I'm really looking forward to getting back to playing the battle minigames again after 5 years. Greetings from Brazil, I hope the server will be ready for the public this year😄
Going public this year is what we're aiming for, but depending on how things go it could get delayed

might be a little too early to ask but are you planning on adding the other legacy edition modes like Tumble and Glide?
The other two gamemodes are currently under development.
This is utterly amazing. Are there any plans on porting this to Bedrock? Not its own dedicated server, perhaps a marketplace world/behavior pack to carry the nostalgia. I'd 100% buy that in a heartbeat.
Yes! It will exist as a server bedrock players will be able to connect to and play with both Java and Bedrock players once its done. (Crossplay will be optional if players aren't interested in it)

This looks great! I was planning my own recreation already, with minor differences (No remastered maps, no modded client but accommodations for vanilla, etc.) I hope this project does well, and I'm excited to see it once I get the chance.
I should mention all the remastered content is optional and disabled by default, it is things hosts can enable if they want it.
We also develop mainly for the vanilla client, with an optional mod to fix some parity issues we can't do on vanilla. If we required a mod nobody would bother joining
We were planning adding some sort of "100% Parity Mode" but its very low priority at the moment

@@FirstnameLastname-kt5ii I meant to reply to this sooner, we were actually meaning to revisit that as Lunar has gotten a lot of backend updates since it broke.
After checking on it again Lunar does seem to be functional and we will update our site about it but it should be stated that we should not be expected to keep supporting clients that are closed source. When they break it is very difficult to find out why they aren't working, and we are unable to fix the problem ourselves most of the time due to the client being closed source.
When it broke back in 1.17 or 1.18 (Not fully sure which version it was, it was a while back) there was not much that we could do on our end about it. The reason we blocked it was because the game was unplayable in the state it was in (Players being invisible, chat not rendering, etc...)
@@LegacyMinigames I've been thinking about it, and I do want to join the development team. The amount of work you have put into this is incredible. But the amount of work left to do is overwhelming. I usually program in Python, but I would be willing to learn Java to help with this project.

Mojang doesn't host any servers on java or bedrock they have left running multiplayer servers to the community which is probably a good idea because it means that they are customized across the player base to fir a variety of players.
Will this server also include paid maps and textures from the original or only the free maps?

but i gotta admit i didn't find the membership page by any normal means, i had to type a specific link that was tedious to find, but i did it and thats all that matters XD

the weird fact is that as soon as i payed for a membership and became a member, the membership section was selectable again, maybe its a patreon bug/issue, honestly i have no clue.

Will there be 1.8.9 support?
a1.1.1 support when
In short: No. LEM utilizes a lot of new minecraft features to the point where it is not possible.
Full explanation: 1.8.9 is a very old MC version, older than what 4J Studios built the maps with and designed the game with. The game would be significantly different from the original if we had to remove those items from the item sets (Totems, Tipped arrows, Lingering potions, etc...). LEM also relies on modern Minecraft features to function, such as custom fonts, core shaders, custom dimensions, (soon to be) transfer packets, etc... Backporting to 1.8.9 would require an entire rewrite of the whole project, while also compromising the experience with missing features. It is more worth our time to recreate the PVP style of 1.8.9 inside of modern versions instead, which is what we do currently.

if you want to get kicked for invalid packets you can join on 1.8.9
@@DZac The largest Minecraft server of all time (Hypixel) continues to support 1.8.9 for a reason, I think my request is valid…
how to request join?
Invite requests were disabled 2 days ago due to a massive wave of new users trying to get access, the current system we had can not handle this and requires a rework to be able to work with this. There will be a video soon that mentions that this has happened, and when they are available again we will make a community post and will mention it in the next video afterwards.

It will, however if you are ok with waiting around a few weeks or so for the new system to be implemented, I would recommend you do that instead.

Bedrock support can not be made easily, bedrock is an entirely different game on a technical level. Bedrock support was being experimented but was cancelled due to some concerns, you can see more here: www.legacyminigames.net/faq/bedrock
As for "it would be so much better" it wouldn't, actually. Unlike on Java Edition where when we run into a limitation of the vanilla client, we are able to mod the game to fix the issue to make it closer to LCE. On bedrock we don't have tools like Fabric or Forge. If we run into a limitation with game, we just have to deal with it.
