Ibanez is killllllling it over the past couple of years. Probably getting one of these, the 7 string version, although I really wish they had gone with a reverse headstock.

Yeah, reversed headstocks are the best. I Like the ESP/LTD's M II's Reverse Heads. I love how they look.

Agree the best ibanez I own for playability is a gio rg absolute basic but what a fast smooth finger board compared to my pricier rg's and s models.
Twissted Riffs They need to bring back the Roadstar, Xiphos, and the Destroyer, those guitars were amazing.

Those pickups just sound terrific. It even made the clean stuff you were toying with sound maniacal. Definitely a players guitar there.
I wasn't an Ibanez fan myself until I picked up an Axion Iron label. I purchased the same model in the brown antique stained finish and it's become a favorite in my small collection.

Yo. That guitar has "that" metal tone. Like, literally THAT tone.
Since I've tried the Bare Knuckles pickups...all other pickups brands sounds mono to my hears now...
I feel the same but surely love the Mark Holcomb as well
I will never understand why some companys put so much effort in look..quality..hardware...specs etc etc....but than give it just a random plastik nut :D Come on Ibanez (and others)..a quality nut isn´t that expensive but a huge improvement!
Because their target audience doesn't care what kind of nut it has, they would look at the woods, the finish, and most importantly these shiny BKP pickups
Most companies have been pretty good with their plastic nuts anyways
PRS Mark Holcomb signature - amazing in every aspect except the nut which is terrible
saves them money in production. it's really easy to replace a nut so you can do it yourself
They should team up with Graphtech Tusq nuts. I've replaced a couple of nuts on Squier Strats and noticed a great improvement.
Richard Binder yeah Mark Holcomb himself recommends switching out the stock for a graphtec nut, he does it on all his SE’s.

I've 'built' about 9 sets of pickups on Bareknuckles website. Can never pull the trigger because of the price, but man, they are beautiful and evidently sound excellent.
This guitar is a beaut. My first guitar is an Ibanez RG, and this one is much nicer. Great review!
They are great but I dont think they are any better than normally priced pickups. Difference is you can order custom colours without waiting months to get them.
I love my bkp juggernauts, I can't go back to another pickup.
I am a big fan of Ibanez Artist series semi hollows,great bang for the buck. Nice honest demo of a guitar that doesn't usually interest you,good job man ! Cheers !

I have absolutely loved every Ibanez Japanese made prestige I’ve ever held. The fit finish and playability are top notch. The Indonesian made ones are hit or miss though. I do love the pickups though.
I got an indo, best $400 i ever spent. My daily driver.

Ibanez is my fav brand and rite now my most fav guitar ever is the Ibanez AZ. Definitely recommend everyone to check it out.
PSA: There's a guitar virtually identical to this one, but with a much better stained ash top, the RGAIX6U. I personally prefer that finish to this one. You might be able to get that one for cheaper since it's the outgoing model. I had the plastic nut replaced with a graph tec one, and I can't say whether it was better without it or not since I did it before I played it, but I didn't want one cheap part on such a spec'd out instrument.
I'd been looking at this guitar for a bit, gotta say the review definitely helped clarify a couple of things for me. Went and played one, and good god it's a beast. Now on order and the hardest part is here- waiting for it to arrive

Ibanez is my favorite brand period. They just make solid guitars for super cheap and the only thing you really ever need to change is tuners to hipshot (which I do on all my guitars even acoustics) but seriously... they are just good guitars period at all the price ranges.
This back will follow me in my dreams. That dark brown, natural wood grain... I want a guitar that's all just that. Sadly, almost nobody does natural, clean guitars
I got one and I love it!!! the area near the Pickups is way cleaner at my guitar so I guess that's a gamble.

Man, when that song started, I was like "shit, that is a huge sound". I did not even finish the video yet, I had to write this message. I used to hate Ibanez and similar guitars, but like a year ago RG470 came to my life and changed it completely. A year later, Im here, selling my LPs, keeping just bare minimum to have some diversity in my gear.
oh and forgot to mention, I usually skip the demo song after the specs. Not this time.

Pointy headed guitars have been around since the early 1980's. That's pretty near 20 years ago. I think we can call such shapes traditional by now.

