This time I’m going for an adventure bike, which has a totally different leg position. Thanks for this vid.
This video is why you're simply the best motorcycle youtuber around. Great instruction, and was easy to comprehend. Thank you for your effort.
Late reply a year later, but thank you for the kind words!
I guess is because of your experience as a instructor that makes us feel so freaking comfortable and interested in learning this; this is a great learning video especially for us that have no experience in bikes. Planning in a couple of weeks (GOD WILLING) getting myself a "soft tail deluxe", I sort of know how to ride a bike (kinda rusty) but man you have no idea how helpful you are. Thank you for these videos and be safe out there!!
I didn’t get the soft tail, I got myself a 2016 Fatboy S and I FREAKING LOVE IT!!! Even though it was "used" it wasn’t... allow me to explain 😎😎😎
It belonged to a doctor who bought it just to have her sitting down in his garage, turned the engine on on sundays just to go around the block for three years, got her with only 267 miles... 😍😍😍😎 isn’t that cool?! Man I’m so excited!!
again thanks for the videos and be safe out there
Yes I do, seems we got ourselves a great deal with our bikes!
thank you and be safe out there.
As someone looking to get into motorcycling with ZERO experience, your vids are about the best Ive found! Enjoying immensely :)
Brother because of you I'm getting my first Harley iron 883 right now!
How is it? I’m thinking about purchasing one?
Jacob Serrano it’s life changing brotha had it for about a year I driving it everyday met so many people because of it
Jose Pulido sweet man! Would it make a good starter bike you think?
Im getting one this week, have never drive one but i will go pick up mine this wednesday. THis vid helped a lot.
I think i've watched this 100 times and it made me finally feel comfortable enough to start riding. Thanks blockhead
Man this is the most amazing video I’ve seen. I have never ridden a manual motorcycle before and with this I feel much more prepared for when I start my classes. You’re an awesome teacher 👊🏼
Thanks DAT, glad the video helped! 👍🏼
Thank you so much! My husband has a bike and I'm always passenger. I'm so excited to show him what I've learned. Blessings!
Dude this was (parts 1-x) amazing. I've just got my first bike (not dirt), a new Honda Fury, My neighbor had to get it out of his garage so was a deal I couldn't refuse. I was able to ride ride outa that garage and pull it right in to my place without being embarrassed. Very well dome mate.
My dad has been riding since he was my age or earlier (i’m 20). He’s had countless bikes of all different types, and 14 Harleys in specific. I watched him build choppers from the frame up when I was little! Theres a lot i can learn from him, but he’s very impatient and not a very good teacher. I’m so thankful to have TH-cam at my fingertips! Thank you for explaining things so thoroughly and taking the process slow. Riding a bike can be pretty intimidating when someone like
my dad is trying to explain it, but you teach in a very friendly way. Can’t wait to watch
more of your vids! 🤘🏻😁
I'm 18 and have been driving an SUV for a little over a year now here in the Philippines. Your explanation on the clutch and shifting helped me further understand the damn things. It used to be quite confusing back in driving school. Much respect and thanks, Blockhead!
So I noticed this vid and comments are 1 year old but I just found this video as I am looking to learn how to ride a motorcycle. I just want to say this man is amazing. He is an amazing instructor and damn it, I want this man to train me in everything man-code related 😆. Absolutely awesome how looking at this video POV makes it so much easier to learn what to do. I know i have to take the official class but you will not learn it as good as this video. This is my very first comment in a you tube video btw. So thank you so much and i will be watching these vids often. Cheers from Hollywood, Florida!
Lol thanks for the kind words, glad the vid helped out! 👊🏼
It's sad that I took a 3 day class, bought a bike not knowing a damn thing and had the previous owner drive it to my house---ONLY to learn to ride from YT videos! So much more patient and clear.
Holy shit, I'm in that position right now minus the class. I just bought Sportster 1200, had the previous owner deliver it to my house, then watching this video on "How To Ride A Motorcycle". hahaha
How are you coming along now?
LOL I did exactly that a couple days ago. Had the guy deliver his 883 to my house. It looks like and is a beast
Same lol
Jonathan Ho how are you liking your 1200 custom? Is it a great beginners bike? I’m torn between that and the 48 Special.
Jonathan Ho would like to know as well how is 1200 doing for you.
im so glad that there are still people out there who want to spend little of their time just to teach others, thankyou bro
I just wanna know where you found a parking lot that empty
Steven Daniels same. This is a struggle of mine lol.
@chief tp trust me i am fucked my shopping mall has like 1000 cars oh god
Probably the early hours when the mall hasn't opened yet. Where I'm from, the malls open at 10
@@sheenachante i just go out on roads at 5 or 6 am lol... roads are empty at that time
Arlington Texas next to six flags
You are amazing teacher, never seen anyone explain it better, feel like I can hit the road straight from the TH-cam
As a young 15 year old in Alabama with intention of buying owning and operating Harley Davidson 883 Iron I would like to thank you these videos are helping me learn
One of the many nice things about having a manual car is you learn: when all else fails, clutch!
