    Wow, what a bit of kit! I think I'd have to recalibrate my own notion of shooting with such a huge focal length available, my head only knows up to about 300mm!!

    Another great lens from olympus.. Brilliant lens except that it can't give that background blur that one gets from a bigger sensor. But there is no alternative.

    It is still a crop camera in every aspect. Love Olympus 4/3, but selling it as comparison to a Canon/Nikon 600-800mm not a straight convert.
    Canon does not market the Canon 7dII and Canon 600mm a 960mm lens to pros. People need to accept a lens for what it is, and the format for what it is.

    • @Jay19876
      @Jay19876 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      These comparisons are meant to explain the differences in angle of view. It just so happens that most people associate the mm of lens with angle of view between formats so it is easier to explain using "effective focal length" comparisons.

      You should get a real camera with PDAF not that crappy dfd joke lol

    • @danieldougan269
      @danieldougan269 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Makta972 DFD is actually quite usable for stills. It's only in video where it becomes distracting because you see the wobble.
      So, even though DFD is only available with Panasonic lenses, I would still have no trouble recommending this to someone with a Lumix body as long as they didn't plan to use it for video. I think it would go just fine on my G85, but it would go even better on my E-M1 II.

      Just saw the price of this lens, $7500.00USD! Seriously.....? No wonder Olympus is dying...Olympus was a great camera maker several decades back, I recall, my father's Pen F as a kid in the 70s. Played around with the OM1 and 2 back in the 80s. Olympus was on the shortlist when moving from Canon after 35 years to mirrorless, Fuji finally won out. I doubt the JIP will rescue the camera division, they will likely scrap it, that is their reputation after all.

    sigma and tamron 150-600 is $1300 ... this lens tough beautiful but $7500 is stupidity and will cause an ending to m4/3

  • @johnraymond6926

    Canon 400mm f5.6 lens for $600 used, versus Olympus 150-400mm for $7500? Used Canon 600mmm f4 II gently used same price as the Oly 150-400, where as the 600/4 can be put on a full-frame body of 60mp? Much better ISO on a full-frame-CROP down to what the Olympus is giving you, PLUS, you get a bokeh that the Zuiko cannot match. Just adding info for those taken in by this all. If you need compactness, this is great, you want pro Nature and wildlife? Overpriced IMHO

      @@evans66ph Yes, it is, however, while Canon is making rubbish cameras, they are still a viable camera maker that is in no immediate danger of going out of business. Olympus seems to be hastening their demise with this overpriced M43 camera and massively overpriced lens.
