Mirotic by TVXQ is the most covered Kpop song ever. Taemin's hair was a wig and he's said he hated it. What a lot of people don't realize is that BigBang and TVXQ concerts from back then still are some of the top selling Kpop world tours. Big Bang up until last year had 5 of the top 10 Kpop world tours. They were selling out arenas, stadiums and domes around the world, including the US and South America as far back as 2012. They sold over 1 million tickets per tour as far back as 2015.
I genuinely love 2nd Gen music. I'll never get bored of it. Grew up with BIGBANG, but I listened to all of these groups and all of these songs were iconic to 2nd Gen fans.
BigBang is the drop of crazy nonconformity and creativity Kpop needed back then to fully break and divert from the factory-produced choreo-bound good-looking boys and girls type to a more experimental and creative self-producing direction. Edit: Lol I forgot that 2PM Hands Up video is so GD&TOP High High coded.
Bigbang and 2ne1's lollipop is iconic bc it supposed be a lg phone commercial. later the song was popular, they released mv and song officially and 2ne1 didnt debut yet
Block B is the ultimate hip hop group! There will never be another group with such an iconic heavily rap/r&b based music. (Followed closely by Winner and iKon too)
These are second generation, they practically founded the use of concepts, so practically many groups of the third generation were inspired by them, so technically BTS based their concepts on bigbang and on what was popular at that time, not the other way around.
I had to watch this reaction as soon as I saw that 2PM is a part of it. They are absolutely the greatest fun and their music is always great. You should check out their live performances too. They are the most likeable group ever. Each member is so talented as a performer and a musician, and they write and produce almost all of their songs. If you go after individual artists be sure you check out 2PM member, Lee Junho. He is a fabulous performer, songwriter, composer, dancer---I could sing his praises on and on. He is worth your time.
This was a blast down memory lane. I love BigBang and I always enjoy watching new BB reactors when Lolipop begins and they get that frozen, omg what am I listening to look, which then starts to melt away as the song funkafies and the relief becomes palpable in their voice. 😂 Bigbang has a massive videography and they went through different stages in their long career. Their official MV’s are excellent. Their award show performances are mini concerts, and MV’s from their concerts will show you true artists who have a fan base devoted to them.
Block B debut in 2011 and thats like the border between 2 and 3 gen 😅. Nilliria is a korean folk song . I know because GDragon has a song called Nilliria with Missy Elliott. Lollipop is actualy an advertisment for an LG phone . Is the unoficial debut of 2ne1 and everyone's guilty pleasure 😁. Fantastic Baby was released as part of the 2012 Alive album after a difficult time for BigBang. This is why you see the people with masks , representing fans , fighting those who want to stop BigBang music . The members are frozen , chained up , GDs hair grew long after waiting a long time and TOP represents revolutionary figures . I hope you watch more BigBang and higly recommend their live performances.
"Old kpop adds that spice to it"! I loved your description of old kpop. Thank you so much for your reaction. So happy to see someone enjoying 2nd generation kpop as I do. Hope to see more old kpop reactions on your channel, maybe next time their live stages because believe me, they are even more amazing on stage. Good luck
Think about it like this: any idol in their 20s now was a teenager when these groups were big. So these are the artists they grew up admiring, the people who inspired them to become idols. These are the songs they all learned all the words for and the videos they watched to learn the dances.
LOVE, Love that you reacted to 2nd GEN!! NO ONE does!!! Please do more!! I've been in Kpop for 10 years now, and i just love the beginning stuuf too!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hi I'm new to ur channel and once I see BIGBANG'S name, I click. I loved ur reaction sm❤ I'll subscribe hoping for more BIGBANG reactions. They're so cool and their music is so diverse so you'll so surprised. They were the 1st group that produced their music and they wrote all their songs by themselves bcz agencies back then didn't allow their artists to do so. That's why I always recommend reacting to BIGBANG with English subs( even if the main mv does not have subs, they're a lot of vids made by fans with subs). They're called the kings of live performances and the kings of K-pop for a reason.