I wanna start lessons soon and was mostly afraid the gearing would be hard af......after watching this video i'm like "oh so it's the same as driving a car. But like with computers and consoles the controls are just in a different setup" xD It makes so much more sense after watching this.
Out of all the videos on TH-cam in regards to beginning clutch and shifting, this is probably the best one. Really, great instructional video.
A few years ago i watched your videos and got a ride 2 hours away to pick up my first bike, immediately learned how to ride it on the spot thanks to you, and was able to safely ride home. Thank you for helping new riders.
I’ve been waiting to comment on this video: I GOT MY IRON 1200 TODAY AND NOW I WATCH THIS VIDEO IN A NEW LIGHT
Congrats! 🤘🏼
Just picked up a 883!
Omar omg I’m so proud! How do you love it?
What's the price
7:38 I was literally at my desk watching on my computer doing this as you said it...
Me too
Same lol
I did it too!!
same ! LOL
I'm now riding a 2012 triumph Bonneville (my first bike) with ease, thanks to you.
Yeah dude, this guy is an awesome teacher. Phenominal individual.
Never thought much about harleys but damn this one is beautiful!
Demonwicked
I was the same, never cared for Harley’s much... but when I saw the Iron... I drooled, then bought a 2019 Denim Black Iron.
Same, but in my case it's the Fat Boy.
Since I ever rewatched T2 I wanted a Fat Boy so badly!
Pick up that can
I really like the Fat Bob
Yep, just bought a 2020 Denim Black last Tue., finally got to work on learning to ride it Sat., frickin' love this bike already. And I wasn't even really looking at Harley's I was planning on a Rebel 500 lol
pyre13 you made the right choice 👍
This guy is literally the best teacher ever!
You don't know how many times I stalled in traffic because I didn't release the clutch with ease. I remember your hand motion practice where you simulate the motion of releasing the clutch slowly while slowly applying throttle.
You've been a big help. Ride Wild!
*First day riding my first bike as of the time of this comment
This feels like an in person lesson. You are great at teaching.
I love the fact you rid for a bit at the end ,I love seeing how people who teach perform with the same tips ,especially a motorcycle
Got to say by far best beginner videos made because I'm wanting to learn to be able to ride next to my hubby as a surprise to him for our 10th anniversary so thank you for being thorough and explaining everything in detail while showing on the actual road too!
Man, thank you so much for these videos!
Just got my first 125 and here in Spain you can ride a 125cc with a normal B (car) driver's license, so I haven't had any formal training from a school or suchlike on how to ride a motorcycle.
Understanding the theory behind everything and having you properly explain all the safety measures really helps!
Any fool could jump on a bike and get going, but completely understanding the fundamentals, and how to drive safely is what separates a good driver from a bad one.
Props to you - much appreciated!
As a female who just bought her first bike I greatly appreciate this very detailed video. Often times the learn to videos leave a lot of questions. You done a fantastic job. Thank you
Bought my first bike a couple months ago, and riding season is finally here. So thankful I found your videos, watching them all before I pick up my scout.
I love the way you directing the camera, it's like you care about how we should see it happen not only hearing how to do it,, much kudos to you buddy can't thank you enough!
Thanks bro I'll have my first bike within the next 2 weeks and I am clueless and nervous. Now I'm looking forward to finding a parking lot. Cant wait 🙏🙌
BB blazin-bladez Blackwell how’s it going? How soon did the nerves go away? I’m getting one next week 😮
thatstheguy07 I’m getting one next week too
Erl Çela what are you getting?
I got one Saturday never driven a motorcycle nor a manual and I love it ! Just be careful out there
It's been 1 year, how's the bicke?
I am brand spanking new to riding. I am 6'1, 215lbs buying an Indian scout 20 1300cc 100hp as my first bike. Super helpful video dude!
great video blockhead explain a lot better than other instructors thumbs up
Thanks!
I know you've read this OVER AND OVER AND OVER, but thank you so much for your videos about how to ride. I bought my first motorcycle, hoping to learn. The dealer said it was impossible to stall the bike cuz it's only a 250. Welp, that was a lie, watched a few other videos and felt confident but didn't improve, kept stalling. Your videos have helped me put in the bike's first 100 miles without stalling once after viewing. Even had to get outve a sticky situation at a stop light with a car approaching from behind to aggressively, no problems at all. You've done an extremely admirable thing utilizing the skill of explaining to a newbie.
Bless you sir 🤙
Man, these videos should be shown to every beginner biker. I bought my first bike this week and I've been sponging up all the info available since. I got one of my buddies to teach me in a parking lot, but these videos are nice because they're relaxed and easy to follow. Well done sir.
Thanks Joe! Congrats on your first bike!
You were able to buy one without getting a license? How’d you get it home? My wife is letting me get one but I’d rather get the bike right away than spending 250 on a class.
best video I could find on shifting. you are a born teach man keep up the good work. having your video got me going on my bike
going for my motorcycle permit next week. never had friends to show me how to use clutch. never rode a dirt bike. you my friend helped me so so much thank you
Me and my father registered for motorcycle classes that give you your endorsement. It’s in about a month and I will continue to watch this so I can be top of the class. I am a bit nervous because the clutch and shifting is a bit complicated but you teach very well and it eased some of the confusion
how’d it go
👋hello, how did it go?
