Oh yeah the soundtrack is so fucking good, especially after that *technically good but kinda uninspired* OST from SotO. I've spent dozens of hours just running around mindlessly fighting champions just because of the epic music.
I see the long story format as a plus, that we only get two acts now fulfil the three-act stanza. Act 1. We acclimate. In Act 2 we try to fight and find out that due to the appearance of Ura, we're unable to win, and in Act 3 we can have our moment of triumph by confronting the Titans on the mountain and beating the snot out of them. This will also be the raid so, there's a real narrative reason to urge people into the Convergences and then later the raids. After that, we have a real motive to find whoever made these new Titans and stop them if they're still around. This is a great narrative structure and much better than SotO. Due to the slower pace, I'm actually emotionally involved with the characters. If Stoic Alder ends up buying the farm I'll feel sad for real, as opposed to, "This is Maabon -> Maabon is now dead and you should feel sad." Perhaps I would feel more sad about Maabon if I knew more about him than "good Mursaat."
I couldn't agree more! Stoic Alder is definitely one of my favorite characters. It was just the first bit, especially the prologue, that felt a bit long to me.
@@Kyosika Yeah, there should definitely be a "skip" button for the second playthrough for, everything, since you're most likely doing it for achievements. That or there should be more checkpoints than just one.
At least you can use Renown Tokens in that Heart. You can save up Tokens slowly by doing the Skiff and Glider Adventures, they each reward you one per day.
I do the JPs on Lowland map whenever I log in to get some Mursaat Runestones, just by tagging some events on the way I usually have enough tokes for that map to last me weeks.
7:40 A little correction here. I think the extra jump height is based on timing and not your current endurance meter. Waiting to jump again when your warclaw's feet glow triggers the higher jumps, while jumping again too early that results in weaker jumps.
This comment might be a bit negative, but I really don't understand the praise for Janthir Wilds, especially since a lot of ytbers and streamers say it's much better than Soto. There is literally nothing of significant value to do in the expansion. 1st map is really nice, good events, fun jumping puzzles, looks good. On the other hand the second map feels unfinished, with a lot of events that are just the same event just worded differently coppied on different locations(moa meat& berries /board meat& cabage, etc) half of the event's that are there don't count towards the hearts, which give quite bad/useless rewards anyway for doing it daily. There is no meta for the 1st map and the meta for second is garbage. Unless you have a premade group that is already in the map like 10+ min before it starts you will not coplete the meta. Not because it's difficult, but because you need to have all the people there at the start or you will not have time to finish(unlike most other metas in the game where you can gather ppl during the meta and not fail due to time constrains), also the rewards are cheeks so barely anyone does it anyway. The 2nd map is literally empty since like 2nd week of the explansion which is just outrageous - yet nobody talks about it. If you are a casual like myself you might find a niche activities to do like sniffing the treasure with warclaw, do daily JPs, gather new matherials, but if you don't like gathering stuff there isn't much to do here, you might just go and do the regular metatrains and stuff like that, that is not related to the expansion at all.
Understandable! I think it's a fun experience. For me is that they created a new playstyle (spear) without Elite specializations and made it feel unique. Next to the optimizations to the Warclaw and the fun events, it's a great experience to me. And also, this is not all. They will add more content over the next few months!
Thank you for the video. I have not got the past two expansions and coming back i realize i left as relics were becoming a thing and I still have no idea about them or what else I have missed. This expans looks great. Do you know if there are any ranger pets besides the warclaw?
@@Kyosika agreed, the tyrian aliance would be a nice dialog sink if they kinnda rushed the formation due to the titan threat mid story not at the beginning when ppl only want to deep dive into the new zone.
As absolute Guild Wars lore nerds, my brother and me were absolutely stoked about the LA story instances. We literally spent hours in there, soaking in every optional dialogue, theorising and such. It helped that there was such a strong connection to GW1 from the get go, unlike SotO which left us kind of bored.
Hey, thanks for the video. A small offtopic feedback from an audio engineer: your voice track is quite boomy / having a lot of bass and therefore a bit exhausting to listen. Maybe it could be benifitial if you EQ that a bit out.
I don't understand why everyone thinks this "expansion" is so good. It is literally the smallest expansion we have, we only have one and a half maps, the second map feels like it's still unfinished with there only being 3 events copy and pasted 30 times. Zero meta events. They gave us a weapon that we already had. Zero creativity.
@@australienski6687 Keep on lying. It is a lie that it's the smallest expansion we have, since it delivers the same amount of stuff as SOTO. It's also an yearly expansion, we had to wait for years for previous expansions. It is a lie that we only got one and a half maps. Synthri, while not as good as Lowlands, still has more events than most other maps. The main issue is the top left corner, which only has one event. It also has some fantastic environmental storytelling, good ambience and fun collections. It is a lie that there are only 3 events copy pasted 30 times. There is only one event where you draw pictures of titan footprints. There is only one event where you help a kodan sing to the storm to calm it. There is only one event where you help an asura contact ghosts. It is a lie that they gave us a weapon we already had. We did not have those weapons, this is a very basic bitch lie. They are also some of the best designed weapons we have seen frankly, especially mesmer, thief and guardian. Not literally every map in the game needs a "meta event", and frankly I would much rather do the Bog Queen or the two Titans over any of the SOTO metas, which I think are mediocre to terrible. So yeah, lots of lies.
@@australienski6687 They should be adding events to the second map since the story will happen there, That's why it feels unfinished. Just wait couple of days. Homestead, Treasure hunting, Repeatable Renown hearts are all new things
RE: Homestead deco controls, it's interesting to hear that take. I see where you're coming from wanting the controls to be a bit smoother to use. Personally, I found them quite intuitive as someone who has spent a lot of time in blender, UE, and various other 3D modeling programs. But perhaps rather than Place, Edit, and Remove being swapped via profession hotkeys, they could be the default deco skill bar, swapping to the full skill bar based on context. Maybe arenanet will add configure customizations down the line? I would also like to see a toggle for snapping similar to the toggle for global/local orientation.
Thanks for your take! I see what you are coming from. I got used to it at first but it felt a bit clunky at the start. As you said, I think removing it from the profession skills already makes it a tad easier.

I meant to say that you can jump using your endurance. Not that the endurance determines your jump height. This is, as you said, based on timing!
Not exactly timing per se, it's actually based on downwards velocity = the faster you fall, the greater your jump height.

If you find it slow at the start, then I’ll probably die of boredom before getting to the good part 😂
Am I the only one involved in the story and the plot so far? I didn't find it boring for one second. It's story mode after all.
Don't get me wrong! I love the story, but I felt the prologue and the first bit of Act 1 a bit longwinded (Kodan at the table).
