The steel number nerds love to bash 420hc but for most users (who won't ever come close to doing the damage seen in this video) it is a very serviceable steel and super easy to keep sharp. Yes you can buy a Chinese D2 knife for the same price, but does that knife come with a warranty like Kershaw? You do bust the tip and it will only cost you $10 plus shipping to get a whole new blade installed by Kershaw. And Kershaw provides decent wages and benefits for its workers which at least for me feels better than supporting no name Chinese manufacturers.

I think properly done 420hc would even surprise the steel nerds if they didnt know it was cheap lol

I like the Kershaw Cqc-6k in D2 For $47 on Blade HQ. I beat on it all last summer doing construction, and carpentry and it held up great!

Love the honesty in your vids. I know your friend isn't a knife guy but at least he showed what a knife really is, a tool. A functional everyday item and not a weapon. I hate ceramic rods. All I manage to do is break them and dull my knives completely

Love my 1776 tanto, just wish it wasn't assisted... Currently in the process of trying out a mod that uses magnets instead of the torsion bar to lock it.

Was not surprised that the steel held up. 420 HC is tough for a stainless steel. Example Gerber Strongarm in 420HC.

That`s quite impressive how well the Link kept up. I had mixed experiences with Kershaw knives so far (had a Dividend and an Atmos that both had lock slip), but I think I might have to pick one of these up.

I had the M390 Link, but gave it to a friend. I kind of miss it. Very good knife. I'm normally not a big assisted opening guy, but I didn't mind it on the Link, because the blade shape and way it performed outweighed that factor. I'd buy it again were it not for the fact that I already have way to damn many knives in my collection, lol.

Can't imagine why that poor knife was so dull...LOL. I think this is a great review for a folder that people actually would use working everyday, instead of a $300 safe queen we all just fondle. Also, it amazes me that some people don't understand the entire point of the abuse is to test the knife...as if you don't know the proper tools to use for your job. However, many times a knife is the proper tool for these jobs.

All that cringey stuff is EXACTLY why I have 3 Kershaw Filter. Retail @ walmart for about 15 bucks. I make all sorts of crap, build all sorts of stuff, own about 40 knives, and my favorite is that damn 15 dollar pos from Kershaw.
    Wierd.
I think the relationship is much like your grandaddy's truck you inherited, kinda simple and not too great, but you can drive it through some rough stuff without worrying about losing value.

ThePreppersBunkerOutdoors My Kershaw comment with the hulkster reference. I meant it in a fun manner, and came back to add a short, fun Randy Savage/Hulk Hogan clip and a comment that except for Hulks lack of hair, you remind me of him. Anyway, the comment was gone so I figured you didn’t like it. BTW, that’s a really nice bike you bought and a really really good deal. I’d like to see how it performs for you over time. Motocheez has a channel and records his rides. He tries out different Chinese import on/off road bikes. I like watching his ride footage.
