When I reverted, from Catholicism, I avoided telling my family I reverted. I wanted to do all the research for myself without nobody influencing with my journey. When I told them I was fully prepared for all the criticisms and the questions. I answered all of their questions and brought facts. Nobody bothered me after that. Even made some of them agree with the facts I provided.

I am Algerian but lived most of my life here in Spain, unfortunately Christians here (specially Catholic Christians) are very stubborn with their believes, even when they revert some of them they still worship Jesus in some type of form (which obviously it takes you out of the fold of Islam since it's clearly shirk), I know a "revert" who "accepted" Islam about 15 years ago, to this day he wears a cross stating that "it's the cross of the prophet Issa" astaghfirullah, I think the main problem is the people that give them dawah, they sugarcoat a lot of things and they implement in them a liberal type of Islam (which is a completely oxymoron). Another very common issue in reverts from catholicism here in Spain is that they think that the hijab/niqab is a traditional dress and not an islamic obligation for the women, they even see the hijabi/niqabi spanish reverts as some type of "traitors" since they think that wearing a hijab/niqab is something for arabs only which is funny because in their churches "Mother Mary" wear a hijab herself and Jesus as they depict him he wears some type of thobe and beard. May Allah guide us all
I have seen Churches that admit the cross is Idol worship. They don’t have cross, or statue of Jesus(AS) or Mother Mary(RA) because they themselves admit it’s idol worship, you can see a video of preacher giving sermon explaining this that it says it’s forbidden to make an image and pray to it in scripture. I think a lot of people are attached to the cultural pride Chrstianity gives them and that’s why someone would continue wearing a cross or reject hijab like you explained.

And yes, I agree with the cultural Christianity thing plus they normally asociate islam with arabs and here in Spain they have a very poor view of the arabs (especially us the North Africans), but at the end of the day the truth can only be one thing, doesn’t matter what the culture, the race or the science says, Islam prevails over everything

As a kid I knew there was only 1 God, before a lady of the church tried explaining the Trinity to me. This shocked me because I couldn't make sense of it then. It felt like some kind of betrayal. I just went with it because I didn't know any better. Alhamdulilah I'm a Muslim now and it only took one ayat, to feel closer to God than a hundred of churches ever could for me.

I just went back to being Catholic because that's how I grew up and I'm hard wired and some church Elder gave me some examples and explanations that made sense to ME because I desperately wanted it to make sense to me. He looks like a really good person and I really hope it clears up for him and he sees the truth. My opinion: It seems that he views Christianity as familiar and feels like home to him, (this is how a Muslim friend of mine who reverted from Christianity expressed it), as this is all he knew and it's hard to accept Islam because it feels foreign and he might be feeling scared to do so. So send him messages of encouragement instead 👌

As a kid I knew there was only 1 God, before a lady of the church tried explaining the Trinity to me. This shocked me because I couldn't make sense of it then. It felt like some kind of betrayal. I just went with it because I didn't know any better. Alhamdulilah I'm a Muslim now and it only took one ayat, to feel closer to God than a hundred of churches ever could for me.
