  • At the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA), students undergo rigorous basic training, including field exercises in Jacks Valley, to build physical and mental resilience. Successful graduates earn a bachelor's degree and become second lieutenants in the Air Force. Admission is highly competitive, with most costs covered by the Air Force, and cadets commit to military service after graduation.

If I had the desire to go to college and the smarts to have gotten into USAFA I would've loved to be able to say I graduated from there on a CV but it was enlisted USAF life for me, it remains the best thing I ever did w/my life. The USAFA isn't easy academically and people say "it's a good place to be from but not a good place to be at" It's a hard 4 year slog to get through.

Thanks for sharing this video! I hate seeing the sly remarks in the comments people serving are a Team and it talks all players to perform when the need arrives. So, don't degrade each other you all are trained to do your part and fight side by side for the United States.

As a former USAFA appointee who spent some time at the USAFA base, I believe no more than half of the ROTC and OTS-produced 2nd lieutenants would make it through the Academy's program. I believe that ROTC and OTS are like watered-down alcohol compared to USAFA. Please experience something before you criticize it.

It's so entertaining to watch an Air Force individual try to behave in a manner which is mean and tough.😂

Why do we still have military academies? ROTC and OCS produce many more lieutenants for far less money. And a second lieutenant is a second lieutenant, no matter what the source of commission.

Really good question! One day I got a reply on this question saying that academies have unique environment which is capable of creating colonels and generals unlike OTS and ROTC :)

    • @Arthur-Morgan6522

Not to diminish from ROTC, but that's like comparing community college to Ivy League. The people that the academies produce are general material, whereas ROTC is closer to a captain

@Arthur-Morgan6522 except that the education in the military academies is SO good that former cadets are doing their required service time and getting out. Very few are now making a career out of the military, instead choosing the private sector. Current generals may come from the military academies, but there will be less grads serving long-term to take those posts in the future.

Could you imagine that the amount of Air Force veterans and kids that just graduated from bootcamp, see your comment and how ignorant you appear, you would be in trouble.
Shut your mouth and keep your opinion to yourself to respect the men and women who have gave up their life and time while you sit on your ass and type your crappy distasteful comments.

The Air Force is like the backbone of the military. what they lack in battle readiness they gain technical ability and experience. i think some people forget that the Air Force handles multi-million dollar machines. smh

That’s how the military works, bozo. We need all branches working together to have an effective military.
I joined to fly a weapons system that protects our Soldiers and Marines on the ground. Others in the Air Force make that mission possible.