Definitely love your pick here, Block B was quite a wild card though, glad to see them featured. I'd love to se more, specially 2PM (Heartbeat, I'm Your Man, ADTOY), UKiss is great (Shut Up, Tick Tack, Neverland), maybe 100%, MBLAQ, Super Junior is not my favorite but they're important for KPop. Girl group wise, After School please (Bang, Because of You, Diva), T-ARA (Bo Peep, Why Are You Being Like This?, Yayaya), MissA, Secret and AOA would be great options too. I'll keep an eye on you, I like hearing your thoughts on old Kpop.
SHINEE!!! Still one of my favourite groups, their discography is soo good and they're still some of the best artists out there rn imo🔥You posted this almost right on their 16th anniversary!! I really recommend some live performances, the energy and vocals are insane -try Ring ding dong + Lucifer from SWC5 and Stranger from SWC4 !!
10:48 some songs released nowadays as comebacks are covers of old kpop songs, for example Candy by NCT. Mirotic by TVXQ is a classic. I have actually the song in my playlist for like 15 years or more, and I only got into kpop in 2021 :) btw the author of the song (the music) sold it to Eastern and Western market simultaniously. in the East it was sold to SM entertainment for TVXQ and in the West it was sold to some German singer, I don't remember the name of the German song or singer (it wasn't a famous song apparently, because none of the Germans I know and show Mirotic, recognize the melody).
@@RReacts_ I found it, the German singer is called Sarah Connor and the song name is under my skin :) it was released in 2009, next year after mirotic.
Solid list of boy groups! May I recommend BTOB? Early 3rd gen, debuted in 2012, still active. Mostly known for their live vocals, harmonies, melodic rap and crazy personalities! Their most successful song: Missing You Their most loved song by international kpop fans: I'll Be Your Man Latest comeback: Wind And Wish Debut: Insane Confused as the debut song 😆: WOW
I saw 2PM on their Put Your Hands Up tour. They were great. Saw G Dragon from BigBang on his Mott's tour and also Block B. Had the best times. Will always remember the fun I had.
SHINee are considered legends, they're all extremely talented and creative individually, all soloists. they popularized quite a lot of things in kpop. Yoongi from BTS said that their company used to give them SHINee's performances as an example of how intense they should perform. Taemin, the yongest member was named as the role model by around 200 idols and he's only 30 now (they're all still pretty young because they debuted very young). other groups mention that their longevity/relevancy to this day inspires them They're still active as a group and grow in popularity with each comeback. Their music obviously changed though, after they gained creative freedom & established their style. it would be cool if you see their 2023 comeback with Hard or something like 1 of 1
since you like 2nd gen groups i highly recommend Infinite! especially their song The Chaser, it quite literally made kpop history and turned the tides of the industry when it was failing! they were known as the kings of kpop and they're famous for their synchronization if i recall correctly
Funny how you mentioned SHINee reminded you of fx, theyre bros/sis groups. And they even changed songs for their comenack 4walls/view. Also the have stage/song some collabs (love lollipop) they bith were known as the experimental music groups
Block B actually debuted before BTS and they’re really heavy hiphop group, most of the members came from underground hiphop, once of the leading group which transformed how Kpop group became now
My favorite group, n.SSign, has covered TVXQ, SHINee, EXO, etc. from the time of their audition to the present. Their performance was really good, and that's how I got to know the real group.(They respect the seniors of that era very much, so they covered them at the recent KCONJAPAN.) Their performance in that era was amazing.(TVXQ etc.) It's a shame that new groups these days are moving away from that type of music. So I tend to listen to songs from that era more often.(with n.SSign cover too.).
1st Gen, 2nd gen (Aka Old K-pop ) First Gen, Father of K-pop Seo Tae-Ji & the boys 1992 Song Come Back Hope Tiger K rapper. Epik High, Rain, Jay Park. Early K-pop was more RB hip influenced. Still is and the concept of dancing performing was Michael Jackson inspired. The man who brought the music revolution he visited the US and liked MTV. This would have been in the late 80’s when SK became a democracy. SHINee been together 20th s including training. Shinhwa 1998 song Perfect Man The older the song, the less likely the video has subs.
