Just for a moment, when the notification came up on my watch about this video, I thought it was about the Pocket 3, not the Action 3! I need stronger glasses. But Tamara, you are such a great salesperson - I actually looked up local pricing on this camera while I watched this excellent video, but given that I have the A1 and A2, I really must fight the A3 temptation!

Thanks so much for the video Tamara. Looking to upgrade my current Camera, As a current Go Pro user, I have a quick question. Does the DJI provide a looping mode when filming and if so what time duration option do you have with the DJI. Thanks in Advance.
No problem. And yeah, it has a loop mode. You can loop for 5 minutes, 20 minutes, 1 hour, or infinite.

Hi Tamara 😃 I'm still getting really great results with my little Action 2 Cube. I especially like the cube for quick an easy time-lapse setup and shoots in 4K. I wish DJI would make a new camera like the Action 2, but has 6K or 8K resolution.

Just to add.
I have to do a further testing, but as far as I've tested is that USB-C hub with two USB-c ports or any USB-A on it can simultaneously charge DJI Action 3 and also provide audio input! Which might be useful for many cases when shooting longer videos or when needed to connect for example an USB audio interface (mixer, USB mic etc.)

I'm currently trying to decided between the Action 3 & Pocket 2 for a month long hiking trip I'm leaving for in two weeks. If it wasn't for the potential focus issue I feel like it'd be a much easier choice. I'm not really looking to film myself but capture the scenery/trip itself. If the pocket 2 had some weather resistance and a removable battery it'd be a very easy choice.
I have both. For 2 weeks hiking though the action 3 is coming as I would hate to ruin a pocket 2 in wet weather or rough conditions.
Don't forget image stabilization quality!!!

Thanx for your posts. I ordered action 3 combo which includes one battery and I choose it as its offer price is over rs. 10000 less than adventure pack. Now I think one more battery is needed. Kindly suggest me a compatible battery (and charger) which can I buy separately. I am from India.
5:46 hero 11 comes with massive software issues and other issues related to the camera.

Anyways, is your footage from the OA3 straight out of the camera or did you some editing (eg sharpness) in post? I am struggling with mine (08/22). It seems really good, but yours is a little better, I guess. But not sure. 😅 Mine does not seem to have the focus issue, but the more and longer I watch the more I am struggling. 😅 Best regards
Hey 👋🏾 In terms of the footage, anything shot in Normal or HDR hasn’t been edited, it’s straight from the camera. Only D-Cinelike footage is edited. Do you have a link to some of your footage? I could have a look.

Great video. I have the Gopro 10, with Volta & media mod. The resulting videos are good.....when it works. Still so many bugs & issues that I'm getting so close to binning it. I want a camera that I cant trust and the GP10 isn't it. I am on the verge of buying the Action 3 because it 'just works'. The focus issue seems to have been fixed, and the Action 3 gets better with every update. Everyone goes on about how it's not as good as the GP11, but is'nt that newer hardware? For me losing a bit of quality is no biggie when I can have a camera with no problems. Great video and you have another sub.

Hi Tamara, Love your vids so much!.. just wanna ask if it is true that ND filters will RUIN the VIDEO FOOTAGE? i mean, i read in some articles/comments that ND filters will not work on any Camera without Gimbal? it would get distorted or something they said?...
Thank you ☺️ Yes, if you use ND filters you will most likely need to use a gimbal, because once your shutter speed drops below 1/100 the image stabilisation breaks down and the footage looks jittery.

There's not really any way of knowing until you get one. But I'd avoid secondhand ones and also maybe just get it directly from DJI as I'm sure they'd still send a replacement if there's an issue.

