Fish CANDY!! They can't resist these rigs! (Seafood Crisis Averted!)

- Ahoy legends, this week I troll around some fish snacks and the pelagic species just can't resist these new rigs! I do all this in an effort to avert a seafood crisis, where both my fridge and freeze are completely empty! Not ideal at all!
Luckily the mahi mahi, wahoo and snapper are on the bite and I manage to put together a delicious haul of fish to take home! All bar two snapper get caught using garfish or Ballyhoo and Jigs claim the rest! I hope you enjoy the video!

years.....years I've been watching you, and i've never heard you so frisky as you were in this episode. If i were a betting man i would have swore this type of banter would have come on a Shauno episode!!
There’s definitely a dry spell 😂
Your killing it mate! Keep up the awesome work Sammy, awesome content!
Cheers mate! Thanks for tuning in! 🍻🍻
Great going over the safety info Sammy, while its fantastic to have your EPIRB and PLB, it should be said that one or the other, or both if you have them, must be registered with AMSA to know who you are and what vessel the Rescue Coordination Centre are looking for. Awesome mix bag :)
No better sound than the scrambling winding of an overhead reel loaded with mono after a snapper has snatched it. Warms my heart
Hahah bloody oath! I can picture the exact sound you’re talking about as well. All float liners would know it 👌👌👌🍻🍻🍻
Great collaboration with Rodney mate you guys work great as a team!
Haha thanks mate! 💪💪
Awesome session mate - Love your work
Epic session mate, great content as per usual 🍻🍻 cheers
Nice video Sammy! That’s an unreal mixed bag, all delicious species too. 🤤 The snapper were on the chew!
Bloody oath Mate! Was stoked to see the snaps still firing 👌👌
Excellent session and great video. Thanks for the effort you put in mate
No dramas at all mate! Thanks for taking the time to watch it 🍻🍻
Nice 💯! Loving the double hook-up 🪝
Heck yeah... what an episode mate 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼 beers were flowing nicely whilst watching as usual. Enjoy the feed like we enjoyed the episode. Till next week mate, take care and get "sucked off" or not 😂😂😂
Another epic day! Awesome catch Sammy!
Lighter gear, tighter drag, tougher fight! Love the solo video, good jokes, nice narration. Thanks for sharing brother
Thanks very much! Appreciate the kind words 🍻🍻
We used to catch 100's of those gar at Wello using a 50 foot bait net and bread crumbs, you throw the bread crumbs on the water and it increases the surface tension of the water and clears the ripples up, you can then see the gar eating the crumbs and just walk a net around them. Used to take us about 30 minutes from the car park to 2 - 20 litre drums full of fresh gar.... Excellent bait.... Good trip Sam...!
That’s the bloody go mate! I’d love to have a reliable place to load up on Gar every now and again! They are such good bait!
With a couple of sad stories past few weeks on the east coast of Aus of solo anglers overboard and losing their lives, the PLB and PFD is a great reminder mate. Well done for sharing. Only additional thing I'd add is a kill switch lanyard
Giant ice bag is a grand idea! ❤️ love these videos! I hold my breath when you’re pulling in the big fish though. Didn’t realize I was doing that for a while. lol. From Texas, USA
Hahaha the excitement gets to you as well does it! Hahah 💪💪
What a day of fishing, haven't seen one like that in a while Sammy, yewww!
Great day Sammy wow🤙excellent catches 👏
Awesome session! Well done
Bring on the pelagics ! Great vid mate !
Another great episode! Thanks!
Thanks for watching 🍻🍻
Been away awhile for awhile always good to see back in action cheers mate.
Thanks for watching mate! Glad you came back 🍻🍻
Hello From USA. Informative, enjoyable, excellent filming techniques and commentary. Thank you.
Thanks for tuning in! 🍻🍻
Another top vid Sammy. Well done!
Thanks very much 🍻🍻🍻
I love wahoo. They fight great and eat even better. Used to catch them out of Venice Louisiana running out of South pass.
