Yama is not just the God of Death. He's also called Dharmaraj, the King of Dharma. He's given this title because he never strays away from his Dharma.
The other demi gods may become selfish and proud of their powers. But Yama doesn't. He always performs his Dharma, that is, to take the souls(death) of the people to his abode when their time is up. He never backs away from it.
There are only a few instances he had to give back the life and that was only because of any boons or on the order of the Trinity.

in Hinduism, there aren't millions of gods. there is one universal superconsciousness - called Brahman. That consciousness projects infinitely and takes the role of different personalities - gods, deities, humans, and animals. It's the same superconsciousness that prevails everywhere and in everyone in every atom. even the most "impure" things are made of the same "god particle". So nothing is impure - everything is divine. Hence the concept of multiple divinities. because everything is divine.

You have something called as "Ista-Devata" or the "God-you-like". There are millions of demigods and you need to find one that suits your personality, your emotion and your mindset. Sometimes you will get inclined towards a specific god without you realizing and that is when you emotionally connect with that god (this happens even for those who don't want to believe in any god). The most peculiar thing about us Hindus is that we can chose to not believe in gods, not go to temple or place of worship, not believe in anything but Science and, yet, have one god in our heart (no, that's not hypocritical and that's strange). Some of the gods are associated with certain geographies i.e., some gods and goddesses are worshiped only in northern part of India and some in Southern part of India. Even Jesus Christ can qualify as "Ista-Devata" and some Christians and even Muslims visit temples of their likes. Welcome to India..

No Yamaraj isn't similar to devil. If u wanna make a comparison then u could say he is a bit similar to greek god hades in a way that they both aren't actually associated with evil despite being associated with death as they both simply performs their duties of maintaining that balance between birth and death.

I want to clear one of the biggest misconception regarding the number of gods. I agree, there are a lot of gods in Hinduism, but the tag "33 millions gods" stems from the fact that we have "33 koti Gods" where koti means, both, "millions" and "categories". And now it gets interpreted as 33 millions gods.

Gita 7:21. Whichever manifestation (of the Divine) any devotee desires to worship with faith - that faith I make unshakeable and firm.
So one can indeed worship any divine deity as long as he/she is aware that the god/goddess is the personal maifestation of the supreme reality brahman given personal attributes by the devotte based on their own experience i.e subjective perspective.
That Personal God in his great wisdom and compassion accepts the devotee in whatever why she or he wants - without judgement, knowing in omniscience that whatever we worship is indicative of the Absolute only.
If God doesn’t know that we are worshiping him alone through the icon then he is obviously not omniscient and unworthy to be called God.
If he demands that everyone worship him in one single form then he is a jealous, tyrannical control freak and also unworthy of our adoration.
If he eternally punishes those who think of him in any other way than what he approves of, then he is a selfish, egotistical, psychopath and should also be booted out of heaven!

There are only 33 supreme gods in Hinduism. "33 Koti" is the word mentioned in all the scriptures. " "Koti" has 2 meanings "million" and "supreme" other gods and goddesses are personification of what A COMMUNITY see as their "everything" For eg. Rain and earth are everything for a farmer, without the proper amount of rain crops will die of famine or floods, so they worship goddess Bhumi and gods Indra and Varun. For a Brahmin (teacher/educator/pursuer of knowledge) knowledge is everything so they worship (mostly) Brahma, Saraswati, Ganpati and Dutta. NOW, a cow herd (dairy farmer) is dependent on grass feed which in turn means rains so they worship God Indra, etc. BUT BUT BUT. When God Indra became too prideful, Krishna the avatar of Vishnu guided cow herds to worship a perennial forest covered mountain.

Okey so in every hindu's life there is an importance of 3 gods, one is the geographical/village deity who is referred as grama devata, this is dependent on the location you are settled in like you mentioned about water god in deserts etc, another is the family/ancestral deity who is referred as kula devata, in most of the sects this deity is from paternal lineage but in some sects its from maternal lineage as well, and 3rd is the personal god which is referred to as ishta devata this you can decide for your self which god you want to pray as your ishta devata if you don't want god then you can keep this blank or may be a personality you are a fan of, basically anything that works for you.

