In my opinion, the best part of working with this fire station is the awesome view you get to look at as your pulling out of the station or just going home at night. Great video BTW.
I'm from a small, volunteer dept where it's usually the responsibility of the passenger. The drivers job is to drive safely which is hard to do when you have a hand on the wheel, one on the siren, a foot on the Q and a foot on the gas.
LOVE IT!! I was born in West Plains and man how things have changed in 40 years lol. Next time I am down that way I hope to swing by and get some pictures of your rigs.
I enjoy watching your videos. In my opinion, they should be used as apparatus operator training videos. The operator featured in this clip and most of the others has some real skill. Great work brother!
In the US there is a system called Opticom that allows the emergency vehicle to control the traffic signals by turning the one green of the approaching emergency vehicle and the rest red. However it's up to the individual departments to decide if they want to install the system on the vehicle.
We are a combination department, paid on call (POC), part-time and full time (career). I am one of the Full-time firefighter/engineers. I pull a 24hr shift, drive the trucks, and work the stations. When I am inbetween shifts, I am on call 24-7 as a firefighter or driver if needed.
I mean obviously they can't force you to go through the signals if you think its unsafe for yourself - but they do ask that you try and at least attempt to make a path for them to see if they can get through - but in this video it didn't even look as if anyone even attempted anything to make this fire-truck driver's job any easier! I mean sitting here behind this PC and watching is just so frustratig - shouting at the screen to tell the driver to move over or something
He could, but 80% of the drivers here in the U.S. don't know what yielding to an emergency vehicle is. Around where I live I pulling over for them is pretty much a given, but after surfing TH-cam I see that plenty of people don't.
i have a question. whos job is it to turn on the siren and to change the tone of it? and for any firefighters out there is using the sirens the best part about responding to a call?
enzo marena personally i pass up the opportunity to use the siren, I’m frequently driving out second out piece (i work 2 miles from the hall, everyone else lives in town). My favourite part is challenging myself on how quickly, yet smoothly, i can get the truck on scene. Gentle turns and lane changes, smooth acceleration and slowing. There are some happy yuts who insist on going to town with the Q or electronic siren, but i have my right seater do what’s necessary to move traffic. Many times the lights do that for us (hense lights on POV’s). Hi-low-ing down an empty road is useless, but splitting stopped freeway traffic is a whole ‘nother story.
Couldn't he go through the traffic signals????? Here in the UK - most of the services request that you make every effort to let the emergency services through as safely as possible
I wish, but we only have a headset in the rescue (for the driver). We don't have crews either, just one man full time at each station. If someone is on the truck with us, they were at the station when the call went out.
David Whitley whomever is the person in that seat, generally becomes, and takes the duties of, the officer for that apparatus. Arriving on scene, they would be the OIC, until relieved by another firefighter or officer. Our trucks almost always roll with an officer on each truck (due to varied schedules) but if none is available, a black hat can fill in their place.
Combination of full-time engineers and paid on call firemen. The full-time pull 24hr shifts (one at each station), and the paid on call (P.O.C.) respond directly to the scene upon receiving the page.
On our department, it is the drivers (engineer) responsibility, because we are the only one in the truck. On most departments, it is the Captains responsibility.
I think that idiot in that pickup truck with the bed door opened, needs a ticket for not pulling over when he had the opportunity at the gas station entrance.
The guy driving thinks he is running everything. He needs to focus on driving and not tell the other guy he cant do anything. The officer seat position should be talking on the radio and doing the sirens. The driver needs to focus on driving.
Actually it was a structure fire. You gotta be blind if you don’t see that black smoke. Fully envolved from the interrior room and contents fully envolved

i happen to find your videos while looking for fire alarms. your videos are really nice.

i love how my son freaks out when seeing a engine

Not a single car to be seen but has that siren going before they even get off the apron! 🤣🤣😂😂
Someone forgot to do truck check😂 "whys my gear in the back?"

Best video for this catagory

@@jaysmith1408 I'm a Q happy kinda guy. I have one on my POV! Some of us are just a little annoying:)

@gguy182005 I visit Las Vegas often and the center divider curbs are rounded so it's very easy to cross over. But they really need it there.
Very good and nice highway action

@bfdengine2 Airhorn relay was out of service, we were waiting to get it into the city shop for repair.
Best engineer in the world! Hope thats an acting captain and if not demote him!
😂
Guess the only thing that sucked was the air horn was broken... Electronic ones suck.. .Regardless, nice driving.
@cosfire2 Thank you, I appreciate that.
the man in the other seat was not a officer. he was a reg. fire fighter

Well Done boys👍
do your crews not wear headsets while running with sirens?
Its very very nice video :)
that was a long ride. hope they werent the closest station.
They have a mastercom in the truck so it has an electronic and a mechanical siren.
If you live in West Plains, MO. come to the station and pick up an application. :)
We get order them that way, but they can be set up differently.

What kind off siren dose 4622 have
Dispatcher at the beginning sounds exactly like ours
is this a volunteer or paid dept?
Airhorn malfunction?
Yeah the officer said as they were heading to the first intersection there was horn malfunction
Got it
west plaines, what state?
the two vehicles in front should have rolled on through the light so you could get through but they wouldnt.
danny haley some states don’t allow emergency vehicles to force drivers through stoplights. Virginia doesn’t
@StandOnTruth Yep
That system costs way too much for a city the size of ours, would be nice though.
I think that idiot in that pickup truck with the bed door opened, needs a ticket for not pulling over when he had the opportunity at the gas station entrance.
nice
@MitchDJohn Most people are afraid to run red lights even though it legal because of the fire truck
Sounds like there is one, it's just broken

Carl H driver told him to stop the horn because he’s probably not allowed to force drivers through stoplights
Your passenger wasn't wearing is seatbelt the whole time he was responding. Traffic accidents kill firefighters who aren't seatbelted in.
ah, were just outside of st louis
Looks like a freightliner
when coming up on an intersection can't y'all safely go to the other lane?
+Luke Wilson Sure if there isn't a huge concrete curb in the way.
What code was this i wish it will say we got a code 4 or something like that
Bob Jones code 3
Missouri
Fire truck 4622 Fire alarm
code 3 v-con and q2b?
What emergency was that. A fire or a car accident
Idk
Nolan Kennedy they were responding to a activated fire drill
Actually it was a structure fire. You gotta be blind if you don’t see that black smoke. Fully envolved from the interrior room and contents fully envolved
Nolan Kennedy it says fire alarm
No real air horn on the truck?
Air horn Malfunction
Damn!, y'all ride your "Q" HARD!
someone likes to go hard on the Q siren dont they? haha
I love you
Code 3 Mastercom
Are you serious? You cant be serious? They have a Q on all there trucks and your saying they need a Q? Please tell me your not being serious
Where's the real air horn
I agree, the real air horn should have been used, not the one that they used
+Bradley Arseneau There was an air horn malfunction as said in the video "We are heading to the first intersection with a horn malfunction"
hi
shitty traffic yield