So much nostalgia from watching Block B, its been so long since i heard their music or mv's. Also, would recommend watching Big Bang's live stages. Even their regular music show stages, or MAMA stages are basically concerts. They know how to put on a show. Also you should check out Lies and Haru Haru by big bang, those are the songs that put Big Bang on the map. Unfortunately, we wont be able to enjoy any future Big Bang songs because of all the scandals that surrounded them over the last, around 5 years or so. They are all doing their own separate things now. And loved that you reacted to Mirotic by TVXQ, because unfortunately that song was the LAST song that had all 5 members in it. Only Yunho and Changmin remained as TVXQ, the other 3 members left SM to form their own group as JYJ under Cjes entertainment. From 2PM, originally had 7 members with Jay Park being that 7th member, but left due to scandals or other things (i think he left after their debut song). Other groups from 2nd Gen to checkout: -B.A.P -2AM (brother group of 2PM, they are a ballad group) -Infinite -Super Junior -
My current favourite groups are Stray kids, BTS and (G)I-dle. But K-pop 2nd generation will forever my favourite generation overall cause there were too many amazing legendary groups. They had individuals, charisma and each had own unique vibes which nowaday majority of groups lacking
Couldn’t see if anyone explained this. But Lollipop is not a “real” song. It’s a song made for the Lollipop phone. 😂 it’s also 2ne1’s “debut”. This was the first introduction before they officially debuted as a way to get their name out there using their sunbae’s (Big Bang) popularity. So yeah. It’s not a normal sound for either group but to be used as a “commercial” song. Big Bang (no 2ne1 this time) did a second commercial song for the Lollipop phone. It sounds. Um. Very suggestive 😂😂😂 I blame GDragon. Also you don’t need to worry about knowing SeungRi anymore. Unfortunately he was involved in The Burning Sun Scandal (really highly involved) so he’s officially excommunicated by the kpop community. Just focus on the other four.
Mirotic is the most famous song of TVXQ but not the best. They are debut as acapella group so their vocal and harmonize are really good. All member are vocalist themselves. Pls check the other song of TVXQ pls and you will see more the beautiful song.
I wish more people reacted to old kpop! Thanks! Please also include Infinite as they are 2nd gen and are super well known for their knife like choreography.
Have you seen B.A.P.? They are no longer together. Check out Warrior, Power and especially One Shot. Many other great songs. They were our first K Pop concert.
you should react to beast next time! since you like 2pm here i recommend beautiful night but fiction, shock, good luck are iconic another great 2nd gen group would be infinite!! (the chaser or be mine)
This is gen2 songs so comparing them with gen3 is useless like Nillili Mambo was released in 2012, a year before BTS even debuted like BlockB was on top of their game back then but ofc I would say BTS was after BigBang styles more
Every group in 3rd gen pivoted away from Big Bang's schtick(edginess in their music making, charisma, swag, dynamism, and rockstar-like live-stage acts). It's not something you can self-learn or train someone to do. Big Bang in essence was both the Rock-n-roll and hip-hop spirit rolled into one delivered in the form of Kpop. The only 3rd gen group that resembles BB was their agency's junior group IKON, not BTS.
2nd gen was full of vocals which is why alor of fans from then are kinda selective bur give all a chance but yeah 6.6 they also were fun songs and tbh I do think kpops going back since a lot of 5th gen is doing 1st 2nd gen Insp stuff which yay about time, we also had alor of sexy concepts
What's your favorite out of these? There are more to come! Each sunday from now on (or mostly) we will have a closer look at older K-Pop groups! #kpop #kpopreaction
for 2pm you have to listen to my house haha it's such a meme
2PM ofc

I heard that taemin's hair in sherlock era was a wig, but luciefer era, it was his real hair 😊
@@user-gk1no8uc2i he was on a show and they showed that video and he said he hated that wig.

Indeed 👍
These are second generation, they practically founded the use of concepts, so practically many groups of the third generation were inspired by them, so technically BTS based their concepts on bigbang and on what was popular at that time, not the other way around.
