That's not what he said or meant. There have been a lot of scientific studies done on sexuality and its been shown that sexual orientation falls on a spectrum. It's called the Kinsey Grey scale. No one is 100% gay or straight. You're equating sexual encounters with physical attractiveness. You can like a feature on another person and have no desire to have sex with them. Sexuality is fluid and complicated. People like to pretend its binary when its not.

There was recently a thread on a forum I frequent, "Have you ever been attracted to someone of the same sex?"
A lot of people said you have to be bi then. So what? A few others were cursing and using multiple exclamation points. Why are you so vehemently opposed to the idea of being gay or even bi? Are you afraid? Do you think it's bad? Are you so invested in mere labels?

Now back to the thread. Most people admitted to crushing on a celeb of the same sex. Others said they just never thought about it. I think these are the people that realize that sexuality doesn't define you as a person. Could they be gay or bi? Doesn't matter to them. At least not enough to be so vitriolically against the idea. They aren't so invested in their straight identity that they feel the need to fight for it. I like those people.

I mean, I do not agree that being aroused by same sex interaction can make you a "little bit gay." I think it's more like seeing any sort of interaction between two people on an intimate level is what makes people get turned on. Like, seeing two gay people have sex may not be the reason you are turned on, it may be that sex turns you on. So it does not mean that you are bisexual in the slightest if you view gay porn, straight porn, or transgender porn and get turned on by them all. If you exclusively get turned on by gay porn, and no other type of porn then you can assume you might be gay. Same goes with straight porn. I believe that humans just love sex. Sex is a thing all humans need for survival, it is a wonderful experience, and it is something that can be very tricky to pinpoint.

Savage brings out really good points, and Joe in this case relies _mostly_ on common sense and humor.
This is great, because I didn't know or care about Savage until he made these great points. And on the other hand, Joe brings up at one point, what I believe is one of _many_ flaws with "Case studies", or studies of any kind.
I don't want to rant about it, so long story short: Everyone is completely different, and most people have personal ideologies [most likely opposed to those they even closely associate with] that they do not show to people in public, and will live their whole lives away from or in denial of it. You can't say a study of only a hundred or a million people means jack shit, in a world of a billion+ people. Whenever I see something like: "80% of Americans think THIS", all this means is that a percentage of the people you found and where able to get an answer out of, may have been expressing their true opinion, maybe.

I definitely identify with these comments. I have to say I'm mostly gay. Not completely gay, and I have to admit it can be a strange place to be. Most bi people do have some struggle. Society seems to think you're either gay or strait. And there's some trouble with both the gay and strait communities. Many lesbians won't choose to date an openly bi person because there's a common misconception that you're secretly strait and vice-versa.
For me, being mostly gay, there's also the internal and social struggles to fight with. I could choose a relationship that is socially acceptable and avoid many of the struggles that the gay community faces, but then I need to question if I'm being true to myself.
Of course, the ultimate answer would need to lie in the moment and the individual. However, my point is that being bi to any extent is its own culturally musunderstood can of worms.

biology isn't hard-cut. it's fast and loose. you're attracted (sexually or otherwise) to features of a person, and either gender can display those features. which means that _nobody is perfectly straight_. if you found a woman who looked hyper masculine, you might appreciate how they look, but not want to have sex with them. or, you can find a man who's hyper feminine, and want to have sex with them, even though you're not gay or female.
