Trust me! The Dals were straight out of hell! A Daal is a mixed pulse lentils soup and tarka technically means added spices. My mom always puts fried and cut tomatoes,chillies and cumins with fresh clarified butter in it and it's a chef's kiss!

Seriously. Where are the peas? There are so many variations to both the dishes they cooked but they made the most basic versions.
Actually both dry and saucy versions are authentic depending on the part of India they originate from. I prefer a bit of sauce myself.

My desi aunties are normally encouraging of each other's food! Every "____ tries other _____'s food" video with Buzzfeed somehow finds participants throwing the most shade before even trying it.
I swear if you’re like Indian or Pakistani, you know for a fact the next aunty demeans other aunty’s kid, not their food lol.