Good on ya , filling the freezer is epic!! Well done !
Thanks very much! No better food on the planet then freshly caught seafood 🤤🤤
you got to love it when sammy works blue.
Appreciate it mate! Enjoy the vid 🍻🍻
Awesome to see you back in the ocean chasing some big fish mate. Keep up the great work
Cheers mate, always good to get out on the deep blue after a bit of a break!! 🍻🍻
Great weather! love to see it
Certainly didn’t start out that nice 😂 glad I waited it out though!! 🍻🍻
Your phrasing this episode was beautiful 😂
🤣🤣🤣 sometime you just have to have a bit of fun with it!
Love your work👍
🙌🙌🙌
Sucked off!!! This is my new favorite term! 😂 way to go Sammy , great content
😂😂😂 thanks for watching mate 🍻🍻
Ya killing me with the slightly non P-G language! ☝️😂🥃🇺🇸
Keep on putting them in the boat! 👍🏻🥃🇺🇸
Hahah don’t know what you’re talking about mate. Was just describing fishing stuff 🤷♂️😉😂
Not at all jealous mate, no demersals for us over west at the moment, awesome video as usual 👌
On a side note, if you’ve got a dog and a dehydrator, they love dried fish skins, also love the tails too, my three go nuts for them 👍
Well there you go mate! That’s not a bad idea at all! I don’t have a dog, but a couple of mates do. I should do some up and see if they like them 👌👌
Hey Sammy. Not sure if you have room on back of boat but bunnings sell a small model of the wheelie bin .I cut top off and took wheels off and strapped to duckboard.A few holes in bottom for drainage and works a treat for bleeding and washing and no mess in boat.Cheers
Not a bad idea mate! I might have to look into something like that 👌👌
Heh Sammy, I was looking at your video, awesome lures you got there.
But I looked at your speed you were traveling at...we fush very similar to you guys here in South Africa but we travel much slower than you and the spread is from 25m down to 13m by going slower you can put a weight on for the bait to go lower into the water as they not always on the top..just a thought
hi mate great vid love watching them every week what are those jigs you were using for trolling thanks
HI Sammy,
Thanks for a great video. I always wonder about the conditions you go out in. Obviously we can see what the video can show, but I wonder if you could do a little run down of wind and wave conditions when you do your intro? Anyway, keep having' fun! H :)
Mate that is an absolute cracka! of an episode.
Thanks very much for watching mate! 👌👌
Cheers for the vid bud 😊
Thanks for watching!
top vid , thank you , cheers
Thanks very much for watching 🍻🍻
Awesome video as usual Sammy😊. How far off the bottom do you fish the katchi please mate
What a cracking trip Sam
Thanks mate! Awesome when a plan comes together like that!!
Great day, and nice vid.
Were they the gar I lovingly caught for you last winter?
Great days work sammy makes up for the bad days
After weeks, and I mean weeks of unfishable weather corresponding with my days off it was great to see someone catching something. My turn will come. Cheers to you (and catchy)
Cheers
Ohhhh that sucks! I’ve been looking at the weather this week and it’s not looking too good at all down here 😬😬 hopefully it comes good for you soon 💪💪💪
Sammy where did you get your foam strips for the inside off your gunnels?? Haven’t been able to find any in store last or online. Cheers mate
love it
Thanks for tuning in mate, you scored first 💪💪
You should get a MOB fob. Wireless kill switch… works perfect if you go over.
Are the rumours true? That Rodney is tired of you taking the credit for his Success and he is looking at doing his own TH-cam channel 😂😂
I'd subscribe to that!😂😂😂
I just want to catch like Rodney 😔
Hahah I don’t think my ego could handle Rodney over taking my subscriber count within 4 weeks of having his own channel 😂😂
Did u say those Gars are alive?
Did u say those Gars are alive?
Another great episode, I don't know how you manage to get out. Every time I look out the window, it's blowing a gale lol.
What was you trolling speed with those wog style heads.