Just understand it like that. There is one God often referred to as Brahman or Paramatma. He's the source of all energy.
All others are the personification of the Brahman.
1.When he's the creator, he's called Brahma. And for creation you need knowledge. Hence, his consort is Saraswati - the goddess of Knowledge.
2.When he's the Preserver, he's called Vishnu. And for Preservation you need wealth and good fortune. Hence, his consort is Lakshmi the goddess of Wealth, prosperity and Good fortune.
3.When he's the destroyer, he's referred to as Shiva. For destruction you need power and strength. Hence, his consort is Shakti(first born as Sati, then Parvati - there is a big story about this) the goddess of Strength, Power and Energy.
4.The Trinity and their consorts are the supreme beings and considered the Brahman (The Male and Female energies together make the Brahman).
    5. And there are some gods who are associated with the Trinity - their sons/daughters/avatars/or just a form of them.
6.All others can be called Demi Gods. They are governed by The Trinity. They are the personification of various matters, emotions and materials in nature which are required for the existence of Mankind. They are delegated the work of preservation of the creation. They are often depicted as Royalty.
Heaven is their Kingdom, Indra is their King, Brihaspati is their Guru.

If you think the Indian Gods as persons then you can better relate. Each God has its own domain and powers. That is why people celebrate or worship all the Gods and not one. We pray to Hanuman to give us strength to face our fear, Ganesh when anyone starts a new work, Lakshmi for wealth and prosperity. And each God has its own story or role to play. One thing that they didn't mention much is the relationships between the Gods. Also the Gods have many avatars like Vishnu has Ram and Krishna and all of them are worshipped.

Yama is also called Dharma raj, the first mortal to die, the one who judges the damned souls and upholds dharma or righteousness… he is not equal to the devil in Christianity ✝️ but more like Hades in Hellenic mythology, anubis in Egyptian or Hela in Norse. Difference is Hinduism predates all of them above & Yama is a positive figure since we accept death and acknowledge it. ❤

