I think it's a bit early to judge the expansion yet. Secrets of the Obscure started off fine too, but the other half of the expansion was very low effort. The maps are really nice, the spear is fun on some of the classes, but there's not much content there yet other than repeatable hearts.
Well I did make a disclaimer that I'm reviewing it unfinished. However, I will say, aside from still having side stories, I find myself wanting to be in those maps more than any others in general. And not just because they're new. The environment invites me in. SotO started off fine, true. But Janthir Wilds started off great, or if you're not generous like me, started off better than SotO...wouldn't you agree?

What I've always loved most about GW2 is the exploration, and if that's actually good again then I might be interested in picking this up sometime. But I'm just not seeing anything in the footage you've presented here that's "fresh" or exciting. Searching for random chests on a map is old news, and I wouldn't consider that exciting content. Well-placed chests where there's an actual handcrafted adventure to get to them is a whole lot more enjoyable. I get that this is your first video review and you're probably just happy to get more new content, but come on man...10/10 for this? Literally peak gaming right here--as good as any Bioshock or Half Life lol
Well here’s the thing I think you might not understand. The scale I’m using is for Guild Wars 2 only. I’m not comparing it to other games. It’s also not about getting new content, it’s about getting good content. The fact that I loved it IS the motivation to make this video, not just to make review. If you prefer the hand crafted route you’re better off with another game in general I think that’s not an MMO. But the point about the exploration is that the vibe and motivation to explore with the journeykin IS fresh and new and gets you exploring more than before. That’s what it did for me and other people I know 😊 I appreciate your comment brother!
I appreciate that you are a newer player (or at least you sound like you are new to Tyria). But your video is hard to follow for a vet like me… I recommend having a script and following it, also try not to make grandiose (all encompassing) claims without doing the research. I just have to say, “Silverwastes did it first”. They are known for their chest farm, ANet varied this theme on many different maps. I wanted to give you an “overall good rating”, but your lack of focus is exciting my OCD.
Oh I’m well aware of Silverwastes. I’m also a vet. Here’s the thing, my point about the whole chest discovery thing is that there’s a bigger element of exploration now than there was before. When running around Silverwastes, I never felt like I was exploring a big mysterious map, even for the first time. Also the fact you mentioned that it’s a ‘chest farm’ sounds to me like you’re not the type who wants to explore for chests anyway, perhaps you’re just after the loot. One of the BEST things about the new chests system is that you’re NOT running around in a massive conglomerate of people doing a ‘farm’, and you’re actually getting a chance to genuinely explore the map 😊 also no offense but I won’t apologize for my video style haha if you don’t like it that’s totally understandable. Everyone likes different things 😙

I can believe someone with conflux wouldn't know what a breakbar is, but aurora specifically requires a ton of time in open world to do. Plus, knowing what a breakbar is is irrelevant to the context of what I said. Op said he was probably new, I merely pointed out that he had aurora, which clearly indicates hes invested a lot of time in the game
