What a gem! It reminds me of my 'no-name' 1920's vintage ukulele with the same bright voice that is feather light. Love the finish and the wide fingerboard that allows sausage fingers guys, like me, the ability to play with finesse.
This is why people play the soprano! It’s jangly, but not one dimensional and tinny like a lot of sopranos. I love the look of the classic Hawaiian ukuleles like this. You can’t beat that price. I enjoy watching you love on it.
That is a beautifully elegant ukulele, (I love the design on the headstock and sound hole) sounds great, and the price is excellent. Enjoy your new soprano. 👍
What a beautiful looking and sounding soprano ukulele, and what a good price. Great to see the enjoyment that it gives you. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Very desirable little instrument. I love traditional recreations too. That's a beauty in every sense. Lovely tone. I'd like one of these too. Great review.
While it's not always about the money, I'm stunned this much ukulele was only 395 😮 That inlay! The tidy woodworking! Everything else! Thought for sure it would be tipping 1000. I happened on a 1918 style 2 Martin soprano (for free). It was my first ukulele and the one I learned on. This DJ Morgan sound reminds me a lot of it, although I am a little envious of your wider fretboard, especially at the nut. Love your reviews 😊
Can't get over the price tbh. 😯 Sopranos are definitely my first love and this one just blows my socks off. Perfection is this! I will be (very unsubtly) showing this to my brood, which should fend off the annual inquisitorial question: "What you like for Christmas dad?" THIS my loves... THIS! Great review, as usual Baz and one I will wear the bins out on, watching often. Thanks mate, stay safe! 👍
I really like the looks of this one. I like the head stock and the runners look nice on it. The price is good as well. I am partial to sopranos and like the sound of this ukulele. Overall a real nice soprano! Thanks for another great review…. DOC
Wow. Only 395 quid. I expected to hear twice as much. Glad you found your perfect soprano ! I am more of a concert player. Still looking for mine 🙂. Great review !
@@bonniedavidson936 He's always been a very low volume builder - think he does enough to enjoy it without it taking over his life (he is retired now so don't blame him!)
Yet another great and informative review. Barry get ready for it to happen all over again " it's because of you the price has gone up" ha ha ha take care mate. Danny
'He should build more'. I support this comment. Those mini pineapples are high on my 'must have' list. This one was beautiful too, though. Great review as ever!
Nearly passed out when you mentioned the price; I secured a Ken Timms earlier this year for just the wrong side of 600 quid. Could've been a head rush, or plain old FOMO, but I had to have one. You got another fine bargain there sir, my hat is doffed to you. Enjoy.
Very few of your reviews cause my mouth to water as this one did. I, like you, am a fan of soprano ukuleles which arguably are the only joints truly worthy of the name. Sure, I enjoy all shapes and sizes, but . . . you know. Given your standing in the ukulele community, Baz, I hope this review (and others) bring new attention, regard and respect to the original iterations of the "jumping flea." Cheers!
Looking to get my first uke today I’ve seen so many of your reviews and I’m so lost on which to get 😭😭 looking to spend under 150$ more interested in sopranos , any suggestions ??
I do get asked this sort of question a lot, but actually have a policy of not giving recommendations. Not me trying to be difficult, it’s just that it’s really subjective and different for everyone - we all hear and play differently, but also people have their own preferences on looks, scales, features, decoration etc. What I can advise is that you look at the full review list - www.gotaukulele.com/p/ukulele-reviews.html and look at the scores. Anything 8 out of 10 or above gets a recommendation from me one way or the other. Higher the score the better. BUT - higher is better only in MY opinion - you may find differently! Hope that helps B
Really nice ukulele, and a great price for a luthier build. Are you familiar with Aaron Keim, of Beansprout Ukuleles, and his project of building Kingdom Era replica ukes? Very interesting stuff.
Baz Maz....have you changed your tune? No dot markers? DJ Morgan makes very good ukuleles but they are "SMALL BATCH"....(exclusive) At £395....I'd buy one but how long is the waiting list to acquire one? Does it beat my 1950's/1960's Gold label Kamaka koa Hawaii original soprano?
I haven't because I know this is desigend to be a 1920's mimic - original Hawaiian ukes tended not to have markers. Not sure on waiting list or even if he takes commissions - ping him and email - he's a very approachable chap!
@@GotAUkuleleBaz Maz....did you do the "tap test" to see what note the sound box is tuned to with your Peterson tuner? All the the exotic wood ukuleles should come with a health warning. This instrument had an effect on the makers health to enable the uke player his moment of "Nirvana".
Phwoar! That sounds as good as many at twice the price. We’re blessed in the UK with several extremely good luthiers, aren’t we?
Indeed we are!
Vintage look, great build, amazing tone, killer price. I think you have a keeper. Great review. Enjoy that uke.
Thanks Joe!

That's quite the price for something built like that. Cool
Couldn't agree more
310g? That's not a ukulele, that's a small marshmallow!
I had to shut the window before recording - it nearly blew away!
Nice Uke. Nicer T shirt. Hell of a band, think what Ms Lenker could do with a uke.......
