You need to to do a fuel pump reset every time you do a fuel filter replacement this will give you better fuel economy and help save you money in future parts ie Injectors, and fuel cost's.

I Had the same problem! The Scanner said to check fuel inyectors, I did not! I Rather flush the engine with regular diesel fuel, took all the engine oil out and poored 1 gallon (4 liters and a half) of Diesel fuel into the engine, turned on for 120 seconds without revvin it up because of the turbo bearings, I drained out and left the oil panel drain bolt off for about an hour, after that I put it on, changed the oil filter for a new one and poored the regular engine oil for a D40 engine and Voila! I have about 6 months running my D40, so far 2 Oil changes, and it sounds like a kitten! Greetings mate!

My Navara has had this same rattle from brand new, I took it to Nissan who weren't interested and said, its okay...
I've now done nearly 100,000 kms and it's still there, I just live with it, thanks for the video , good to know.

My V70 D5 makes this noise, it’s really hard to track down! No smoke and still performs so I’m just putting up with it for now.

Had that noise in my vw passat 2.0L
Filled it up with premium diesel and its ok now again... Purring nicely

You know, I just bought Path R51 (2005) from first owner. I checked for timing chain and it does not have any noise, but I noticed "strange" noise over 2500 rpm. Bellow 2500 rpm the sound is OK and "smooth" but over that it is different.
Before buying the car, we went to Nissan service center (not in UK) and they said, that this sound is normal. But is it really? Guys bellow said that it has the same noise from the new one ... And there we also no error on computer diagnostic.
Can I send you video what it sound and could you advice me what to do?

Oh that's definitely it. I'm getting the exact same noise though only occasionally and almost always at highway speeds at around 2100rpm but never under load. It's often accompanied by the DFP light coming on and I wonder if those are related..
my xtrail 2.2dci clatters like that under load when cold, could that also be an injector ?

Hello, can this faulty injector knock damage the engine? I heard knocking around 2000rpm on my 1.7CTDi 74kw Honda engine. Before and after 2000-2200rpm they are quite. Thank you
Mine nissan navara 2008 has the same rattle noise but some times it works perfect and sometime i hear that noise sometimes i hear that knock while idling and sometimes not. I did service the car but does the same. Any suggestions please?
my 2005 nissan frontier with a 2.5 4 cylinder does the exact same thing. The only code it throws is faulty o2 censor or catalytic converter. How can i test my enjectors?
Hi, been following your channel for some time. Your video helped me with the timing chain installation.
I've had 4 reconditioned injectors on my Navara, but since then the engine has developed a diesel knock also known as pinking.
In park it's quiet, engage drive and the engines noisy, (diesel knock)
Would a fuel pump reset help.
mines having a similar sound / problem. i have disconnected each injector and engine tone changes on all of them. the car is shaking quite bad whilst idling also. any ideas

hi sorry to bother you. I have a 2012 Nissan navara.4x4 dci pickup. when I cold on startup. there is a knocking noise. then after the engine warms up the knocking noise goes. It's very slightly sluggish.. but at this time it's not a problem 98,000 miles. changed the oil. solely because of the engine knock at startup.10-40 engine oil. when lifting up the bonnet the knocking noise is from hydraulic tappet area. and advice please. dated 27/4/2022
Think I'm having this issue, but only when engine is cold... disappears when warmed up though, is this the same problem?
Mine has similar noise but goes away when engine hot, its worse on cold mornings is it still injector or perhaps tappet issue?
What do you mean timing chain upgrade? Just a replacement or an actual heavier duty timing chain?

Good day West yorkshire Tech. Im from Philippines and i have diagnose the same problem @ 2500 rpm fuel knock sounds will appear and the second is it has a excessive black smoke on the exhaust. What could be the posible cause of this. I already change the turbo due to seals are worn and clean the intercooler. Clean the egr and exhaust system. Can you please help to determine the posible cause of this?

What about a tapping noise on deceleration at about 2500? About 5 distinct taps nearly every time then stops

I have a problem, the injectors are very loud. I have found it to be quieter as it feeds warm fuel. If I take a 5-minute break, the fuel filter heats up and then runs quieter for a few minutes. The injectors are new. I also know that this is a common problem with these cars. So far, I have not found anyone who can solve this. Maybe you have a lot of experience and have had a similar situation? In summer, when the temperature is 20 - 35 degrees Celsius, the car works quietly. And below all the rattling. Scv at the stop 29-31 MPa. 2000 engine revolutions 48mpa. I have new injectors, the problem is the same

Quick question if I may?... You confirmed that the fault is an injector/s, but why is the ticking noise being created. What is happening within the engine for that tick to be heard.?

