      Please guys, try to copy the Model 3 liquid system to care with love those delicate expensive batteries, cooling at hot summer & fast charges, and warming at cold winter days, and leave the "bettle Era" of old air cooling.

    I get a little annoyed when Bjørn says that ZOE 50 has slow acceleration, I think most people who switch from fossil car to ZOE 50 135hp will not be disappointed with the acceleration.
    If you are used to EVs that have 200hp or more then you will surely be spoiled with extreme acceleration.
    And when it comes to the range of the car, we have to wait for Bjørn's range test to be able to compare with other EVs.

  • @glacieractivity
    @glacieractivity 5 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    I am a bit surprised at the consumption. A TB (tm) range test is needed.
    With this in mind - I always had a soft spot for the Zoe - and with 52 kWh, DC and 22 kW AC this puppy is truly evolving into quite the tiny powerhouse for the buck. Obviously not for a huge family or those that go road-tripping every day. But as an everyday car that happily does the 500 km trip a few times a year to visit friends and family - absolutely. With that reverse speed - one does not even have to turn around to go home :-O
    It is great times, seeing how the bar is continuously raised, also from the entry-level and not only for the premium side.
    And I want to add - the French always had a special understanding of how to make their short wheel-base city-cars feel reassuringly stable at speed.
    Edit - Ps - great job on the Raven/Audi back to back test.

    Bjørn, thanks a lot for your review!
    As a Zoe driver, I need to tell you that the rear fan of the Zoe has two purposes: cooling and heating. Also, the Zoe has a watercooled battery. At 29:40 when you say it's a good combination, you hear the fan and the pump starting so it cools the battery. Thermal management is done in two ways on the Zoe.
    In winter, the rear fan runs constantly and a pump can sometimes be heard from underneath the car. In the summer you hear the fan in the back and in the front, with the AC running. Under the hood on the drivers side, you have a coolant reservoir and that one is for the battery.
    Thanks again!

    Incredible how much detail you can give about a car in how much time, ±5 hours?? Excellent job as always.
    Zoe is used a lot in renting fleets, but also in cities. Having a 22kW charger looks very useful, as lots of parking lots have these chargers. Also renting companies will benefit from it... I suppose that fast ac or dc charging was implemented for them.
    For the owner, only advantages. Cheap, small, fast charging and low maintenance car, looks like a great deal. It reminds me to the Golf at its times.
    Cheers :)

    Another great vlog from Bjorn, full of good information on the new Zoe. As an e-Niro owner of 6 months and 12,000 km I have come to the conclusion there is a ‘charging gap’ with the e-Niro and most other EVs on the market. Like most EV owners most of my charging is done at home and I get 2.2Kw typically...so am adding about 12 km every hour which is fine for me. On the occasional long trips I have used 50Kw DC chargers and they work really well. Adding over 200 km while taking a 40 minute break is fine. Problem is that In France, and I suspect most other countries the 7-22Kw AC chargers greatly outnumber DC Rapid chargers. There are AC chargers in every little village around here... but the e-Niro tops out at 7.2Kw..which adds about 40 km in an hour. If my car could take 22Kw AC like the Zoe I could put 120 km on in an hour, over lunch say which is a really useful top-up..So the ‘charging gap’ is for me between 7kw and 50Kw...The Zoe seems to have filled that gap with 22Kw AC..this could be a winner. For anyone interested, do check out my e-Niro ownership experience ‘Kia e-Niro Diaries’.

      I think we who have been around for a while and remembers the Peugeot 205 GTI (one of the best small hatchbacks ever - regardless of time) will agree with you. I assume this is a tad slower (bit more power, more weight due to battery and safety that the 205 had).
      10 seconds to 100 is obviously not raising much attention. But it is quick enough to not slow the world down.
      What is important is that we are given valid and decent options at a much wider price and size range than just a couple of years ago. I am all yay for that.

    Thanks for looking at the Zoe. I encourage you to give it a full road test and review, as this was a bit hasty. This is the THIRD generation of the Zoe, so Renault are way ahead of other manufacturers making mass market EVs. Value and performance, range and charging are now very good. I suspect the B mode is not just about regen, but is an eco mode, where power is limited to extend range. Second generation Zoe's (41 kw) have normal and eco driving modes and fixed regen settings. Keen to hear your considered views on roadtrip data, and type 3 and CCS charging.

    Old Zoe has apparently not sold very well in Norway. Is this because the blue/red 3-phase connectors issue (TN vs IT 3-phase grid) ? Will the new Zoe work with both 3-phase grids in norway?

    I think Renault says the heating should work while charging. Compared to the R90 (41kWh) where you had to use the pre-heat function that sucks bigtime because fan went full speed and stops after 10 minutes... So please check with Renault and please test this again! :) I use Eco mode a lot in my R90 because itgoes 95km/h but in downhills it does not regen and increase the speed instead if you have the speed limiter set to like 110.. thats a cool feature to save range. It also slows down a bit in hills too....

    • @kjelllindberg6987
      @kjelllindberg6987 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The problem with ECO mode is that it reduces the heating inside... It is one thing to save energy on driving, but freezing when driving does not work for me... I wish that Renault would have separated those two functions.

    I'm 5ft 3" (163 cm) the lack of height adjustment on the seats is a big negative for me (and cup holders and glove box in current Zoe) and I have to have 2 cushions to get me to the right level. I still on my second Zoe as it's otherwise suits me well. Looking forward to the call to come and look at the new one. That being said on most cars I need the full seat adjustment. Borrowed an A class Merc last year and when the seat was right for driving I banged my head every time trying to get in and out.