I'm looking into learning to ride since my brother and grandad do, and I love love love bikes, and your videos make it so much clearer for me! Thank you
Update? Did you get a bike?
I'm barely pulling the trigger on buying a bike. You have no idea how helpful this is. Thank you sir
I've always had so many questions about how to work the bike. You made it seem really simple.
13:41 when you let go of the handles my heart stopped
I just got out of my first motorcycle certification course (first day of practice) and after blubbering after it for an hour because I was frustrated that I didn't get everything immediately, I'm gonna watch all of these videos so I can have a snowballs chance in hell of passing the skills test tomorrow. Obviously this video is old, but it's super comprehensive and well put together. And you're a solid instructor. Kudos.
You are a brave man riding around in such a tourist heavy area. I’ve always wanted to learn to ride a bike, but living in that area of Florida scared me off. Awesome video!
Best motorcycle how to I’ve seen, very helpful thank you so much
Thank you from bottom of my heart now im on p1 motorcycle licence watching you showing us how to ride motorcycle it made it abit easy for me. On my p1 licence for 12 months and after that I'm on my full licence coz im over the age of 25 that's in n.s.w Australia. Much appreciated ❤
This has been an excellent 2 part series. Thank you very much.
This series of videos gave the confidence to purchase and really ride my first bike around 20 miles home today! Thank you very much 🙏🏼🙏🏼
I rode for only about a year almost 20 years ago. I came across this video while looking for what bike to buy after all these years. It was a great refresher and very informative. Thank you!
Glad I could help!
@@BlockheadMoto I appreciate your expertise.
A question: for a 6'3" beginner on a budget, what would you recommend between the Honda Rebel 500 and the Kawasaki Vulcan S? Thanks again!
@@Sm00thR0ckS both reliable brands. My usual recommendation is to ride both at a demo day or something and see which you like the most, and go with that one 👍🏼
Great instructor!!!! Beats the heck out of my man yelling at me without instructions..... I bought a Harley just for me, I'm 58 years old femaleand tired of being behind male egos. This is for ME!!! Thanks so much.

Get it GIRL!
@Hell's favorite NPC #69OU812 . exeI used the term "Ego" referring to particular male types that spend women's money easily enough yet still claim Superiority over women without a second thought or constructive contribution.
@@sunnydaye5942 not every man is a douchebag... Some of us actually treat our women like Queens 👑 😎
@@f8lfrogman good to know they do exist.
I am a 50 yo female, was a passenger for a little over a year, we broke up but I fell in love with riding but not going to go looking for someone to take me or let the breakup ruin it. I took to MSF course a few weeks ago and got my endorsement and about to buy a bike! These videos have been so incredibly helpful. His instruction style is spot on!
Man, thanks for taking the time and making this multiple videos beginner course, explaining everything and answering questions that everyone who decides to take up riding a motorbike might/will have on his/her mind.
I drove cars for over 25 years always waiting to sign up for getting a driving licence for a motorbike... waiting for almost a quarter of a century was enough time just dreaming about it and now I finaly made the step and decided to sign in our local driving school for getting a Motorbike driving license.
Your video(s) are great and answered a lot of questions that were going through my mind.
Thanks again, ride safe.... greetings from over the big pond outa Germany.
Long time viewer but new rider here - I take my MSF course this weekend and then I get to ride my '79 Kawasaki KZ650 SR - THE TIME HAS FINALLY COME
This has to be the best video for learning to ride that I have ever seen! Thank you for spending the time to do this!
Happy the vid helped you, thanks for the kind words!
@@BlockheadMoto This was very informative, you did an excellent job. If you're interested I suggest you consider looking into making courses. There's a growing demand for A to Z instructions on specific topics. Providing an Olympic routine of how to practice & reach a certain level of accomplishment. You obviously have the skill of teaching & that comes across with your attention to detail in clearly explaining how & why you do each articulate move. Teach, how to drive a motor cycle & how to operate fire arms. I haven't ridden in a while & wanted to refresh my memory so I watched this video. I appreciated your tips as you were driving off & pointed out issues while you were stopped in traffic. I think you'd have an additional income source if you connected with a legit mentor to guide you through the process of a successful protocol. How to effectively script, package, attract your audience, promote, launch, convert sales & gain a following with ongoing interests. Wishing you abundant Blessings!
This makes it way better to learn. Good job dude. I feel less intimidated
I've tried to watch several videos on beginner level of operating a bike and bro hands down I love your teaching style very detailed, thorough and concise. Thank you!
When I started riding I was so terrified of shifting and the next day after watching this, got on a bike and the rest is history. thanks so much!
hey Nicole, just saw that your msg is recent and wanted to check with you if the audio is not matching video in the middle parts of this clip or something wrong with my computer. It is very unfortunate as I am missing a lot of valuable information
First time rider, thank you for taking time to make this.
I don't have a motorcycle yet. Your video has inspired me to get one.
Thanks so much! I'm taking my class to get my license today and was super nervous that I would forget the basics that I learned in my class last year and this helped a lot!
