself seperating the ring into pieces. Natural demons that weren't human are called Hellborne, like the main cast from Helluva Boss with Moxxie, Millie, and Blitzo being Imps the second lowest class followed by Loona a Hellhound who is part of the lowest spieces of Hell. In order of Rings it's Pride, Wrath, Gluttony, Greed, Lust, Envy, & Sloth Red/Orange/Yellow/Green/Blue/Purple/Pink with seven princes/princesses in order Lucifer/Satan/Beelzebub/Mammon/Asmodeus/Levithan/Belphogor(sp?). For Hell's hirarchy it's Lucifer then Lilith & Charlie, then the 7 princes, the Ars Goetia, then the Overlords, human Sinners, then Hellborne not including Imps, then Imps, and finally Hellhounds. Hellbornes have naturally longer lifespans than humans except maybe the Imps, so groups like the seven sins and Ars Goetia are nearly immortal, same with Lilith & Charlie who can be killed with Angelic weaponry. Lucifier can only be killed by an angel equal to or higher power than himself, as for the Overlords and Sinners they are essentially immortal if killed by anything other than angelic weaponry, they will just respawn painfully later unless they are consumed fully with nothing to regerate from, trapped in a never-ending cycle of pain and suffering while still technically alive. This is what the cannibals and Alastor do which is why they have their own section of the Pride Ring away from the rest of the ring.
If you want to react to some other songs from Hazbin, there is "Heaven2Hell" which is also sung by Black Gryph0n (Alastor's original singing voice), and "Thank You and Goodnight" which is a farewell song from the original voice actors for the characters from the pilot! I'd be really interested in seeing you react to those.

Lucifer is hands down the best character. Can’t wait for you to get to episode 5.
2:16 You have NO idea how right you are about Adam right here.
3:18 They explain that later in the episode but basically yeah, Hellborne demons(As in demons who are born in hell) have a special pardon. Exterminations only target Sinner demons
So in that entire meeting alone we can kinda see how Adam, the first human soul in heaven, encompasses all 7 deadly sins.
No matter how good a fighter a demon is, a long as they rely on demonic power they can never beat an angel
17:11 Yes, like every other hellborne demon
To your point about how angels have much more raw power than demons, I really love that they did that because it's very accurate to christian mythology
Edit: I'm using mythology as in "a collection of myths or stories about a specific person, culture, religion, or any group with shared beliefs" not as in "a dead religion"
Just wanna clarify that.
@@tami7992 And this show does a good job demonstrating that, especially in the very last episode
@@Ashurman666 I agree with that. I don't think I've ever seen a show or movie do this so well
i don't think it id explsined in lster episodes just that one line.
"I hate him now, wait, I just said I love him. I'm so confused!!" Literally the entire fandoms thoughts on Adam.
Character names because idk
Happy blonde girl-Charlie
Girl with an x for eye- Vaggie
Smiley red guy- Alastor
Horny pink spider- Angel Dust
Keith David cat- Husk
Yellow and black angel- Adam
Grey angel- Lute
Scary one eye girl- Nifty
Blonde News reporter- Katie Killjoy
News reporter with the gas mask- Tom Trench
"Keith David Cat" this will be the 2nd time he was that, as he also played the cat in Coroline.
Just more proof that most religions are a cult.
A belief is fine, but making money off it is ridiculous.
Ur right she’s a feminist which makes her a villain
Just imagine. If Lucifer never made Eve eat that apple, then EVERYONE would act like Adam.
It's like an extra long animated Broadway musical, just like Disney used to do.
@@SobiTheRobotyou mean should do
I don't know.
So if someone made a comprehensive 'guide to the Helluva Hazbin-verse' that'd be something to recommend to anyone watching the series.
basically, how hell and death works in this universe (without spoiling stuff)
Angels and demons can be either hellborn, created by a different demon/angel (Charlie's Pets, Keekee, Razzel and Dazzel are all created by Lucifer for example as stated by Vivzie during a QNA) or can be send to their respective afterlife after their human death.
MATHEW FINALLY started to watch HAZBIN HOTEL and at last I feel like my life is complete
Same now I can’t wait for the next episodes
been waiting for this moment my whole life
Hell critters are their own thing, some are constructs made by powerful beings (Razzle, Dazzle, Keykey…) but others (fat nuggets, the shark that stalks Moxie, the chihuahua fly things that fizz has, the bugs…) are just native things to the hell rings, more or less just hellish variants of earth’s beings.
FINALLYYYYY! I swear I flipped when I saw the notification 😂
13:32 - Excuse me, Mathew, how dare you show such disrespect by refusing to call the first man "Dickmaster"? xD
I honestly love Lute and Adam's little duo relationship thingy - like, sure, they're both dicks, but...
