I agree, I just wish they would capitalize on the rich heritage that they have and refresh their bikes. I know the Iron 883 is a basic and purpose-built bike, but the demogaphic that purchases bikes like these are starting to demand more from the manufacturer in terms of rider aids and creature comforts. Indian does a very good job of this keeping these simple but very modern.
@@treverbouma6352 they aint offering it local any more but our local shop is offering FULL RETAIL ON TRADES!!! they are in some sort of competition to sell the most local bikes.
Saw this video a year ago but got an R7. Still wanted the 883 so I got a 2019 two weeks ago and I agree 100% with your 5 reasons to owning an Iron 883. Now both bikes meet my needs whenever I wanna cruise or simply feel “fast”. No need to go past 130 for me, to each it’s own, as long as we all make it back home. Thanks for sharing this video.
I like the black but I wouldn't mind this color also. It looks great. Has that military look, seriously thinking of getting one...first bike. Can't stop watching 883 videos on youtube.
I'm 61, have owned several bikes from a Honda CD 175 back in late 70's through a Laverda monjuic and RGS 1000, to my current 2011 Thruxton 900, but never a Harley. These videos are seriously making me want one, just for that sound. An 883 or 48 is on the horizon, before I'm too old.
It's a beautiful bike. I have a 2021 Deadwood Green 883 Iron. In my 48 years of riding all types of bikes (Japanese, European and U.S, 175cc - 1600cc) I consider it one of the nicest looking bikes I've owned. In addition, with mid controls, it fits me (5'6") well ergonomically and with forward controls would be a good fit for taller riders. It has respectable power and cruising at 70-80 mph is no sweat.
I love an streetglide or roadglide when I get my licsence but I think it would be to heavy as an beginner. Could you recommend as an beginner, is it forgiving for the beginning drivers?
I've been on the fence of getting my motorcycle license for years now. Decided to take the leap and enroll in the MSF and I sat on an iron 883 today. It was exceptionally comfy and I'd mainly use it for commuting. Looks like a good, mellow ride :) thanks for the video! I think this is what I'm ultimately gonna shoot for.
All depends on your ride style, it can be mellow but you can also make it a monster, to be honest I ride the shit out of mine I have a 2019 that has black denim paint, I’ve done the intake the pipes tuner, bars grips trims lights lmao but it is a lot of fun
@Mark Andrews an iron 883 is kind of a small bike to be honest, and comes stock with mid controls for your feet, which is a perfect setup for a shorter person, off the top of my head weight is somewhere around 600 pounds as to a big Harley weighs around 8-900,
@Mark Andrews she could easily ride my brothers Harley and his is around 850 pounds, yes it is a lot of weight but you’d be surprised what your legs can hold up, the biggest thing I can say is don’t let it worry you, pay attention and always be open to learning tips of riding, I originally bought a 1971 sportster which was an iron head and pretty much the same as the newer 883 but you shifted with your right foot instead of your left, that was the bike I learned to ride on, no endorsement we I started out, brought bike home got on it and rode down the street, continued from there sold that bike and bought my 2019 easiest way to get an endorsement is do your practice then find a place that uses scooters for road test
It was the one Harley that caught my eye when I rode sport bikes.... And then finally I got one recently. Very happy with it around town. Ride highway every now and again
And here’s a thought, it doesn’t have to be your first bike, you know, the bike you get first, the first bike you learn on, sort of like number one, the first bike you get! You can actually keep it forever because they’re so good they don’t have to be your first bike!
First off: looks. Man, that has always been one of my favorite platforms. Had one years ago and if I ever get out of debt, may get another one. So much you can do to one.
I'll be getting my 2017 Iron 883 in matte black as my first bike as well for $5k and this video makes me even more stoked to bring it home and begin modifying it as well. Cheers from the 915
This has always been my favourite Harley Davidson. I remember the 1984 XLX-61. It has very similar styling. I remember the introduction of the 883 in 1986 Sportsters are beautiful bikes... simple, uncluttered, classic styling.. Love this video 😎
I’ve got this bike, had it for 6 months now. Put 3700 miles on it. The only problem with it is its power. It would cost me a fraction of the price to get the 1200 upgrade kit for the motor than buy another.
Man your Bike sounds awesome! I had an Iron 883 myself in germany and I can tell ya the prices went absolute CRAZY. Since the sportsters are not allowed to be sold new anymore in the EU because of emission restrictions, the 2020 model was the last one to be sold new here. Dealerships are not allowed to sell the 2021 model. Therefore the prices for used bikes did explode completly. I sold my used but near new 2020 iron 883 with 700 miles on it for 12900 Euro in mai 2021, which is something about 15.000 dollars right now! And there was no expensive customizing on it, was completly stock
Nice machine. Very nice. Never gave a HD serious consideration as a potential next ride but, the sound and the aesthetics are undeniably addictive. Enjoy!