Yoo hunter just a quick reminder since you showed some interest in the Ormsby GTX line, in the ormsby group there was an announcement that the GTX Prototypes will be fixed up (Aka the bevels added) and sold at a lower price, just thought id give you a heads up incase youre interested.
I'm not a fan of the typical thin body/neck, flat fretboard, double whammy Ibanez myself, but I have to say they seem to know what their customers want and work hard to make their guitars stand out. My preferred Japanese brand ESP however has been super stagnant in recent years, like they just rotate finishes each year and call it good.
I just ordered the non iron label version and will be picking it up soon! I'm so friggen excited, I havent been playing for a while so I'm so happy to get back into it. Now I just gotta get a decent modeling amp so I can have all kinds of effects without buying a shit ton of pedals.

I just feel like it's a bit much for an Indonesian built Ibanez. I'm still interested in getting one though. Throw a graphtech nut and replace the bridge with a hipshot and you're probably looking at prestige quality.

That’s a rad guitar. Especially because of the purple paint job and also the woods it’s made from like Panga Panga for the neck and Nyato for the body which I’ve never heard of. I showed my mom a picture of it and she said that purple color would have made it perfect for Prince. LOL.

It’s interesting you did mention this guitar was a little on the heavy side because I own exactly the same one and it actually is EXTREMELY light (around 2Kg!)
Great review as always. I bought an RGA42 in Blue Lagoon Burst to try it out last year and really liked it. After some minor fret work and a swap of Dragonfire Vintage Buckers, it's one of my favorite "cheap" guitars to play. The top on the cheaper version looks almost as nice as the Axion for around $350. Those Bare Knuckles in your demo guitar look and sound great. My Dragonfires are black open bobbin, but get the job done for a fraction of the price. Keep the great reviews/demos coming Hunter. I am not an Ibanez guy and actually sold an RGA72 last year... but this thing looks cool.
All the love for the Ibbys, that guitar is just stunning.
I have an RGA42FM (standard model, looks very similar but blue) and it’s way cheaper but it’s one of the best six strings I’ve ever played. I fell in love when I played that at motor city guitar in Waterford MI. If I loved that one I’m more than considering making the upgrade for it’s sexier, better spec’d little brother

I'm a Lespaul,SG guy,but I like my Charvels too ,now a friend let me try his JEM ,now I'm not big on bolt on guitars much but I really love the JEM,it's a breeze to play,then one day I got my hands on a RGIT,basically a prestige RG but neck thru,it had the Gibraltar 2 bridge 16"fretboard radius wizard 3 U profile neck5 piece walnut Wenge ,it came with their Quantum pickups unfortunately,but playing wise I'm on awe,and the price with case 799.00,RGIT 421W it has a jotoba fretboard ,if you have a chance ,you might want to check one out,,sorry for the long message

I definitely wouldn't call my self an Ibanez defender (though I was one of the comments explaining the Ibanez naming in that video).
As far as I know the wizards are all ruffly the same shape. The different names has to do with how the neck is built. For example how many pieces is it made of and maybe what wood is used.
I just like to know the gear as well as possible.

Roughly yes but I own a few different ones and they do feel very different even though they're still in the same ballpark.
This neck shape is great, not overly thin or flat like some other Ibbys
I have multiple Ibanez guitars and I love them. The Genesis and Prestige models are always perfect. However I recently got an RGDIR6M and for being an Iron Label I was disappointed with the fretwork (lists $800). All the other aspects are amazing and I can fix fret sprout myself but the fact that I have to is bothersome. That being said it won't keep me from more, I just like the way they play and that ranges from my RGs to my AS simi. Looking to pickup an AZ Martin Miller this year. My point, I love the review, honest and you point out the good and the bad, exactly what I would do. Thus if Ibanez reads this, send more. I think there are a lot of your fans who love Agufish!
I looked really hard at this one. It seemed expensive for a guitar made in Indonesia and comes without a case. Ended up buying a Japanese made prestige with a case for the same money.

It’s priced high cause of the neck n the $300 pickups.

Dude. That opening was TIGHT. This guitar may not have the specs you like in your head, but your hands and ear might have a different conclusion. I think it's the best sound you've created. Something to think about...👍✌

It's between this and a Kramer SM-1.
The only thing pulling me towards this Ibanez is those pickups, since the SM-1 has the Seymour Duncan JB/ cool rails which I was told were no where near as good as these Bareknuckles.

My mommy taught me if you can say anything nice don't say anything at all, but I didn't listen to mommy very well so let's point out the obvious - the specs of the guitar reek of Keisel is making cooler guitars than we are, so let's steal their niche. Pickups sound amazing though, so there is that!
I love the specs of this guitar but i am looking also on RG652AHMFX Prestige, but specs on this RGA are just better at least for me....
