    Looked like it worked great on the water today and now i know why the head unit wasn’t moving while we chatted 😀 sweet set up right there

    Great video! I'm upgrading my RT178's trolling motor next season and this is on the list. I like the Vanson Leathers sign. They're 45 minutes from me.

      Nice! Thanks, spent a few years in Vanson leathers! Not as comfy as Dainese but solid gear.

    Nice video. Great choice. I’m running the minn Kota terrova. Might go to the ghost. The terrovas turning mech is just a bit too loud in my opinion.

      @@samporterbass Thanks, how do you update a ghost with a gen 3 HDS unit?

    • @samporterbass
      @samporterbass  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@matthewlindquist6747 I don't believe the update allows the Ghost to communicate with Gen3's?! I traded all my Gen3's in on Carbons through RMP shortly after installing the Ghost. Russell Marine Products was blowing Carbons out and I got a stimulus check lol

    great video! does the ghost get more speed for you than the X5. just wondering at 24volts what the comparison is between the two? The brush less i heard gets more lbs of thrust. I always gauge it off the speed on my lowrance graphs.I just ordered the ghost for 19 feet 8in phoneix and are wondering if I should use 36v or 24v. thanks for the info

    • @samporterbass
      @samporterbass  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! YES, it pulls my boat 0.5mph faster. The great thing about the Ghost is, try it at 24v, if you want or need more, add a battery and change it to 36v. Super easy to do.

    Did you figure out why you're motor was making a noise while not using. I don't think it should do that

    • @samporterbass
      @samporterbass  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just needed the latest update! It would also search and sway back and forth on a waypoint (something you can somewhat see in my Potholes Smoke Show vid), BOTH went away after the update.

    So I installed a ghost on my 2020 triton 18tx. Basically the same boat did you have any issues with it being so heavy that it made your boat lean?

    • @samporterbass
      @samporterbass  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No lean issue but I'm sure the weight of it is why I lost top end speed. Bow rise isn't what it used to be and I believe it's causing more hull to drag in the water. I could not care less though, wouldn't trade it for anything!

    Great video. I'm getting my ghost next fall, but am already watching install videos. I have a 2010 Tracker Pro Guide V16 SC. I'm hoping there is enough real estate on the bow to mount this thing. The current Powerdrive Minn Kota 42# thrust motor has been underpowered since day one. I'll be going 36 volt so I assume I'll need all the mounting holes I can use.
    I also cringed when I saw the pedal move while entering calibration mode. I only knew from another video to not move it while setting the offset.

    • @samporterbass
      @samporterbass  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lmk if you need any measurements?

    • @phatdonkey78
      @phatdonkey78 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@samporterbass How long is the shaft from the base of the head to just above the motor? My powerdrive is 52 inches and I have a ton above the mount. I'm sure the 47 inch shaft will work for my setup. Also, what is the distance between the mounting holes on the base?

    • @samporterbass
      @samporterbass  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@phatdonkey78 sorry for the delay, had to work through the holiday and haven't been near the boat. I took a measurement from the bottom of the head to the top of the motor housing and it's 45 inches. Same measurement but from the bottom of the mount collar under the head is 43 inches. You do not have to worry about mounting holes as there are plenty on the mount to choose from!!

    • @phatdonkey78
      @phatdonkey78 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@samporterbass Awesome man, thanks. I may have to go with the 52 inch to be sure I get the motor deep enough. Appreciate the info.

    It's not the nylon that heats up. It's the metal heating up that causes a seize. Throw away the nuts that come with the motor and use brass nylon lock nuts. They won't seize.

    How did the heading sensor work on the front of the boat? I was wondering if it being aluminum would it interfere with the heading sensor.

    • @samporterbass
      @samporterbass  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Excellent! Aluminum doesn't interfere at all and there's a perfect area right there completely devoid of wiring!

    • @samporterbass

      Came with the boat. Any marine supply store should have them. Just be sure to use dielectric grease on them, they're prone to corrosion.