I just spent the day on a rented 2016 Iron 883 and it was a blast. It's narrow and lightweight compared to, say, a Shadow 750, which makes it very approachable, and it has a fun kick of torque available at lower speeds. Here's the thing: It's a VISCERAL experience to ride. If vibrates like crazy (but smooths out for a bit between 50-65MPH), shifting gears gives you a loud, solid CLUNK every time, and the ENGINE is noisy - not unpleasant sound, but you are 100% aware that there are a whole bunch of components in it doing their thing. For a ~150 mile day of bombing down backroads exploring, it's a hoot. I would no recommend it if you're someone who frequently takes longer rides (very comfy seat though). I'll stick with my Shadow 750 Aero for the type of riding I do, but I look forward to the next time I can throw a leg over a Sportster. I need to try the 1200 next!
Best thing about the 883 is 2 passes thru the cylinders with a boring bar removes about a 1/2" of iron, a couple of wiseco 9.5 to 1 compression big bore pistons and you got a bike with some serious grunt, about doubling the power of the stock 883 wich is now 1200+ ! Also drops about 5lbs of high center of gravity weight for better corner scratching and the thinner cylinders run cooler, did mine before the first oil change was due and it hasn't missed a beat in almost 30, 000 mi and I never get tired of twisten the throttle.
I used to have a 883. Now I have a bigger Harley but I damn sure miss that 883 for everyday riding. I think I'll save the bike I have now just for touring and start looking for another 883 for everyday riding.
Got a 2017 Iron 883 in January 2021, for $ 5 500.00, 6 000 Miles on the clock and Bone stock. No upgrades yet. I use it as a daily city Bike. Easier to Ride in Traffic than my Heritage Bagger or my CrossBones Bobber. It’s light, inexpensive and a lot of fun! I personally wouldn’t do the 1250 Conversion. Expensive to do in my Country. Cheaper to just go find a used low mileage 1200 or ‘48 Thanks for the Great Content! Regards from South Africa 🤘
Got the street job as my first bike and I’m so glad I did! Put 16k+ miles on it on 1.5 yrs. Having that 6th gear and extra power is worth the price point IMO. I’m about 5’8 and I flat foot the bike easily with my saddlemen step up seat.
Your #3 was my #1 Saw her and fell in love the very same second. My #2 is the history. If that is your first bike, I think you made an excellent decision. I've been riding for several hundred years, and if this sweet ride was available when I started, I would have snatched it up. That freaking bad-ass green color is.... well, bad ass. That is a beautiful ride. Cheers!
Great video. Couldn't agree more with your 5 reasons to own a Iron 883. One item I am looking at is my age. 61 years old and our touring bike is heavy. I am longing to return to the simplicity of just riding. The 883 is just the perfect bike to just ..ride.
Hey I've gone from a Ducati to a Ninja to a Harley Davidson over the last few years. I choose the Street 500 as an affordable entry level Harley. Five months later I'm eyeing off an 883 and absolutely love the old school look. Love the way you describe it as "two wheels, a moto and a seat". I'll hopefully be able to trade my Street and upgrade to an 883 eary in the new year.
i got an iron883 about 3 weeks ago and i absolutely love it! it's not the fastest but its def. so much fun! its also a lot more comfortable than what i anticipated it to be. aha.
That color is sick, and becoming sought after. Keep it! Thanks for the vid. Totally agree with your points; I only lasted 3 weeks with my 883 before jumping to a 1200. If I was to do it again, I’d go straight to the 1200 as they’re really not THAT different. Either way, such a great bike.
GETWRENCHD hey before you do, I highly recommend getting the pulleys changed first. It will be a much cheaper way of getting what you really want out of it. Parts and tons of info on this site: www.883sportster.com/whichpulley
Hans Zimmer honestly the 1250/1275 kit will only inflate ego. And it will, because it’s fast as hell. But if you love the 883, that 31/66 pulley kit involves no modification to the belt and will drop your 70mph engine speed to about 3300, which is lovely.
@@TigerDavidson Morgan, thank you again very much! I´ll leave mine (mostly) stock for the time being but if i want to change something in the future i now know a bit more thanks to you :o)
I’m creeping around too, I usually hear people get sick of it quick. But I’m 150 lbs 5’8 look great on it. Would get to cruise around town show up to friends houses. Conflicted lol
exactly my thoughts, tho #1 doesnt quite apply to where i come from, coz vehicles are generally expensive in my country, even used ones. I couldn't agree more with you on the other 4 reasons. Bought my Iron 883 2 months ago as my first bike and absolutely loving every bit of it! Not gonna deny it was a wee bit of a struggle the first time i rode the bike (taking into consideration the last time i rode a bike was more than 20 years ago), but after a couple of rides it got so easy!
Minhas razões! Harley tem o meu estilo, acho uma moto altamente customizável, a 883 é muito dinâmica na estrada e cidade, o consumo é baixo relativo a potência que ela entrega! Ótimo vídeo!
