If it’s really loud yes the police can always pull you up and send you to a testing station as for number plate size offences but if your not excessively loud or taking the extremes your generally ok.

Why didnt you just drill the aluminum rivets out to remove the endcap? Seemed like a waste to ruin a carbon fiber piece with holes. Aluminum rivets are cheap.

because you still had to drill the holes in the carbon if you ever wanted to put the db killers back. This is like the original akrapovic before 2017 now (when the EU forbid the holes for removal)

On my 1090 r I put the GPR furore. Only 350 eur. Shaved over 4kg off the bike weight and together with a sport air filter the bike is significantly sharper when opening the throttle and consumes 10% less. With the DB killer is slightly louder than the stock pipe and just perfect. You can remove the dB killer in no time but then the bike is just too loud. Anyway the GPR is the main reason why I have not felt the need to upgrade my bike to the 1290 r 21 which I find more aesthetically pleasing and comfortable than the 890

Hi there Smokey, some time ago I commented on another video about where to do a test drive with a SAS. In the meantime I managed to get my hands on a 2021 SAS :D.
It came with the akra exhaust and the holes are already drilled and the db killers are our which is nice. However the previous owner lost the screws for the db killers so I think for countries like Germany, Switzerland or Austria the exhaust will be too loud. Would you by any chance have the size or a part nr for those screws? I can't seem to find the exact size anywhere as they are in theory not supposed to be removed for the euro norm shizzle. Thanks in advance!

I think this is my like 10th Akra system in a row. Interestingly enough, initially I wasn’t stoked about this particular piece (rare occurrence for me) because of its size, but after looking at SAS equipped with smaller cans It dawned on me that bigger can suits bigger bike better. MotoGP derived tiny can on my SDR is so damn sexy on SDR, but it will look utter stupid on a bike like SAS. Nice work with the muffler. You didn´t follow Ricardos example with the rivets and hard work. Instead you did it the easy way(like I did 6 months ago)
Yes, an Akra costs a lot of money but not so much more than Remus/Arrow (1200€ against1000€) and I must underline that it sounds much better(a big deep tone) than the Remus Hexacone I had on my 1190 R which had a more noisy/metallic tone, and yes I know it is up to each and one to choose which is the nicest. The inner space in the new Akra is a new development with 2 interior db-killers that, despite you remove the two outer, keeps the sound "muffled" in a sophisticated way. Most aftermarket mufflers just "crying out loud".../Thank you Smokey

@@LifeofSmokey The only difference is in the volume, but the sound as such has not changed. We tried it on the Super Duke R, and the GT, 1290SAT and 1190R. It's just louder. REMUS can make a much more interesting and beautiful sound. Akrapovič is only a more expensive brand without justification. So except for the weight, but they are all lighter than the original 🙂

@@janvoracek3628 That's indeed the word i was looking for , a change in volume 😁👌. It is like maybe a little db's louder as original without the db killers but i have been a fan of the brand for many years. Just as i have been for Austin Racing. Grab a light and shine right next to the carbon fiber. You can actually see the bolts. Use something very thin to measure where it is. Even if the hole is not 100% correct you can still get to the bolt no worries 😁. Measure 4 times , drill once 👌

@@tbriccoli as long as it's the db killer don't worry about it. What some people do is put some ice or a cold pack from the freezer into the db killer itself. The metal will shrink just a little bit and you can get it out better 😉. You do have both bolts out right?