Just gotta keep checking and look for the little gaps in the weather. It’s been bloody hard though!! Trolling about 6-8knots
Awesome video mate! Love the fishing and well done with those snappers! Have you thought of getting a Wireless Engine Cut-Off switch for when you are alone? Not sure they exist, but I recon they do. Like engine cut off switch that triggers when you lose Bluetooth connectivity or something like that?
In that way if you do fall in the water while the boat is in gear it would switch off? but it must be wireless.
Hey mate, I’m pretty sure they are available just not here in Australia for some reason 🤷♂️🤷♂️
8:04 Sammy you salty dog you, lol.
It's going to be one helluva summer down South. The yellow tail just rolled in this past week in their numbers so Pelagic season is well and truly under way.
Hey Sammy, when are you going to stock your tool baskets and cutting boards on line??😅
The old summer fishing in spring. 😂
The best time to do it 😉😂😂
Is that a new camera? The clarity is awesome!
Legend.
“Got sucked off on the other rod”
I think I’m going about my fishing all wrong! 😂
😏😏😏 hahahah
Sammi: Our Florida trick is to leave the school dolphin first one on line in the water. You will catch the entire school
G’day Steve, yeah we do that here, it doesn’t seem to work as well on the fads as they cop a fair bit of pressure from fisherman 👍👍
what are the skirts u used for the gar
I have been rigging ballyhoo for wahoo fishing all my life and I’m 70 years old and I’ve never seen that many hooks in one ball who in my life that’s why I asked the question how did you get that many oaks into that little fish
You were doing so well till the 4X! 😂
Hahah nothing wrong with a goldie!
Here in nz we measure to the v in the tail. So we would call those snapper 60cm ish lol good shit though. would be cool to do a fishing trip with Sammy 🤙 and tick off some other species.
I reckon we should adopt that system as well. Would cut out a lot of the variants in measuring! Thanks for watching 🙌🙌
Do you find you get more hookups trolling one direction on some days to others? Awesome vid mate, going to dust off some gear. 🤙🤙
Sometimes for sure mate, but other days they just throw all theory’s out the window 🤷♂️🤷♂️
Hey Sammy love the vids mate 👍 cracking session there , i was wondering, what is your best weather app to go by for offshore depicting weather patterns etc. Cheers mate keep them coming over the side 🍺
Hey mate! I use about 4 of them and just cross check between them to see what the average is. Windy, BOM, willy weather and Seabreeze are the main ones 👍
@@SammyHitzkeFishing thanks Sammy 😊 all the best and be always safe out there 🙏
Hey Sammy what gram is the catchy jig and do u have a soft plastic or something else on the bottom of it
Great video love to see the snapper and trolling around the fads 🎉🎉
Hey mate! That one was a 120gram and it has a little gulp trailer plastic on it. They are designed specifically for that catchy jig 👌
Sammy, where you get those skirts from?
It’s always a good feeling getting quality fish onboard. 😍😎👍 do you use berley? Or do you not bother with the water depth?
Thanks very much! Nah I don’t bother with the burley in the deeper water 👍👍
What are the first two lures with the fish called
Sammy can you kindly tell me the name of the overhead fishing rod that you spoke about that is snapper rod as you also use for trolling on your last outing. A very nice outing to catch a good feed of fish. Kind Regards John
Thanks for watching John! The rod is a Wilson RLFTX12 10-20kg 8ft. Made by wilson fishing 🍻🍻
Thx for the safety tips. Someone should invent a wireless disabler you can activate or even some proximity mechanism that kills the engine when it hits 30m.
There are a number of wireless mob kill switches available - that do exactly this - jump on google most the big safety brands have them :)
great catch, what’s the name of the lure you were using to catch the snappers?
That’s called a katchi katchi jig 👍
Now that's the way I want you to gaff any fish for now on, poke that bugger. Nice mate
Hahah yeah got sick of losing fish waiting for the perfect shot. Now it’s first shot, anywhere 👌😂
Time to get an endorsement or free supply for your brew
Much love bro
🍺 cheers from England
Thanks for watching!
what rig were you using to catch the snapper. just artificial and a egg sinker??
