- A one night tent camp on a mountain in rain and snow storm with my dog Bruce. It was very cold, very grim and it took my a while to start enjoying myself. Suffered from horrible cramping because of the heavy load and long climb up there. The Hillerberg Staika tent was outstanding as expected. Hope you enjoy my suffering 😊 ❤️AB

Feel like I need to post this message to some comments stating I don’t feed Bruce enough or how dare I let him stay outside the tent: How much does Bruce weigh? What are his health issues? What did his vet say on his last visit? What diet is he on? How many natural coats does he have? What was he bred to do. Feel free to comment about Bruce but understand you don't know him at all. You see a tiny blip of his life on TH-cam.

Brucie ran to you as soon you screamed in pain.
When I was staying in an RV one winter in Colorado, my dog would stay outside during the day only. He had access to shelter, food and water. I had a crazy woman call animal control on me at least 3 times, each time they said it isn't my fault the dog prefers to lay in the snow (like Bruce does). The last time they told her if she called again she would be arrested because the dog was enjoying his life and was designed for that kind of weather. He had the double coat like Border Collies do.
Madness.
I think people forget that dogs can withstand all types of weather and their coat will grow and shed as necessary.
I had a chow with a triple undercoat. She loved the cold
She's like the idiots who brought the baby bison in their car in Yosemite because "they thought it looked cold". It's mother rejected it after the rangers got it back as fast as they could and the calf later died. People are morons about nature. Leave no trace and let it all be the most you can. The less you disturb it the more there is to enjoy.
That's such a "Karen" move. I used to have an amazing (short coat) Dalmatian that was the exact same way. She loves, loved snow. Thankfully my neighbors knew this and thought she was adorable...but nuts. I would leave her on my patio until she came back inside...i left the sliders open...nearly freezing myself. So I totally get where you are coming from.

....Bruce knows when its time to honker down, sleet and snow, what a great dog! So relaxing, sitting here in Raleigh, NC waiting for winter...which we don't get much of!

We got enough freezing cold and a hard snow here near Boone this year. That was enough for me. Cannot even fathom these conditions Tony and Bruce slept in.
I'm in NC also at fort Bragg with my daughter and this yr. "2022" I seen my first snow and it was so beautiful ! The thing was Ive gotten sick so I just stayed inside and watched my grandchildren play snow!

I doubt that anyone watching has the slightest idea how much weight you’re carrying to bring us these amazing and extremely entertaining videos. Thank you for all your hard work. As impressive as what your doing is, I really watch to see what Bruce is up to, lol
😂 I have accepted long ago that Bruce is the star. Yes these loadouts are insane. Most people wouldn't be able to lift the pack nevermind climb a mountain with it.

Another brilliant video Tony. Absolutely love the channel. It fascinates me that Bruce will either lay just outside the tent or even go for an explore but always come back to check on you. My 13 month old sprocker would be on a neighbouring mountain if I let her out of that tent 😂 in a controlled field she will come back to a whistle every time, but open space if there is a scent, gone like a missile 🙈 keep up the great content mate 👍

Great vid once again. Bruce reminds me so much of my own collie. He goes out in the garden here in the uk while we are watching tv and just lays down on the patio or lawn whether it rains or snows or is just cold. He loves it.

So glad to have found this channel. So many channels so heavily emphasize ultralight, but for new people who's gear is bulkier, or who carry for a dog, or help carry gear for their hiking partner it is nice to see how you gear up. Especially since you seem more comfort focused.
Would love to see how you pack for a different trips. I assume you have multiple bags like tents.
My youngest son and i just tried the coldest sleep out ever in a basic tent. We used a small Mr. Buddy with a small fan attacked to the lantern hook at the ceiling of the tent blowing down. We used two inflatable pads with -20f expedition goose down mummy bags. We cooked and had a raging fire for a few hours then slept with our gear in the bags. I'll just say we didn't see a single mosquito. The actual temp. hit -27f. Well check that off the bucket list, glad we were in the back yard. LOL! We had some good laughs and a great time.

My alaskan malamute was like brucie with the snow so I'm sure it was the perfect trip for him.
I actually enjoy watching u in tent long hours that keeps me relax and love what u doing in tent with cute dog! It doesn't feel bored me at all. Keep up doing that to makes u enjoy with dog at tent mountain thumb up:)

Would luv to camp im New Zealand. Beautiful mountains and scenery. Being in Northern Canada where the winter temperatures dips to -35c/-40c without the wind chill,you need a hot tent. I use the Russian Bear UP2 hot tent and stove with under padding. Quite comfortable in the tent +25c to +30c.I really don't know if your tent would survive the extreme bitter cold. Thanks for the share👊💥

In bad weather, I actually am doing what you are doing right now it this vid. I cook in the vestibule. I don't have a phone, only a Spot Gen 2, sometimes a Sat. phone if in the deep Outback of OZ, but mostly just the Spot. I have my dog, and a good book, plus a radio. I can handle that in bad weather, especially if it is socked in for a few days, but I am a Cycletourist, so riding in bad weather, I never do. Was glad to see you doing what I do here in Australia. It is basically the norm for me and why I enjoy it, is that it is just me and the dog, no family, no partner, love the freedom.
I do have family, just like to be on my own with the dog.
Sorry for your miseries.....but so enjoyed this video and was there vicariously all the way. I'm 80, won't be volunteering for
any 3 hour hikes UP a mountain, setting up camp in rain, sleet and snow. But you make it all seem fun and it is comforting
to know that you know what you're doing. Would love to hear more details of your chef training or is there a video where

OK, that looked absolutely miserable -- and I loved it, haha! I think that trip was a gift to us and Bruce, because you definitely suffered for it. Nope, I wouldn't want to be there in that weather. But it was great to see how you and your gear handled it, and handle it well you did. I'll bet finally getting home again felt so good!

This is my 3rd or 4th time leaving a comment on one of your videos. I’m a 46 yr old and I’ve been on dialysis now for going on 6 yrs for the second time. I was on dialysis before for 6yrs and was blessed enough to get a kidney transplant. It went bad after 6yrs but as I’m on dialysis again. I have found your videos very much enjoyable. I love that you take us with you and share your adventures. I loved getting out and camping being in nature and enjoying the world the way it was meant to be. Your videos help someone like myself that can’t physically get out there anymore. I just wanted to thank you for the effort you put in and making very enjoyable videos. Keep up the great work.
