I used the St Ives fresh skin exfoliant for years, as a teen until my late 30s. No problems whatsoever and it worked beautifully. And I'd use it again.
    There. I said it.

same. I've been doing it for 10+ years with no problems. Guessing most people who complain have extremely sensitive skin lol.

Hi Rob. I'm all about physical exfoliation for my body, but my face can't handle it. Thanks for another wonderful upload. 🥰👍

Rob you tried Madara!!! I'm so happy to hear this, I mentioned this brand to you during one of the livestreams a while ago, I would really love a review of the brand as they seem really nice 😁😁😁

hey Rob, I loved the reminder of gentle scrubbing. To most folks 'scrub' can be associated with plenty of physical pressure. I still use my hand knitted 100% cotton facecloths (flannel to you). I needed the reminder of being gentle. Thank you, sending love ~ Paula

I’ve never found a chemical exfoliant that works for me. They’re either too gentle that I don’t notice any result or too harsh and dry out my skin and make it flake and peel. Unless I use a physical scrub I don’t feel like I’ve had proper exfoliation. I loved the facetheory clarifying cleanser but it’s too harsh for me. It dries my skin out too much and makes it flake and their glycolic face scrub has zero scrub to it at all IMO with the teeny tiny jojoba beads. The UpCircle coffee face scrub is my HG. Loads of nourishing oils and I feel like the coffee grounds are abrasive enough but not too harsh or sharp if you use it right. Makes my skin baby soft. Unless I use physical exfoliating the dead skin just builds up on my skin and clogs it. Drives me nuts when so many skincare influencers and enthusiasts are like SCRUBS ARE BAD!!! So thank you so much for this video lol what works for some doesn’t work for others!
You can pry my physical exfoliating coffee scrub from my cold dead hands! 😂

I used to use one years ago and thought stopping was best because I was using retinols etc.
I'm looking to use once again. My skin looked much more radiant!

Rob is not afraid to go there, bringing the "unpopular" but necessary opinions! I remember way back in high school when I stopped using St. Ives and started using Neutrogena Pore Refining Exfoliating Cleanser/Scrub that had some AHA in it. I didn't even know what AHA meant back then, I thought it was the type of physical exfoliating beads. 😅 Looking back, it was probably unknowingly my very first "holy grail" product, but the glycolic acid was what gave me the positive results, not the physical exfoliants in it.
It's so interesting and humbling to think back on our early skincare days and see how far we've come. I'm all about chemical exfoliants now, and I don't really see myself going back to physical.

WOOOW Madara FINALLY someone is mentioning this amazing brand ! I'm so happy, I've been addicted to their products for few years now. Please review some more of this brand. Please try out more, they started doing factory sales. They really deserve a good review at last. Their SOS line is truly stunning. Their recent jelly hyaluronic serum OMG the best experience on your face ever. Better than you know what :) No kidding ! And of course I mean........chocolate :)

Thank you! I haven’t used a scrub for so long and I do miss it. I’ve been watching TH-cam skin care videos for over a year now and I’d course was horrified about how this causes hyperpigmentation which I am constantly fighting. I think I will give it another go:)

I use an exfoliating scub about every two weeks or so. My new favorite is a 1 min mask/scrub from Free Agent. Flash Forward thermal enzymatic exfoliating treatment. It makes my face feels good i want to use it everyday. But I know better.

I’m sorry, but I must set the record straight about the PC unscrub. It is so basic, not worth the $, and is the type of “scrub” that barely has any beads/texture. I much prefer an even consistency of tiny little granules but all over vs. like eight medium size granules in a dollop to spread over the face.I’m so surprised this product was even mentioned, let alone a favorite.

🤫...it's been ages since I've used ANY scrubs.....the last time,I can remember, that I used some kind of excessive rubbing ( exfoliating) on my face was a KONJAC sponge... very gentle... but that's some time ago....sometimes I will get a free sample including some kind of scrub...I end up using it on my feet, knees or elbows 🙂🙂🙂...happy Wednesday everyone 😀!!!

Using physical exfoliators is my biggest skin care regret. It's the reason I have two atopic scars on a face that is not acne prone at all.
    Here is my crap list.
    1. Alba botanica detox scrub
    2. Dirty works pore fect face scrub - This one led to severe breakouts/inflammation and I had to take oral antibiotics to clear them up. It ultimately left atopic scars.
Generally, my skin is not acne prone at all and I never had breakouts even in my teen years. I really regret using physical exfoliators. Nothing I do now can make atopic scars go away.

Sorry to hear you got scarring from physical exfoliators. That really sucks. If you have the option, I can recommend to visit a derm or a skin therapist. After years of walking around with scars I made the decision to go to a skin therapist and am currently getting microneedling treatments. Finally my acne scars are slowly getting less visible.

So pleased that you did a video of this. I used Liz Earle for years but decided to switch for more eco brands in non-plastic containers. Curiously I discovered two physical scrubs I now love but feel it must used very very gently. One is Upcircle which is made from repurposed coffee grains and smells divine! I love using it as a wake up in the morning. The other is from a smaller company called Awake Organics based here in the UK. Their scrub is made with algae and quartz crystals and is a very bright green. I use it no more than once a week. The crystals are very very fine. Sounds a bit scary but would love to know what you think.

Hi Rob I used the liz Earle cleanser for many years and loved it, but when I developed rosacea I couldn't use it any more (due to the essential oils etc). Instead I occasionally use the Your good skin hot cloth cleanser alternative from Boots, which is fragrance free (it is also CF). I have to be cautious with muslin cloths, but wiped gently with the muslin is a nice light physical exfoliant. The cleanser has a similar buttery texture and used without the muslin cloth, but with a microfibre cloth instead removes makeup pretty well as a standard cleanser. It's often on offer, so it doesn't break the bank either. That's it for me as far as my face, but I do use scrubs on the body and scalp. i have very very dry skin/scalp and eczema. I don't scrub active patches of eczema obviously, but the dry skin build up left behind from a patch/flare can benefit from a physical exfoliant used gently. My body skin is also sensitive, so I have to be cautious with chemical exfoliants re irritation. I do like the Ammeliorate for the body as it contains lactic acid and is available fragrance free, but it's quite expensive to use regularly. I even add a little CASTOR sugar (a fine grit) to a creamy body wash or hair conditioner for a gentle physical scrub - cheap, cheerful and the sugar melts fairly easily hydrating the skin and doesn't allow for too much exfoliation. I think we have a lot more control when using a physical exfoliant in some ways, as we're able to adjust the pressure used and we can be really specific where we use it. Best wishes.