1)Its not hindu mythology its not a myth its real and history for us ... we dont say christian mythology so i think the world needs to get over that
2)in hinduism there is only one god concept like all other religions and we call it parambrahmha or brahman ... which takes form in various gods and godess to make interaction with devotees
3)In hinduism there are 33 koti gods which means 33 types of god but koti also means 10 million so non hindus confuse it with that so the 33 types of gods are:-
    11 rudras
    2 ashwini kumars
    8 vasus
12 adityas that sums up to 33
4)Hinduism aint a religion because we are not ppl of book like christians muslims and jews are they follow one book like bible quran or torah .. similarly religion is founded by someone like jesus muhammad buddha so going by all this logic neither we have a founder nor we follow 1 book and term hinduism was given by britishers we call it sanatan dharma... and term hindu is given by persians to ppl who live near indus river
5)ok so in hinduism there are many words like ishwar, bhagwan, devta and so on and they mean different things like ishwar is parambrahm or brahman(similar to allah for muslims) ... then bhagwan means the trimurti which are shiva vishnu and brahma and then comes devta or dev which are below bhagwan in rank (all the gods except the supreme 3 gods are dev) .. but in english all 3 terms translates to god but in hindi or any other indian language all 3 are different and are in hirearchy
6)Brahma did not create saraswati (goddess of knowledge).. she was created by vishnu in Gaulok(a realm in which vishnu lives in krishna avtar)
7)Yama is not lord of underworld he is called as Dharmaraj which means king of dharma so whatever he does is an example to mankind that u need to follow so that dharma can be performed
8)Indra is considered super hero in vedas but same indra is considered a bad guy or villian in puranas its because indra is the name of position of god of heaven or god of all deities ... so there were many indras in this world so in vedas he is considered super hero because maybe the previous gods on indra position must be good and in puranas he is considered villian because maybe the later gods on indra position must be bad because vedas were written before puranas
9)since there are no million gods in hinduism so we cant add more gods to the list as there are only 33 types of god which i have mentioned above
10)and yes there is no blasphemy in hinduism even a man named shishupal abused lord krishna on his face for 100 times and krishna forgave him 100 times so yes u can abuse hindu gods but as a hindu do we encourage it ? no absolutely not... will we kill u like some muslims did when a french newspaper company made a cartoon of allah ?? no we are also not like that but yes we will call u out for that
11)Hanuman aint depicted as an ape .. many ppl confuse vanar word for monkey or ape cuz in hindi vanar means monkey but valmiki while writing ramayan used term vanar for species who dwells in forest and used adjectives like humans for them so definitely hanuman aint like ape or monkey .. its just his face is swelled up because of a reason which i cant remember right now but yes its a valid reason i read it when i was a kid
    12) now i will tell u that he mentioned durga kali sati and parvati in the video as 3 gods but lol they are one ... durga sati and kali are forms of parvati(sati was previous life form of parvati, durga and kali form of parvati appears when she fights demons) thats why non hindus think we have millions of gods as they consider forms and avatar of gods as different gods ... its similar for radha and lakshmi they are one radha is a form of lakshmi
    13) since to attain moksha(the end goal of hindu life) u need to merge ur soul with parambrahm or brahman but while living here u can chose any form of parambrahm which u connect the most or like the most like for me i like hanuman ji and krishna ji the most so i worship them.. some ppl like shiva the most so they worship them its purely based on ur liking depending on the text u have read
14)As a hindu myself i dont know many gods mentioned in this video so i m really sorry for my ignorance
15)Near death experience and transmigration or reincarnation all are parts of hinduism it is said in my house like if a person dies with an unfulfilled wish he is reincarnated too early... for getting a human form u need 84 lakh births but based on ur good karmas those can be skipped and u will get a human form in 2-3 births but there is also a case like if my grandfather has a wish to see me have a child and he dies with that wish without seeing his/her face then my grandfather soul will replace the soul of my child in my wife's womb and will be born as a child ... so there are many mysteries in this field

Gods and goddesses are not chosen it’s more like in which form we feel more connected to the divine. For example: if I bought a new car or have started a factory or doing any engineering stuff we will look upto god Vishvakarma. So on and so forth. Whatever element you feel u are the closest with , like a role model.

Indra is the Indo-European god resembling Thor and Perum and Zeus, he is the embodiment of heroism, he battled the serpent dragon demon vritrya aka the world serpent Jörmungandr, he is know as the destroyer of forts, saviour of priests, cows and horses, he is the embodiment of lightning and thunderstorms, you will feel him striking whenever their is a lightning storm ⛈️ he is in your heart, the king of demigods in the heavens, he is Jupiter himself, Indra is but still just a title and a position… their have been around 14 Indra’s till now & continuing… he dies and another demigod with good karma takes his place as Indra dev 🙌🏼 he is the embodiment of bravery and boldness, he killed demons when he was 3 years old. The mighty Indra was cursed by a sage to have thousand of eyes all over his body, that Indra has long past died now, now he could be an ant, or an antipope or a human like us. There is another Indra in the heavens now, looking at us when we are brave, mocking us when we act as a coward.. 😊

Indra is the King of demi gods,
    Varuna is the Demi god
    Dhata is demi god
BTW, Yama is not evil. He means control the underworld he is thats lord. Even The hell of abrahamic is Patal Lok not Naraka if we see deep. Naraka punish humans by some YAMDOOTH whuch are are not evil they are like police those who beat the criminals from saying lies. The Bad being resides in Patal lok the deepest. Yama story of creation is not similar the devil/demon in abrahamic. He was not fallen, God itself send him to punish adharmi humans(Sinners) there is no concept of fallen like in hinduism the ultimate strong dark force is Kali Purush who made humans more evil then Asuras.
Kama is also a demi god,
Rati is also a demi goddess,
Agni is also a demi god.
