I usually I do not like these sort of videos (mainly because people don’t have a clue) but I must say brother… you have got some killer tones dialed in. Nice work!
I've decided to make this preset available to anyone who'd like to try it. I'm on Cortex Cloud as TheGuitarNerd and this preset is called Plexi Deluxe. Give it a try & lemme know what you think! BTW - when creating these sounds I used a Strat with a Seymour Duncan JB in the Bridge, Classic Hot Stack in the middle and Vintage Hot Stack in the Neck position. The input level of my Quad Cortex is set to 0.0db.
Is that a h/s/s? It must be if you did a split. I don’t have any single coils guitars rn. I do have a music man with split ability. I will see how it goes. Thanks for making these available my friend
Thank you so much for making your preset available. I’m not a “down tuned” metal guy and prefer blues/rock/hard rock sounds. Your preset perfectly nails those sounds. It is hard to find Quad Cortex video’s like this one featuring such good rock tones. Again, thank you.
That’s really cool of you to say - thank you! There’s a lot more stuff coming. I plan to make captures (and Kemper profiles) of my entire amp collection - 14 amps and growing - as well as IR’s of my four 4x12’s with various mics and combinations. These won’t be freebies but I promise they’re going to sound fantastic so stay tuned! Thank you for watching!!!!
I always struggle with the clarity with big delay sounds these created that perfect surround feeling. Love the EQ tips too, again I always cut a lot and forget to add in boosted frequencies, this made a huge difference. Used a slightly tweaked version of your rock preset the other night for a few songs and heads were taken off clean😄 Gonna check this gig set-up too. Thanks!
That’s awesome!!!!!!!!! Thank you for telling me that - it’s great to hear it works well for you. Please let me know how this full preset works for you. Thank you for watching!!!!

Cool video! I'm waiting for the preset upload to your Neural account 😂
Hey, love the videos and your take on the qc. Quick question, what are you using for studio monitors? Watching your previous QC video I could see you getting lost in the tones. As a guitar guy I’d love to know what you’re using and how you think guitar tones come through on your monitors? Thanks for the content and the tips man
Thank you for your kind words! Very cool observation! I use a pair of HEDD Audio Type 30's. They're the Mark 1 version and don't have the DSP that the newer ones have, but they're also more powerful than the newer ones (1200 watts per monitor). They sound ridiculously good, and they're LOUD! I'm pretty old school so they're fairly cranked when I'm shooting these videos LOL! I'm still very new to the Quad Cortex so as I learn more there will be more content. Is there anything you'd like to see me address on here? Thank you for watching!
@@TheGuitarNerdShow wow not a brand I’m familiar with but on looking them up they look like amazing monitors. I think it was mentioned in the comments here already… but seeing how you get on using the QC live would be great. I’m also a sucker for comparisons to real amps, pedals etc.. I find that the neural stuff, plugins and QC has more distortion compared to the real amps. I started to drop the input gain a few dB and it helped. The other big improvement imho is using good IRs rather than the cabs that QC comes with, I really like the X-IRs from a company called tone factor. Not sure that helps with content ideas but I find these to be interesting points with the QC.
I think these tones are excellent…very useable…the leads I don’t like but that’s a personal opinion…the rest are stonking good 👌🏻😻and I guess that’s a personal opinion also 😀
Well thank you! I think I'd like to set down and craft a lead tone from scratch, I havn't done that on here yet. Might change your mind LOL!!!!!! Thank you for watching!
I haven't - the Kemper is working great for me so why mess with what works? That said, I would like to try it live to see how it stands up. But I'd have to program a LOT of different variations of these sounds for various songs' effects needs. So it probably won't happen soon. Thank you for watching!
Quick question for you... I really like your preset but I replaced the marshall amp with a different amp. For some reason why I'm in scenes mode the QC does not allow me to save the amp any longer. For example, I want to use this higher gain amp on chorus crunch and I will select save. It then screws up all the other presets so that both amps are on or none. I don't understand why its doing this. Any idea?
I’m not sure. Are you saving the new amp in place of the old (existing) amp? If not, try that. I have to admit I’m still a bit green with regard to ToneX so I do t have a better answer to give. But thank you for watching!
I like various types of hard rock and metal. Not one type of amp fits all genres and sub genres. I set up my presets in a variety of ways. Some presets are simple and some are insane and have loops for other multi effect units. I recently did a video of how I use the SY1000 for all various types of alternate and drop tunings since the SY1000 can did individual string tunings, unlike the QC that only goes up and down in semi-tones.
