- A short film I worked on for the final year of animaton school.
Edit:
Wow! this video has exploded far more than I could have ever imagined! I was originally just using this account to cross-link to my portfolio website
I see a lot of excitement for the character designs and story, and that credit belongs to my old teammates who came up with most of the worldbuilding and early concepts:
Christopher Woods - Did a lot of the early concept art, story, character design and animation, and background lineart.

Doryan Beauvillard - Did a lot of the early concept art and story, and the character design and animations of the robot and crows.

I want to sincerely thank everyone who has liked and left a positive comment, your kindness has been overwhelming.
I do a lot of experimental stuff in my other videos. Come check out my channel if you are interested :)

This project came together with a mixture of photoshop, procreate (what I used for the backgrounds), tvpaint11 for animation, Adobe Animate for the special effects, and Premier Pro for the editing.

Hey everybody, I’m one of the artists that worked on this project.
I just wanted to thank you all so much for your kind words and support, it is really overwhelming.
We finished this movie 2 years ago and never expected it to be appreciated by so many! So thank you it really made all the hard work the team put in worthwhile.
I think I speak for all of us when I say that we beed more of this art style and creativity. Q
😊
the plant in the cave looked like a legit angiosperm so how was this the last seed
also I know this is for TH-cam but last scene ( 🌌 🚀) could have been little better
all in all this is very good and also how were those crows alive if there was no vegetation
...and now y'all need to work with a solid indie studio to make this into a game.
It's dope. How many people does it take to make a piece like this?
A HUGE thanks to everyone for the appreciation you're all giving us !
As one of the artists, your comments are amazing, with the niciest and funniest things.
As Chris said in his, it IS really overwhelming and unexpected.
Stay safe and watch more animated stuff ❤
...and now y'all need to work with a solid indie studio to make this into a game.
Does something like that actually exist? A solid indie game studio? Most of what I've heard of in that genre was somebody coming up with a great (sounding) idea, a crowd funding campaign, and then... Nothing. Do you really think it can actually be done?