It’s called a Katchi Katchi Jig 👌👌
Rodney doing a nice job outfishing his boss; you’ll likely need to up his wages. Doesn’t say much, but effective at putting fishing on the deck. 👍
Hahah hopefully he doesn’t bring up a pay rise in his performance review! 😂
How can I order some of those jig heads.please let me know.thanks for the Great videos
i would 100% need a bigger freezer!!🍻
Hahah at the rate I go through fish, it’s full one week and empty the next! 🤤🤤
Don’t forget to file a float plan with someone also.
So when you go out is it best to get fresh bait out in the bay or will bought bait be fine
Fresh is always best! But not always practical. I always take some with me, if I can get some out there great, if not, I’ll use the frozen stuff I bought with me 👍👍
Thanks sammy im going to catch some snapper it's my first time trying for them out the boat
What speed were u towing those gar at? Love the video ❤
Around 10kph mate. I usually just judge it by how the Gar are swimming and adjust the speed to suit
I’m guessing a wahoo wouldn’t be your first pick for a suck of, no happy ending there lol😂
😂😂😂 definitely don’t need a trim that’s for sure!
🙏
Nice effort Sammy suck off with the full happy ending 👌🎣
how you have rigged that garrie at the start is excatly how we did when i was pro macky fishing up in princess charlotte bay
Well that’s good to know! I dare say you guys would have tried a few different methods in your time as well!!
❤❤❤top
Quite like the look of those wog heads. Where do I get those from?
They’ll be available on my website in a week or so mate 👌👌
The whole rig set up Sammy, with the singles?
nice bait
Thanks mate 🍻🍻
I went out last week end and got my first legal pearl perch it was 54cm
Gotta be happy with that 👌👌
@@SammyHitzkeFishing yeh sure was
Sammy. Have you looked at the Fell Marine wireless Man Overboard Switch?
I have seen them online but they aren’t available here in Australia yet unfortunately.
@@SammyHitzkeFishing Yes. I got mine from the US.
Come on viewers hit the subscribe button and take Sammy over 150K!!
Keren sekali 🎣🐟
When are you getting more jetted trolling heads back in stock?
After tomorrow’s video drops at 4pm mate 👍👍
How long ago was this filmed mate, epic fish 🙂
Last couple of weeks mate 👍🍻🍻
Hey Sammy what are the rigs you used to troll the garfish with?
They fall in the Wog head category. I’ll have them available through my website very shortly 👍👍
Awesome mate can't wait
what are those rigs your trolling? how many knots are you trolling with them?
These are a wog style trolling head. I’ll have them available through my website soon! 👌👌 trolling them about 6-8knots 👍
They look awesome. I’ll be cashing in for some 💯
G’day Legend,
FRUSTRATED….!!!!!
Again and again I see your baits disappearing after being hit.
You never answered me when I asked you , a while back , why aren’t you rigging your baits with the hooks “ showing proud “ ?
Thank you
Chris from Crete
G’day Chris,
I’m not sure I quite understand your frustration! If you look at the rigging on both the troll baits and the floating baits there is hook points exposed. Is that what you were referring too?
@@SammyHitzkeFishing Good morning,
Yes this is what I meant.
Having looked again , please accept my sincere apologies .
Chris.
As far as safety, why don’t you wear an engine kill switch clipped to yourself? Here in the states any vessel with a length under 26’ feet with an open layout has to have an engine cut off system. The skipper has to wear, be attached to the system anytime the boat is operating above docking maneuvering speed. Much safer than watching your boat motor away off into the distance.
I do where the cut off lanyard while traveling from spot to spot. When trolling however it’s not practical to wear one as you constantly have to move around the boat. 👍👍
Thanks very much!
@@SammyHitzkeFishing Thank you very mutch... have a nice day.... see you….
