Thank you so much for having me, Luke - I absolutely loved meeting you and having this conversation.
(Listening back, I also enjoyed your mild descent into madness on the topic of Mars Bars at the end!)
Thanks for being such a warm and inviting host, and for letting me share my views on what I think is really important about language learning. I hope your listeners enjoy this episode as much I as enjoyed recording it :)

Hi! Sorry, I didn't get, this deep frying obsession, is it the entire UK thing? Or is it just Welsh/Scottish specific? 🤷‍♂️
      And the crickets... 😂
      Thank you!

Mainly a Scottish thing, but in the rest of the country we deep fry fish & chips. In Scotland (certainly this particular part of Edinburgh) they also deep fry lots of other things.@@MaksimShinyaev

Luke I have been listening to your podcast for 2 weeks. I like your manner of speaking, acting and teaching. It’s amazing. Especially when your stage stories you read. You make learning emotional and lively instead of boring. If all teachers were like you the whole world would know English. Thank you so much Luke and Rhiannon for the lovely conversation. I currently live in Wales and feel a connection with people who have Welsh roots. I admire Rhiannon as she holds a master's degree in Theology which is quite rare. My mother-in-law also holds a master's degree in Theology, and I understand that one needs to be a highly intelligent individual to comprehend the various concepts of religion. I absolutely love her very clear language and her attitude to studying languages. Well done!

As a student and language teacher I widely smile every time people're talking about CELTA-DELTA stuff.
I spent each of 5 years dying hard for only Bachelor degree in teaching. I wish I'd known another way which wouldn't had taken so long (and only for the sake of the Bachelor's!). I wish I was young again

I'm really proud of myself. I had no problem understanding your engaging conversation. Probably because both of you, Luke and Rhiannon, speak beautiful English and your pronunciation is pleasant to my ears. I also believe that the last few months, during which I have listened to many episodes of your podcast, Luke, have made me more proficient in listening to the English language. Thank you very much, Mr. Thompson😊

    Hello Luke,
    Thank you very much,
The episode is quiet interesting and useful.
One thing I'd like to say is, that England's rugby team really is to be proud of. They played great rugby in France, and won bronze medals which are more valuable than the silver ones from the previous championship.
    Cheers

Hi Luke, I really enjoy the last episode, especially when Rhiannon explained her coach approach, I believe that it is very helpful for many professional that have a good or excellent English level but some physiologic feelings such as shy, anxiety, uncertain and etc need also to be worked.
I recognized that sometimes I missed some words during the conversation, but it´s totally fine, it´s part of the processes.
    Cheers!!

I'm also a language teacher, I teach Chinese students about Japanese language.
I currently work in a training school, and our class focuses on the JLPT test, while I realized that there are lots of students that don't even want to pass the test. They sometimes feel upset when they couldn't pass the exams we prepared, and when they found that they were not prepared to communicate with Japanese people.
I want to make changes but I myself still need to become experienced in the school...

Thank you Luke for interesting conversation. It’s was a little bit challenge to understand Rhiannon, unlike you, but I’ve tried. And it was so amazing and joyfully to catch the meaning most of her speech (1 year ago I understood nothing)). And we call bar Mars in Ukraine. Like the planet). But it not my favourite (not healthy food, too sweet). And I want to say that had a little confusion when heard from you about frying Mars in batter (I had to search the translation, because I thought they dip Mars in butter and then fry it in oil😅)

Thank you! It was a very interesting conversation. I've enjoyed especially the part about teaching and coaching. I'm a teacher of my native language and I've finished post graduated course to be able to teach. I also live abroad and speak two foreign languages, one at C1 and one at B1 level. I find it crucial for being a good teacher to be also a student of a foreign language. It helps a lot to understand students and to motivate them. The worst teachers of mine, were ones who have not spoken any other language apart from their native one. Do you agree with me?

oh my goodness!! I was wondering what those Maz bars would be >>>>...lol... then after the interview you explained it then!!! bang~~here we go~~ I realized what it was.. !! That Mars bars~~~haha. I loved them so much when i was in Brisbane (oz). I have been there for 10 years.. i did not know the 'Mars' was that famous.. thanks for these beautiful learning materials. I came back to Korea since 2019 and become less familiar with English even though I have been teaching English for my students. Your podcasts are great breakthrough and real help for me to keep up my learning,, I love English so much and listeing to podcasts and reading English books are my all time favorite learning method. but teaching is quite complicated. i feel i'm still learner and i love to be that position. That's why I love watching your you-tube channel. I loved one of the ABC RN which called [All In The Mind] (Australia radio) and I had listened to that program for 6 years as I love the presenter her name was Lynne Malcolm. I dont know why , but her voice was just so much my kind of person. it helped me a lot to improve my listening and reading too as it was a bit academic type of program. and here we are i met your program since then as i was trying to find that kind of a good-matching-with-myself mode. too many English you-tubers and programs. but once I found out for what could be lasted for myself and my nature.. then choosing right learning materials would be so much easier.. its just for me. i was like that. I am my early 40s and and i hated about English till 20s as I had studied about Korean language ans literature and changed my major later into History in uni. So i was never ever interested in English back then. But i went to oz 2011 with my working holiday visa (is that right in English? just translated from Korean term.) that was my life game changer.. i loved English since then. bc it wasn't real English at all that i had learnt during my entire school life till high school. it was... just rubbish. sorry for saying like this.. but so many students hated English as it was one of subjects that made them overwhelmed with lots of grammar rules and not interesting materials for reading. but what i experienced in Australia was completely different than what I got my learning from school in South Korea. .... oops.. i should go and i wrote too much here. anyway i wanted to say thank you Luke, your channel is so much helpful and you are doing great work for English learners like me. i really appreciate what you are doing. have a wonderful day and night with your loving people in FR. 🥰

She WAS a theology student - I don't find it funny how the young woman talks about her studies. People who don't believe in God should never study theology. What if they think there is no God? There is clear proof: nature cannot be created by a human being - nor a Big Bang.
The young woman also speaks much too quickly and her pronunciation isn't good either - so it's not suitable for me to learn.
