The RGA71AL-IAF,doesn´t have a coil tap,it´s a coil *split* . I know,even the Ibanez website calls it tap and I´m sounding pedantic,but these are 2 completely different things. You don´t "tap" a humbucker into singlecoil mode,you *split* it and use only one of the 2 coils that made up the humbucker. When you tap a pickup,you just get the signal from a specific part of the pickup and this works also with singlecoils.

The hollow/airy sound you can get out of a good neck position pickup is great for some more proggy sounding things (I actually use a 1966 Vox Bulldog V241 for some of my leadwork with my crappy band--we suck, but my guitar sounds good!)

I know they have the ability have both the voicing switch, and a coil tap but I have no idea why Ibanez didn't do that. The lack of a tone knob in general is probably my only real complaint about this guitar 😭😭

I own an RGA6IX Iron Label, and I really miss the dots on the fretboard. But the pickups are clean and powerful just like in this model. I love them! This video makes me wanna pickup one of these new Axion models on 7-string
The bodywood is quite disappointing for a person that's quite rough with his instruments. Nyatoh is a "soft" hardwood. After some googling, it's about as hard as mahagony but softer than ash. If you find mahogany guitars "dentable", then this is probably similar.
It's so refreshing to watch a gear review video without the corny intros and prentitious "TH-camr" BS that is spread like plague across 90% of TH-cam review videos. Love the genuineness, goofiness and the extremely bad (terrific) dad jokes. Keep doing what you're doing and don't change. \m/

What you see is the texture of the wood. The lightconditions were not perfect, so it is hard to recognize. But the quality of the guitars was actually pretty good. :)
Rga is 25.5 inch scale so what do u think about the string tension.. coz i was more interested in bareknuckles than fishman.. but donno how do u compare them

Beginner Question, are fanned frets hard to get used to? Looking to pick up the 71ALMS but I'm a bit skeptical about the fanned frets.
I don't feel a difference playing a fan fret guitar. I think you would get used to it in a hurry.
