We had 2 mudslides and 10 foot flood waters. my heart goes out to NC amd TN but us here in southwestern virginia have been absolutely devastated and no one is saying anything. we need help too.

I live in the East Tennessee and Southwest Va area and its bad. We are not used to hurricanes in the Appalachian mountain areas. This has devastated our small towns and communities. I live 5 minutes north of the Va/Tn state line in Southwest Va and our areas have been hammered by downed trees and flooding. We have no water, and thousands in our small communities are still without power days later. Small towns in east Tennessee like Unicoi, Elizabethton, Erwin, Chuckey, and Greeneville have been completely shut off and are only accessible by helicopter. Interstates and bridges have been washed away and it's total devastation. This is the worst thing I have ever witnessed in this area in my 50 plus years.

I'm in Asheville. All phone service and internet access was cut before the storm got here. So, we had no weather texts to let people know how severe it got so quickly. All we could do was watch things float by :(
Jesus. How awful for those employees at Impact Plastics. I have a friend who lives just outside of Asheville. She works for an electric co-op. They anticipated at least the day before that this would be a catastrophic flood event. It had already been raining heavily for a day and half before Helene arrived on Friday. Heavy rains were forecast days in advance for that area from Helene. There’s a lot of cynicism about forecasting and there is too much hype on some channels but this was predicted by reputable sources. And I understand a company’s desire to get a day’s work in but you have to pay attention to the weather.

I grew up in East Tennessee. I live in Western NC, now. It's horrible 😢. I've given $ and volunteered. This storm is unprecedented. We don't have massive floods in the mountains. Well, we just did. Franklin Graham's Samaritan's Purse is already there. That's where I gave $ to and volunteered with. Choppers have been flying from here to Boone and Asheville, delivering supplies. Please give $$ to help. We weren't prepared for this and the dams overflowing and collapsing. We need your prayers, too! I just got power on today but MANY have no power and/or no homes, clothing, possessions, etc. But, we're Americans and Mountain Strong! We WILL bounce back but we need our fellow Americans help at this time.❤

By personally visiting the disaster zone and donating $25 million from his own pocket, he's demonstrated his commitment to helping those in need during this difficult time. Meanwhile, it’s disappointing that Biden has not yet considered visiting the affected areas, as he seems more focused on providing aid to Ukraine rather than addressing the immediate needs of Americans at home.
Foreign countries have to be asked to provide help. They can offer and many have but doesn't mean it's accepted. Many foreign countries have helped with your wild fires etc. It's just not news worthy enough for these TV companies. Poland and Hungary have just been thru catastrophic flooding. I'm in Asheville. All phone service and internet access was cut before the storm got here. So, we had no weather texts to let people know how severe it got so quickly. All we could do was watch things float by :(

Jesus. How awful for those employees at Impact Plastics. I have a friend who lives just outside of Asheville. She works for an electric co-op. They anticipated at least the day before that this would be a catastrophic flood event. It had already been raining heavily for a day and half before Helene arrived on Friday. Heavy rains were forecast days in advance for that area from Helene. There’s a lot of cynicism about forecasting and there is too much hype on some channels but this was predicted by reputable sources. And I understand a company’s desire to get a day’s work in but you have to pay attention to the weather.
Because of decades of these storms not causing this type of flooding.
Nothing compares to unity. God bless all the people of the United States.

52 years ago in June, NE Pennsylvania was hit by hurricane Agnes. Flooded the entire Valley. that area is still not back 100%.

We had a pop up tent camper. My dad made us get in the car while he stayed in the camper holding it up through Agnes that night. He saved it. I am just so sad.

This storm is a heart breaker.
People are helping around the clock. It takes time to clear roads. First responders and national guard mobilize to help. They might have families that are dealing with it themselves. That’s why people are told to wait before returning to their homes or businesses.

Franklin Graham's Samaritan's Purse is already there. That's where I gave $ to and volunteered with. Choppers have been flying from here to Boone and Asheville, delivering supplies. Please give $$ to help. We weren't prepared for this and the dams overflowing and collapsing. We need your prayers, too! I just got power on today but MANY have no power and/or no homes, clothing, possessions, etc. But, we're Americans and Mountain Strong! By personally visiting the disaster zone and donating $25 million from his own pocket, he's demonstrated his commitment to helping those in need during this difficult time. Meanwhile, it’s disappointing that Biden has not yet considered visiting the affected areas, as he seems more focused on providing aid to Ukraine rather than addressing the immediate needs of Americans at home.
