Love both your channels and your drum collection! I have a similar collection and refurbish vintage drums. It’s much like my family system…always a work in process!
I believe the medium tuning brought out more of the differences in the sets.... Rogers has the best tone in my opinion. I would have like to hear the Slignerlands without the pinstripe heads.....maybe a set of Aquarian Vintage....
amazing !!!! can you make a video demonstration how to tune the drums in high key with the ludwig 1966? I want to tuning it that way but I don't know how to do it :(
Besides the pinstripes in the Slingerlands was it all coated Ambassadors on snares and toms on all the other sets? What about muffling in the bass drums and any holes in the front bass drum heads?
Lol...I was switching out a lot of heads but I know what you mean. That red stuff is red tape residue from on overly muffled snare I bought and grabbed the head because it was a nice ludwig coated medium.

Gretsch and Rogers
Some great brand names there.
Those Sonors sounded very good.
Rogers & Ludwig sound great. I prefer medium tuning on those
Gretsch and Sonor at high tuning. Ludwig and Gretsch and Sonor at medium tuning.
I’m a Ludwig guy but I gotta admit I liked the Gretsch at the high tuning best👍🏼

They all sound good 👍
thanks!

What inch does the tom rack have in the Ludwig Hollywood?
Rogers then Sonors at both tunings. Have Ludwigs but of these tested, ludwigs were my least favorite.
All sound great! Two questions: blood on the snare? How do you stand those upside down tom logos???? OCD and I'm not even OCD!!!

Can you please talk about your approach to tuning the bass drums? Did you use felt strips, and if so on which side?
Thanks!
felt strip on reso side - i try to tune bass drums to themselves - medium to low ish
