    That 1in3 twist is insane. Matt this video is something I hope to see more of. Having manufacturers come on the range and not only show their goodies they explain the mechanics behind them. It's one thing to sell a gun it's another to know what you're selling.

    • @amorton94
      @amorton94 2 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      It's really insane when the bullet explodes in the can from the RPMs and destroys the can. Super cool. Hopefully he does manufacturers that are actually cool and innovative in the future, unlike Q.

      At what point are you burning the rifling out of the barrel? I’d rather have a bullet dump energy with expansion than high rate of spin no?

    • @bunnykiller
      @bunnykiller 2 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      I didnt even think a 1 in 1 was possible and they are doing 1 in 3 which is still nearly impossible, there must be a graduated twist on it... wonders if it torques ( twist on barrel axis) as the bullet is on its way... my 460mag does it... imagine the rpm the bullet is spinning at, got to be in the 100,000+ range easy... just did some mafs at 1200fps muzzle vel in a 12" barrel with a 1 in 3 twist is 4 turns in barrel for 1/1000 secs of barrel time so 4X1000 = 4000 X 60= 240,000 rpm... amazing the bullet doesnt spin apart...

    That was a good test to prove how quiet that thing actually is!
    A mic will try to tone down loud sounds, then bring the audio back up after. You hear it a lot with full-auto fire, where for about 3 seconds the mic sounds semi muted. but that was a conversation while shooting. it didn't tone it down at all!

    This is some pretty cool load. Really cool to see what you can do with spare .308 Winchester or 7.62 NATO brass.
    It was inevitable that those popular cartridges like 223 Remington/556 NATO and 308 Winchester/762 NATO were wildcatted. There is also another round that does the same what 6.5 Creedmoor has done: the .20 Practical. Its a 223 Remington/556 NATO necked down to take a .204 bullet. It has the same sort of performance as the .204 Ruger. So its a really good varmint round. Shoots flat to about 300 meter, so its point of aim until that distance. There is nothing in the world that shoots flatter.
    Greetings,
    Jeff

      @@rytime700 problem is there are so very very very few new, cutting edge products out there.
      The firearms industry has largely hit a dead end. There is precious little innovation/development occurring at this point. Damn near everything has already been done. At least when it comes to current technology. That technology being gunpowder charges propelling projectiles from brass/steel/aluminum/bi-metal cases.
      Regardless, I agree with you. This is an interesting direction for this channel to take. I dig it. Q has their own podcast for anyone wanting deeper dives into this stuff. It's fantastic regardless of how much the internet hates Kevin Brittingham/Q .
      Matt's interests in things are so superficial at this point, he might as well make a solid effort to shift the focus and content of this incredibly successful, but kind of stagnant channel to something else.
      The man with so much money and so many guns doesn't even have enough knowledge about America's platform (AR15) to know the rifling twist rates. Instead it gets passed off as if he was talking about the .308 AR10 platform instead of the AR15 platform.
      That's ok, but it definitely highlights the fact that his interests are more superficial a broad than some people might expect. Certainly surprises me.
      Then again, I don't have 1/100th of the things going on in my life Matt does. I've got intellectual processing power to waste on dumb shit.

    As someone who has hunted buffalo in Australia (when we lived in Weipa Cape York, QLD), you must have a lot of confidence in both the projectile and your aim, especially if using sub-sonic. I have seen buffalo shrug off sks rounds (7.62×39mm) and even .303 Lee Enfield. Considering most people can't get or even use semi-auto rifles anymore, you really only get experienced hunters, even then most will not use sub-sonic. This must be a good round/rifle combination.

    First off, AWESOME video! That seems like quite the gun! So, as soon as Kevin said "eventually someone has to go out there and kill stuff with it.."
    1% of people said "oh that's terrible!"
    9% thought "Matt, run!"
    90% said "Yes, go on..."

    I just saw Scott play around with 8.6 and it looks really cool, versatile on these soft targets. Please up the ante and let's see how the physics play out against harder targets.

    • @robertcornett9972

      Exactly. I don't know if this was developed for hunting, self defense or target shooting 🤷. There are smaller rounds that get the job done in most categories and larger rounds with way more range, accuracy and damage 🤷 where is the niche, I'm honestly curious? Army is going with the 6.8 out of a SIG instead of the bullpup, design which is a mistake but the round is lethal. I guess it's just an entry to get buyers and be different, because this round won't be adopted for any military use.

    This video is just like my childhood...🤩...1970's, my mom (a single mother) was at work, 6-10 neighbor kids over at my house shooting cans, fruit, bucket, milk jugs, etc... My uncle lived right next door and would call my mom at work saying, "Julie's got all the guns out again shooting up a storm and there are about 10 kids with her!" She'd tell him to go over and stop me but, he was too afraid. I was kind of brat! A brat with guns and ammo...😜... She'd try to hide the guns and ammo from me but, I'd always find them. One time, she tried to out smart me by putting everything out on the back of our property in an old camper. But, I knew they were in there so, I slipped the louvered panes of glass out of one of the windows and climbed in. There were 30 guns laying there on the bed, ammo stacked all over. It was like treasure hunting. 😏😎 Of course I had all my friends with me. So, I unlocked the door and handed everything out to them and we shot up the field all afternoon. 🤭🤫😝 Great times! I get excited and itchy to shoot watching you play. I am so overjoyed to find your channel!! 🥳

    Awesome video! You should get a decibel meter to see how loud some of your different calibers and silencers are. They are fairly inexpensive and its hard for us to really appreciate how quite sub sonic rounds like this are. Keep making cool videos!

  • @Aidan303
    @Aidan303 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    The extra spin isn't just extra stability. Normally when you talk about the energy of a projectile it is just its forward velocity squared times its mass. This projectile is spinning so fast that it carries even more kinetic energy due to that spin & will therefore deliver more energy on target without having to be heavier or moving any faster.

    I built a honey badger clone with a 10.5 inche barrel (it's a pistol) and no suppressor. I'm happy with the performance of both sub and super sonic from it. I get 3 inch groups at 50 yards. Also own a 16.5 inch upper that does 4 or 5 inch groups at 200 yards. I love 300 blackout.
    If I can afford it, I'll build a 8.6.

      What kind of drop do the supersonic rounds have at 200 yards via 16.5" roughy?

  • @Guadalupeaencinas
    @Guadalupeaencinas 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Since it's designed for something like a 12 inch barrel with subs, it would be cool if you guys offer a 14.9 or whatever length would be necessary to pin and weld a cheerybomb and accomplish 16inch. Ppl often cross state lines to hunt, and not having to deal with moving an SBR would be nice.

    • @Guadalupeaencinas
      @Guadalupeaencinas 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mykehaha8207 I agree. It's a pain the ass. In this case though, it wouldn't be a burden to lengthen it to that 14.9ish length, because that would be better for supers, which is maybe what most ppl would use for hunting anyway and still an inch+ shorter than the shortest 308 and 6.5 fix barrel. I think it would be kind of perfect.

      Just file the Form every year, listing your dates of travel as Jan 1 through Dec 31 and all the states where SBR's are legal.
      Yes, It's BS having to do it.
      But not that big of a hoop to jump through to avoid the pin and weld hassle.

Your collection is mind-blowing, ridiculous. I'm slowly building up my stock. Once I fill my one safe, I'll buy another and fill it too. Any gun over $2000 goes in the safe. Just like my gold. I want to build a display self for the rest of them.