Emphasis on NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND.
The main reason I was an army before (NOT NOW) was exactly because they reminded me of BigBang and they couldn't keep BigBang off their mouths.
2PM was the first live k-pop concert that my daughter and I saw, way back in 2014. I can't believe it's been almost 10 years!
Wow ❤️

Other groups from 2nd Gen to checkout:
-B.A.P
-2AM (brother group of 2PM, they are a ballad group)
-Infinite
-Super Junior
-
I’ll definitely have a look at all these groups. They are already on my list 🫶🏻
Mirotic is the Korean version. Sarah Conner (German artist) - Under my skin in English though.
I love Mirotic. EXO did a cover of it. They might be the best cover.
Super Junior is a really good older group.
Thanks for telling ❤️ that’s good to know
Shinee 💎
Mirotic is the most famous song of TVXQ but not the best. They are debut as acapella group so their vocal and harmonize are really good. All member are vocalist themselves. Pls check the other song of TVXQ pls and you will see more the beautiful song.
I will check them out! Mark your calendar! 09th of June ;)
I miss Jonghyun, now i always feel like something is missing every time I see Shinee's old MV
I love Mirotic. EXO did a cover of it. They might be able to do it better.
Super Junior is a really good older group.
Another 2nd gen is Super Junior, btob, b.a.p, beast/highlight, mlaq
Old kpop has the sexy feel ❤
I wish more people reacted to old kpop! Thanks! Please also include Infinite as they are 2nd gen and are super well known for their knife like choreography.
They are on my list aswell ❤️
@@RReacts_ ahhh amazing! 😍 I recommend Be Mine and the Chaser (among others)
you reacted to block b!! you should react to BEAST/B2ST (now known as HIGHLIGHT) you can’t leave them out when mentioning 2nd gen heh
I will :)
Have you seen B.A.P.? They are no longer together. Check out Warrior, Power and especially One Shot. Many other great songs. They were our first K Pop concert.
I will have a look at them at some point :)
You need to react to SHINEE’s live performance with Lucifer + Ring ding dong 💯
Block B!!!!!!! 🙌🙌🙌🙌
My pic is Block B. But Mirotic is the legend. and I luuve Lollipop clip. not any more lollipop kind. Good old days.
BIGBANG IS K-POP G.O.A.T
*Please react to SM GROUPS: TVXQ! SUPER JUNIOR, GIRLS GENERATION, SHINee, FX, EXO, RED VELVET, NCT, AESPA and RIIZE!*
Some are to come. Already reacted to SNSD, Aespa and Riize and some nct units ❤️
bringing back my old memories😢
you should react to beast next time! since you like 2pm here i recommend beautiful night but fiction, shock, good luck are iconic
another great 2nd gen group would be infinite!! (the chaser or be mine)
9:12 reyes vocales, lucifer by SHINEE 💎💎💎💎💎❤️
Like for the legendary SHINee 👑💯💎🔥❤️
Bigbang and TVXQ
This is gen2 songs so comparing them with gen3 is useless like Nillili Mambo was released in 2012, a year before BTS even debuted like BlockB was on top of their game back then but ofc I would say BTS was after BigBang styles more
Yeah I just still got the same vibes that’s what I mean. Since I only knew BTS before :)
@@RReacts_ you should look up BTS v Block B Boys in Battle 'Fight of the Century' from the 2014 MAMA
@@onlydbrasko REAL. BTS did try, tho. Heh.
BIGBANG 💗and SHINee💗 Please react Taemin 's solo song (Taemin fm SHINee )❣ also BTS 💜 and INFINITE💛
Bigbang coming this Sunday. The others will have their time to shine aswell at some point
TVXQ AND BLOCK B❤❤❤
It might be that more of TVXQ is coming soon ;)
Long Live 2nd Gen 🙏
2nd gen was full of vocals which is why alor of fans from then are kinda selective bur give all a chance but yeah 6.6 they also were fun songs and tbh I do think kpops going back since a lot of 5th gen is doing 1st 2nd gen Insp stuff which yay about time, we also had alor of sexy concepts