Thanks for the great follow-up. Trying to decide if I need to send mine back - Has anyone seen this issue - was shooting video on in 4K 30 but the camera chunked the video every 5 to 10 min without me hitting the stop button.
My long running (over 2 hours) timelapes were fine so could it have been the mode I was in?
No problem. With the issue you had, I know that it does split files up every 5 mins I think...
Jungling a camera for on-the-go podcasting and the hero 11 freezes or bugs out too much this seems to be the best option for me thanks for the awesome feedback and content I love the channel

I've not actually filmed in 4:3 so I couldn't say. Might give it a try though.

The HERO11 has an 8:7 aspect ratio which is ideal for that. Works great.

Very helpful video, how do you find out thr manufacturers date before buying? I've got a trip to Jamaica in under 3 weeks & hoping to buy one, would you buy direct from Dji website?
There's no way of knowing before you buy it. But it might be worth buying from DJI in case you have an issue. Though I'm pretty sure any that get sent out now are fine, that's what I've heard from people that have bought them more recently.

Hello Tamara, you make great content and I came to your channel mainly because of your video’s about the Osmo Action 3 that I just bought. I have a question about using ND filters for filming. I see in other video’s people mentioning the interference with the Rocksteady stabilization when using the video mode. I mainly want to use the Osmo Action 3 for filming but sometimes also make foto’s. Can the ND filters used for both video and photo? What are the best settings and what is your personal experience using nd filters for video? Any problems using the stabilization with ND filters? What filters do you recommend? @@TamaraGabrielUK, It certainly does👍👏 My conclusion is that a CPL filter could be useful for filming with Rocksteady on using the camera only or on a selfie stick because of the high shutter speeds Rocksteady needs for smooth filming. Otherwise a gimbal is needed to use nd filters / ndpl filters with lower shutter speeds. For good photos nd or ndpl filters are more usefull. Is my conclusion right? Do you use the Freewell filters a lot, more for photos or video? Are they worth the money in your opinion? Hope you will answer this final questions! Greetings 🇳🇱
The only time I’d use NDs for photography is if I wanted to do long exposures, otherwise I mainly use the NDs for video. And yes, the Freewell ones are very high quality.

Not sure. I’d imagine that the latest manufactured ones aren’t, but I don’t know
I just bought the Action 3 and it has the hardware focus issue despite being a 11/2022 build. Be aware it is very common. I took the risk and still got a defective unit. All close up focus is horrid.
I know you compared this to the Hero 11, but I'm stuck between choosing the Action 3 and the Hero 9. I've read that the Hero 9 is very buggy (not sure if that has been addressed with firmware updates) but at the moment it is £250 so cheaper than the Action 3 by about £70. Do you have any thoughts on this compared to the Hero 9?
Unfortunately, the HERO9 is one of the generations that I didn’t get so I couldn’t say, as I don’t have first-hand experience with it.

A lot of people, myself included, got units that had focusing issues. I got a couple of replacements before getting one that didn’t have the issue. From what I know now, if ordering from DJI it should be ok.
I ended up getting Hero11 this week. They finally offered it for $350

I don't think average person will focus on imagine quality because i think most of viewers probably use phone. On small screen hard to see many details and more important is You and how you will join all small parts of your video.

I would like to buy Action 3 Adventure Combo. Don't where to order it. Should I order it directly from DJI Store to MAYBE get camera without focus issue? It is sad that they did not implement Gyro. I would really like to use my gaming rig to Stabilize videos afterwards rather than using real time camera power for that. I have Hero 6 and it is just great to use Gyroflow afterwards and it also DeWarps the image if wanted. Here in Scandinavia A3 Adventure Combo is sold out from all the stores. I have no idea why? Did DJI stopped manufacturing those? They anyway sell those in their own Store. I was also thinking to order normal version maybe it is later branch than Adventure Combo and get the battery case separate but it costs then kinda 100€ more. Any thoughts?