The eye for an eye line from adam hits hard later on in the season
Having rewatched Hazbin Hotel 3 times in one sitting, it's so weird seeing the show mirrored 😭
19:59 Mathew’s description of the Angels in this could easily also describe the Nazis in real life.
-Angels can kill demons because of their weapons
-Angels can not be killed by normal means which is why the demons dont try attacking them normally (aside from the dead angel)
-If demons are killed by anything that jsnt a angel's weapon they can regenerate slowly in a painful way
-Keekee the cat is a key that lucifer turned into a cat.
-there are hell born demons like imps hellhounds etc
-no the roaches are not demons haha ^.^
If you’d like to hear more of Alex Brightman’s singing I reccomend listing to and/or watching the musical episode of Dead End Paranormal Park. He plays one of the main antagonists and one of main protagonists in the show. In one song both of his characters have a duet and it’s so interesting to listen to
“Took ya long enough mox!”
Charlìe is actually just over 200, she hasnt been around as long as her parents or the other deadly sins
lol I was just binge watching your Hazbin Hotel song reactions and hoping you would release a reaction to the show coz the story is soooo good!
0:06
You could even say "I've been waiting, wanting the same thing."
So long as no hellborn are harmed or killed Lucifer will not interfere
Not gonna lie it'd be really cool if Mathew reacted to the Billie Bust up songs, there are only two but they're both super catchy and sung by Hazbins Pilot version of Alastor and Angel Dust! :)
17:42 yeah i love the grit in his voice too but i personally like his voice better as fizzoralli
Adam is voiced by alex brightman, the voice of Beetlejuice from beetlejuice the musical, and fizzarolli from helluva boss, his voice ks very good at going very gritty
Yes yes YES! We've been waiting for your reaction to the Hazbin Hotel series Mathew thank you so much for making our day with this amazing reaction vid!!!
I highly recommend reacting to "Just Look My Way" it is fantastic!
I can't wait to see your reaction to more hazbin hotel stuff :)
Ngl you are the first youtuber who pauses a lot but I dont mind and still enjoy the reaction video. Love your commentary ❤
10:19
Sinners regenerate after some time, only Angel weapons can kill then permanently.
Fun Fact, they only have a few regenerations, before they become part of Hell. Thats why some buildings have Teeth and Eyeballs.
18:37 well I mean they DID listen, they just didn’t care 😂
YES!!! I've been waiting for you to watch this series for the last few months!!! Would love to watch more videos of you watching the rest of the series!! Alastor is one of the coolest and funniest characters in my opinion! He's morally grey and Acesexual, which makes him entertaining and hilarious!
3:31 KeeKee, because she's the Key
I love seeing how your reaction to the songs changes now that you have the context for them.
It's only been 2 minutes since you uploaded but MAT I AM HERE AND I AM READY FOR THIS REACTION 😂❤
10:47 "Wait what did he do with that pencil?!"
I should not be laughing this fudging hard, love Mathew lmao!! 😂😂😂
Hope you react to ride the cyclone musical soon!
Angels are inherently more powerful than demons, a random angel foot soldier is comparable to the powerful demon overlords
YEEEESSS YES YES YES I'M SO EXCITED. IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS 👏👏👏
If you want to react to some other songs from Hazbin, there is "Heaven2Hell" which is also sung by Black Gryph0n (Alastor's original singing voice), and "Thank You and Goodnight" which is a farewell song from the original voice actors for the characters from the pilot! I'd be really interested in seeing you react to those.
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS MY ENTIRE LIFE
THE TIME HAS COME!!
Oooo man I was sooo hyped to see this! Lol my man is already asking the big questions. The majority of your heaven questions will be answered in a later ep you won't get a whole lot of information on heaven until that ep. 🙃
Excited for the next one!!!!!
You are a delight to watch. And I hope you enjoy season 1. This series has become a favorite of mine

He should really react to songs from Newsies now lol
AAAAAAAAA IM SO HAPPY YOU'RE FINALLY DOING THIS!! definitely continue reacting to the rest of the series bc it is SO worth it :))
13:48 it really hard to tell that Adam breaks the 4th wall there, since their eyes doesn't have pupils...
I'm so glad you watched (and reacted) to this episode ! The songs are amazaing but so is the writing
Yay we finally get Hazbin hotel
FINALLY!!!! I’m SO EXCITED RN
I was waiting for this ❤
God made Eve from Adam's rib, and Adam seems to love eating ribs
You’ll learn next episode why he hates technology
Charlie's cat keekee is a magical key given to her by her mother. I think it's the key to hell or the hotel. We always see keekee on the intro title
