One rules comment -- I believe the "Resolve progress card" step is when you are supposed to perform the text on the card, not when it is flipped at the beginning of the round. Nice playthrough!

I have the game. But i have a question. The progress card, take effect during the 3bend phase, not at the phase1... correct? Sorry for my english .., im italian...

Right - the progress card is only resolved during the 3rd phase. Don't worry about your English! My favorite game designers are all Italian! Games like Simurgh, Hyperborea, Zena....

You're right- they take it at the wrong time!!!

I noticed that too, Gabriele. I guess this game has a big ol’ asterisk attached ! *

Good session, as usual. I may need to look closely at this game. Mechanical suggestion...if editing text on screen is not too difficult, when you do things like show your secret objective cards, you may want to screen text the card rather than depend on viewers reading the small card text... Game on.

Thanks for another great playthrough and review. Don't you love it when something flies under the radar and you are pleasantly surprised when you finally get around to playing it ?
Begs the question since you have recently played all three - Empires of the Void II, Pulsar 2849 or this one ? Is there something really compelling about one over the others or is it just down to your preference of game mechanics.

Nice video. I got this game last December and have played it a few times since then. For me the major pros are balancing the burning of cubes with keeping enough to do everything you need to (I seem to often have 6+ in my clausius pit by game end), playing in such a way that when I take an action it's as efficient as possible (a big last turn terraform 3-4 planets is always great), and planning a bunch of moves ahead (it seems like by round 10 I generally basically have my last 6-7 actions planned out).
My only concern is that it might start to get samey soon (it hasn't yet). The nice thing is scores have kept going up so we're presumably getting better at the game, but it seems like it's going to have to hit a plateau soon.
And regarding theme, I agree it could be a bit stronger, but I think it's as strong as any game with this kind of grounded space exploration/colonization theme, which I strongly prefer over the seemingly more popular aliens and crazy technology style sci-fi. Though my favorite themes tend to be more historical/economic so I guess that makes sense.

would you say this game or XIA if you are looking for a sandboxy type of game?

Kepler is more think-y but also very open. XIA is more sandboxy for sure.

Very thoughtful game ,pretty resources management with exploration , medium hardness. i like how you do the talking in the end and exchanges opinions which is interesting as it is but how about add to this conversation like, maybe a cons and pros of this game like maybe in a written form of board or picture? :) also want to know what score would you give this game and how do you think you would like to play this game like every weekend or so?

I don’t get why the board is so big with the few planets on the board? It could have been done without a board, it seems. Unless I’m missing something.

I think for 2 reasons. One being movement. If the planets were clustered together, there wouldn't be a real benefit to increasing the movement tech. Second I think is because it can support up to 4 players which uses 8 more planets than the 20 used in two player. I suppose a 3rd reason could be theme. stars are supposed to be far apart lol

Space is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist, but that's just peanuts to space.