Wube comes instantly to mind. You can read their 'Factorio Friday Facts' and be amazed with how downright _virtuous_ their dev cycle has been.
...and then there is ConcernedApe of Stardew Valley fame.
...and Denke, who did Autonauts.
...and Smartly Dressed Games, who did Unturned.
There are hundreds, if not *_thousands_* of solid, ethical devs quietly turning out top-quality passion projects.
Robo Eastwood pulling a Wall-E and Indiana Jones simultaneously 😂 the pterocrows were the best part to me, movement was great. If I were to critique anything, it would just be to add a little more frames to the scenes were the robot is expressive.
EDIT: Wanted to say that the run at the end is incredible! It looks so good!
I thought the same. "Hey, that's kinda like wall-e"
This reminds me of Wall-E however this is just even more badass and epic while bearing a sweet darker tone
2:57 The purple stuff splashing onto the scene here is just so good
Thanks, or should I say, merci beaucoup ❤
This is absolutely stunning! The cutscenes and the fluid animation is so beautifully done and I love the characters, the monsters are just surviving nothing anything evil which adds to the world! The way that robot sacrifices himself for his little plant buddy was sad to see but I think the ending was a bittersweet experience! 10/10 I love this short
Remember everybody: There Is No Planet B.
Esatto..è Madreterra è solo lei..
A robot with organic based prosthetic left arm, is something that i never think of
Also beautiful animation👏👏👏
I think Stanislaw Lem had something similar
An Orgcyb
I really like how he acts mostly human, but some of the movements are kind of off and very robotic. Very cool touch that I haven’t seen from a robotic character before!
3:03 Which purple pterosaur are you? Stuck, dead, angry, or silly root eater?
The roots do look appetizing
The little silly root eater for sure 😂
Root eater 100%
Can I just take a moment to appreciate how *AMAZING* the environments are? The first one feels like a post-apocalyptic and dystopian blend between Tatooine (From Star Wars) and Wall-E's destroyed city, tied together with a very Western-esque motive. Same goes for character design too honestly, the robot looks super badass and extremely expressive considering it's just a single eye, the titular Last Seed is super cute and dorky and those alien pterodactyl looking beasts are a genuine menace. The wordless storytelling too, this 5 minutes of dialogueless animation told a more compelling story and illustrated the bond between these two characters better than most animated shows are able to do in their ENTIRE runtime. I almost teared up at the ending and that final title drop gave me chills. Insanely good job on the art direction and basically everything else, I am beyond impressed by what indie animators on TH-cam are cappable of doing. May you have a long, prosperous and thriving career in the animation industry, you're for sure SUPER underrated.
Thank you so much for the kind words! This means a lot :)
From the very first second I was instantly engaged, and couldn't skip once, which is a rare thing.
Very well done! 👍👏
This deserves millions of views and recognition. Such an amazing film! Reminded me of the movie Wall-E
the expressiveness you all imbued into the characters in such a short time is incredible! i teared up when the robot looked at the little seed to send it off; it’s a very well-made film
Thats gonna be your winner video get ready 🙏
LETS GOO I PREDICTED IT
Wow wow wow
So many talented people are on this app and I'm grateful everytime youtube recommends them to me :3
This is incredible
my first thought was “is that airy hfjone” 😭😭
ok but actually the animation is DELECTABLE
You stole my thoughts >:(
glad to read im not the only one who thought this lmao
SAME
I love robots and this is adorable! I wish to see more of these characters! too bad this short doesn't have much recognition 😢
DAMMIT THE ROBOT DIED but least the lil seedling is safe :]
Jokes aside this is super super suuuuper good I would love to see more of this universe or more films in general 👍
Goddam vegan monsters, had to try eating the plant.
Cmon man, spoiler
@@dragenfire68this is late but my bad bro
I love it when situations, even tiny fleeting micro situations, maybe especially the tiny ones, are just pushed to their most ridiculous extremes. E.G. the Seed immediately jumping onto the Robot's face. XD I love that this animation is full of such moments--the most rapidly unexpected developments! It makes this entire thing charming as all heck. And it was so moving! 9u9 This was entirely delightful. Well done and congratulations! ^_^
That's really sweet and somehow also innocently gory
This animation had a gripping story, and a wonderful ending! The contrast between the robot, the seed, and the monsters was captivating!
The little seed is so cute!
I loved this one! The bot's humor and set and setting...
The design and animation for the little seed buddy really made this for me, especially his expressive face and overall design!
I didn't want this to end, loved every second of it, absolutely brilliant.
This is the peak of indie animation. great work!
I love the transitions and frames. very smooth. Great work :3
This is really great. I love seeing people get themselves and their friends rolling with independent animations
Wow, this was beautiful! I'd love to see more!
I realy love the animation and story. Probably one of the best short film y ever seen
Heroes are not created. Heroes create their own spirits. And they are legendary. ❤
This is amazing!! Felt lost like a tv show! A great piece of art you’ve created my friend ❤
This is so good!! Gives me Walle meets Iron giant meets Final Space vibes. Love it 👏
Such a cool cartoon! You can say a lot without words.
It was the best animation ever. I am fascinated by your art
:0 wow, that was amazing :3
A few minutes and you ended loving that robot, that’s art
As prophetic as it is a visual delight. Many thanks.
More PLEASE!!!! Thanks for all your work!
that's so well drawn!!
Great Job ! I really feel for the robot ! Beautiful ending
The robot died but saves the little seed. Good story. Thanks.
Congratulations to everyone who put this together 🎉
Most underrated short film ever
I like your Profile Picture I am a fan of Electric Light Orchestra.
This is AWESOME!!! Excellent storytelling and emotion. LOVE THIS!! More, More, More!! PLEASE!
that's too short i bet we want more
Poignant film, excellent design and directions, in fact excellent all round. Thank you to all concerned for sharing your work. Well done indeed. Inspirational film for me, I am an aspiring scriptwriter.
One of the most beautiful animations I have ever seen. Thank you. ❤
This is wonderful, your vision really shows through ❤
In love, Congratulations to the entire team for this great job!
Great short film, nicely done!
i love the design of the robot!
It took the end commercial to break me out of the spell.
3:27 I teared up.
I don't know how this doesn't have more views
Really beautiful! Love the last little scene at the end 😃
This is so amazing I'd love to learn more about the world you've built
Maybe one day it will happen 🤷♂️
Nice one. I felt reminded of a borot saving the last barkling from the dying world and it fled to Edegard, with its two moons, Var and Sul. Like in the last images. It is inspiring for me to continue my work as I imagine that I influences your work.
Thanks!
the art and music style reminds me of Samurai Jack. I love it.
I won't lie, I really wanna see more of this. Learn more about the story/setting. Hope you guys still do this sort of thing, even if it's not this specific story!
This is really impressive. Keep animating!
This is excellently done. Good job
This looks great. Crazy animation.
This was simply, Beautiful.
This was beautiful. I hope you continue to make beautiful art and that your channel grows I’m subscribed now😊
the sound design is stunning.
I'm going to boost this. A mere 2000 views is a crime! :)
The character design and art style reminded me of the album art from Brace Yourself for the Mediocre and The Rise and Fall of Five Iron Frenzy, and I loved every moment of it.
Well, it looks and sounds absolutely great.
A familiar theme in the YT shorts I've watched but well done and a snappy pace. 👍
This is amazingly done!
Really neat! I like the creature design and sound design.
Awww thats so sad! ...yet beautiful
Absolutely beautiful
I loved it it was so good. I thought it was longer because of how into I was
This should be a full movie.
Buzz Lightyear...RIP.
Why couldn't this robot just wait?
It looks like it's powered by the sun, because it doesn't appear to have any charging ports. This will keep it running until the parts wear out.
And it looks like these birds are more likely to be prey than predators (judging by the location of their eyes).
So most likely, if the robot didn't go straight to the ship, but just waited until all those strange birds starved to death, since that seed is the only source of vegetation, it would have been quite able to get it safely to the ark.
This should be adapted into a feature film
Beautiful, made me feel things
Absolutely brilliant
Very nice. Something I can share with my grandchildren.
From a war torn world, to a beacon of nightmares, of what will evolve into peace... This short rivals the mask be what I judge. Nothing may rival pirates of the caibbean in all the time I live.
This is short and a little sad, but dang, it seems like every moment is packed full of meaning.
@_MadFox interesting observations from someone who is obviously so full of original ideas that he has zero content on his channel.😂
Absolutely stunning!!
youtube kept recommended this to me.
Nice job by youtube then 💪🏻
Oh my goodness this is amazing
Very nice. I'll show it to my daughter :)
Loved this!!!
IMO its interesting how life was the only thing that the monsters wanted to kill, sorta making the robot feel ... out?
Beautiful.
"My batterie is low and it's getting dark." -last message sent to earth by a Mars rover
a simple concept, sacrifice, Overall really well made! the only part that could be criticized would be that it was a little short, The bond between the robot and the seed was not as strong as i expected but nonetheless A lovely animation!
First decent thing I've seen on TH-cam this Month! But then it is only the 29th.
This is pretty excellent.
Beautiful