@@TamaraGabrielUK I was thinking this too. But I also noticed that Action 3 is out of stock in many places and says coming June or July. Did they stopped manufacturing it and why? I'm also afraid of focus issue. Hero 11 has Gyro for my use. But I have heard so much about how it freezes and is too unreliable. And overheating and jamming in -10C. I have been thinking to buy these so long that they gonna release new cameras before I can decide.
For me, I really like GoPros, I haven’t really had a lot of issues which is why I still continue to use them, but I know many people experience problems. I guess weather and temperatures play a factor, so for the best reliability I think the Action 3 would be the better choice if you’re shooting in extreme weather conditions.
@@TamaraGabrielUK Thank you for your comments. Ok. Yea summer here is max 20-30 C mostly 10-20 C and winter mostly -10 - -20C. I have Hero 6 and I like it but it is old. But it can always record battery to zero without issues. It is my second the first one gone to Warranty. I don't know how much SD card plays role. My Pocket 2 can't use Kingston cards at all. I have A LOT of them and ONLY SanDisk SD cards work with Pocket 2. Pocket 2 stops recording after minutes without any error. All my Kingston cards work with Pocket 1. My Pocket 2 is also second camera first one gone to Warranty. Don't understand how all of these action cams have to many faulty products. From your videos for my eye Hero 11 looks better than OA3. Sharper. But Pocket 2 quality is just super good but battery and weather sealing.. I just want to camera that I can sit down indoor or outdoor to film kids play and leave it there. And it keeps recording until I stop it. I wanted action cam to be this because it may take some rain or punches. I so much waited Pocket 3 with changeable batteries. So been considering action cam because those are more durable. /mindflow.
You might be better off with a small mirrorless camera if you also want to film indoors, otherwise have you considered just using your phone?

I love DJI Action 3 but at the end I bought Gopro 11 .... you know why ? Because they have The Wireless remote control...its so convenient...I can control the Camera without touching it ❤ ... DJI please release The Wireless remote control for Action 3 ,4... and up please...a lot of customers and TH-camrs say NO to your Camera because of that 😢
Use the remote for the Action 2 or the phone app, best of luck with GoPro, dropped them a long time ago due to software issues..
Great share Tamara after 7mths of using the Action3. For me the video quality drop off vs the Hero 11 is about 15% to 20% but the quality of life and reliability of the Action 3 is like 300% more than the Hero 11 so if those stuff is important to you like front touchscreen and fast charging, then the Action 3 is a must buy in my opinion.

MY action 3 got water damaged, I sent it for warranty, after 1 month they provided a replacement, but the downside is the manufacture date is 10/11, hoping I will not encounter any focus issue.

And what happened under water, how was it damaged?

@@Muraschid Basically I used it in the falls/river, I'm not sure if it's the cold temperature, or the flow of the river is to strong, because it worked fine until it got low battery, then I charged it, the unit got so hot.

It's strange. Did the camera get flooded inside, lost it's waterproof? Did you have it in a waterproof case?
DJI action 3 is my choice. Sent my 11 back, it locked up and overheated to much.

Not sure about Osmo, but that studio matt looking shot looks just stunning. I don't want to sound rasist, but I it seams black people often seams easier to properly lit and colorgrade, at least in the studio. Am I wrong?

I think it comes down to exposing for the right IRE with any skin tone. But with dark skin, indoors with controlled lighting is definitely easier than outdoors, outdoors can be really challenging when trying not to get blown out highlights whilst not making the skin tone too dark, it’s hard to get that balance at times.

My last moto camping trip my GoPro hero 10 failed 5 times at critical moments. It's ongoing reliability issues have have convinced me to move to the dji. Thanks for your review it was very helpful. Great hair by the way 👍

I have 4 great working action cams, 0 gopro, 0 failed in critical moments. have oa1 best cam ever, now, oa3 is trying to take that crown.
Mic: boya k4 trs usb-c + mini jack headphone volume control + trs lavvelir for sound.
The minijack hvc is for hot mic control
I had a 7 and was so frustrated then I got an 8 and had nothing but the same issues then a 9 and that was the third strike. Never again.
