Why Change this Mind which is Not Yours?

- Vedānta has provided us with a deep analysis of mind at the subconscious and unconscious levels (vāsanās and samskāras) long before modern psychology. Understand that your compulsive thinking comes from the deeper levels of your mind. Unless your mind is causing psychological pain or imbalance, why would you like to change this mind which is not yours?
The only thing to do, if any doing is involved, is to disidentify, to distantiate yourself from the fluctuating contents of mind, explore the 'I-thought' and come to the discovery of what you really are.
This is the right 'doing' that will lead the practitioner to a state of non-doing where he/she will subside as a personal entity.