The reason is over fueling ie Diesel knock.

Hey, I have the same noise, saw this vid and got the injectors done. Have the Navara back a week now and still the noise persists. Especially under load ie. pulling a trailer. What might be some other possibilities for the noise? (Oil and Filter just changed too). Cheers.

I bought my second Navara, a 2016 d40 140 KW some time ago. The first one has done 260,000 km(128 KW) with no problems, although I know that there are a few problems here and there, although nothing major. Yet, the Navara is not as bad as you have stated. I am from Namibia and our off- road conditions are far worse than Europe's e.g. dust, extensive gravel roads, dunes etc Yet we obtain excellent mileage on our Nissans? Judged at the background of your experience, working on the brand, what would you think could be the reason for the negative experiences you have had with Nissan in general? I do respect your knowledge and expertise when it comes to these vehicles, but I can truly say that I have never - and this current Navara is my 6th Nissan Doublecab - experienced any of the problems you mentioned. Maybe this is a long shot, but could it be that drivers/owners over here are maybe more adept at driving under harsh conditions or that they take better care of their vehicles because they are fully aware of the demands they make on them? I would really like to hear your opinion as to what the reason for the vast difference in experience of these vehicles can be.
callie louw Totally agree with you. I have an 07 d40, have been servicing and maintaining it and still running strong.
I have a 2006 Navara yd25 auto for four years now here in south Africa, never gave me any problems, I'm wondering if the ones in UK have a design error.
Mine has a loud tap sound on one cylinder from 1000rpm to 1600 then it goes away. Only does this when it's cold and misses for a few minutes when you first start it. Do you think it could still be an injector? There are no faults in the ecu. Cheers any help appreciated

how do you check or test the injectors?
I have the same issue but instead of accelerating,its when im sitting on a 50km on 1500rpm or either way, its getting a ticking noise. But when i accelerate it disappears? Help..
(Turbo diesel) Mine also has tapping/ticking noise only upon load at around 2-2500 rpm but when it hits boost it goes away or when cruising at highway speed it's fine it's only around 50-80kph constant is when it's there, possible faulty injector also!!??

Same any results? Been told mine is a wheel bearing and a loose air filter housing but im not convnced even after diagnostic

the throttle valve on a diesel doesn't work like on petrol engines.
When you close the throttle on a petrol engine it creates vacuum to open the bov.
Diesels the throttle controls fuel not air
My d40 makes the same noise but only low rpm off boost. Once it comes on boost the noise goes away, any ideas ?
Same issue here bud. Once I drive for a few km's and get some heat into the engine it's fine. Did you end up fixing yours?

Think so, my one starts only with long cracking the engine and then vibrate real bad. I took the injector to service two days ago and still waiting for the news... Did you fix yours?
What is it when there a tappity noise on idle and low throttle but when hard throttle goes completely

@@michael0450 there was a leak in the diesel system at the filter. Once fixed the noise disappeared.
If you've replaced all 4 injectors to Genuine new straight from Nissan and that rattle is still there between 1500-2500 what else could it be causing that rattle

Sometimes the low rpm rattle depends on the engine block manufacturing. When piston protrusion is 0.355- 0.4mm the 1.025mm thick headgasket not enogh to smooth engine working. (1.025mm thick headgasket is the maximum size what can you buy for this engine)
Hello. this is the first time i hear about it. For me, it works quieter when it feeds warm fuel to the engine. You think it could be through the head gasket? I have a ratchet from 1,000 to 2,500 rpm. Then he works quietly. I have new injectors and pump. Thanks for the info ..

Hello I bought an 2006 frontier and it now has 80,000 kilometres, I bought it at 76,000km and drove over 4000km in a span of 4 weeks. Im doing a checkup before my warranty goes away, I have 500km left on my warranty! do you think this sound is normal? I have 500km left on my warranty! Timing chain problem or just normal sounds ? Hey Mate, I having trouble with my 2009 Nissan Navarra DC UTE D22. It started from low power and jerks after 2500rpm and above. I have changed the scv, cleaned the intake manifold. I checked inside fuel tank and I can see anything wrong . Im not a diesel expert so Im struggling to sort out the issue . The car is still drivable but stalls when low speed gear 1st or 2nd but able to start again. I tried to disconnect the neutral position sensor but still no luck. Hope to hear from you soon.
