  • I've seen projects featuring Salt Wash paint additive and I wanted to try some myself. In this video I'm transforming a shiny ceramic lamp, crock, and planter into stylish, textured pieces. I'll tell you what I learned and show you how to achieve different finishes with paint, salt additive, and colored waxes. If you want to update a ceramic lamp or container watch this video to avoid some of my rookie mistakes! I'll give tips and tricks for flipping thrift store finds into stylish new pieces to sell or keep for yourself. Thanks to ‪@JamiRayVintage‬ for the inspiration!

Thanks for the information on the salt wash Amy. There are a lot of old lamps out there that could use this finish!

This is great, I like the 'stone look' when it's done. Thanks for the demonstration!

when you first apply salt wash or the like you don't need to completely cover the surface.

The tutorial starts at 3:18. Have you tried using a sea salt additive on any paint projects? Tell me about it in the comments!!

Can I send you pic of the lamps I bought at an old thrift store.. they are really dirty… there’s flowers on it .. I don’t know if your technique would work.. I really love yours!

Would suggest you use Dixie Bell Slick Stick first on shiny objects and your paint won’t come off.

How long did it take for the first coat of sea salt to dry?

I gave it a couple of hours- you could tell because the color changed when it was dry. Then I did a second coat and I let that one dry overnight since I wanted it totally dry before I painted the next color. Thanks for watching!!