Or the 6th reason too buy the best looking Harley Davidson in decades, it's the end of the line, their collectors items. Sadly the best looking bike on the market won't be in production anymore as of today. 01/07/2021 financial year marks the end of the Iron 883 & all Sportsters. End of a era, sadly for all the tyre kickers out there they can only look & drool as the rest of us make noise as we rumble on down the road. I'm sad about this but I'm lucky enough to own one of the best machines Harley Davidson ever designed. Love my Iron. Maybe in 10 years I may sell it to you for more than I paid, but somehow I think it'll be with me a long time.
That color! Love the graphics HD used back then on the tank too! I also chose the 883 as a first bike and super pleased with it so far. I got it brand new off the showroom floor with 5 miles on it. Bought it October 15th and haven’t had a single day yet that I can ride without at least a jacket on. Can’t wait for 70+ degrees again! I agree with how easy it is to ride! Excellent to start on IMO. Heck, I’ll probably never get a “bigger “ bike honestly? I’m sure that one day I’ll add some hammer performance mods to it and squeeze as much power from it as I can but that’s down the road and the amount of hp and torque people are getting out of the 883 with the available mods is way more than anything I’ll ever have use for honestly. Looooove my black denim, 2020, iron 883!!!
Its the bike I want if I could get one. Wanted one since I was a child..54 this year and no bike. Being disabled and having no money makes getting a bike a tad difficult :)
I would have to respectfully disagree. I bought a Honda Reb 500 NEW out the door for 6500 bucks with warranty the whole nine yards. The only thing I would have to concede on is the sound. There is no argument with the sound of a 883. However the 883 air cooled makes 42 Hp the Reb 500 liquid cooled makes 50 hp. With the money you save with slip on's the sound is improved tremendously same aesthetics, same style same look. No oil leaks Honda reliability no problems. Your just paying more for a name that's it. But if you chose a 883 good for you as long as your on two wheels and getting out there. More power to you.
I really dig my SG which was my first street bike but want an iron just for the simple fact when I just want to go for a quick ride down along the beach it’s easier to pull outta the garage.
I've owned 2 of them...First one i bought was my first bike. Just bought another one....2019 under 7k 😊 only 1580 miles... Awesome Bikes.... Cool Retro,... Marlon Brando and Steve McQueen Style of 😎 Cool.
Interesting take. Could I request a follow-up here in a few years for after you've ridden a while and tried some other types of machines? Not knocking your machine or trying to talk down, I'm just curious if your perspective changes.
Thankyou for this great video, I've been looking on market place new Zealand for a black denim iron 883 because I've watched several videos & i love the classic style & i think it would be perfect for my height 5ft 6 & my medium build 😊
Working on my Bucket List and finally got my Harley Sportster, a 2014 Matt Black 883 Iron with only 1600 miles on it, in August 2020. I absolutely love it! I have only had one issue with it, the battery cover fell off...I have a forward shifter on it, so never even felt the cover come off. Did some research and found out it's a common issue. I was going to order a new one through H.D. online, only to find out it would be at least a two month wait because it was being shipped from China. WTF I thought Harley's were American Made. I will have a new cover custom made here in the States, so I can at least say it is American made...lol. I'm ready to start customizing it a bit, for starters some type of windshield to help break the wind force against my chest, but I don't want to lose my sporty look... Any suggestions?
Is there anyway you can attach the types of pipes and seat you have? I just bought a new iron 883 and I love it. Llve your pipes and seat too Wouls really love it of I knew where to find them
Hey, really loved your video. It was just what I was looking for since I'm thinking about returning to biking after 20 years and the iron 883 is what I'm currently looking at. Just have a couple of questions if you don't mind. How are the brakes and handling? I'm not intending to go flat out just leasurely rides and in my country we don't have too many straight long roads since it's a pretty small country (Malta, EU). Also I've read online that they drip oil from the air cleaner due to a blowback pipe or something. Do you have issues with oil dripping on your pipes/right leg? Thanks in advance and great video + bike
I have a 2019 iron 883. No issues with dripping oil. It's not the fastest bike but it can go easily up to highway speeds. It's best from 0 to 65mph. After 70mph it's just up to you. Plenty of mods out there.
One week ago I bought the 2021 iron 883 with the river rock denim gray. Now I need forward controls passenger pegs and two up seat. I must say I love the pipes and air breather on your bike. Could you send me the name of pipes n air breather you have? What site? Mine is all factory right now off show room floor no customizations yet

I've got my eye on the 1275 kit from Hammer Performace, that might be the big upgrade next year!
GETWRENCHD hey before you do, I highly recommend getting the pulleys changed first. It will be a much cheaper way of getting what you really want out of it.
Parts and tons of info on this site:
www.883sportster.com/whichpulley
@@TigerDavidson Thanks for the Link and the info! Very much appreciated!
About to sell my bike and was looking at the iron 883 and came across your video I must say am in love with it. I love the bopper style.
I'm in the same spot I want to buy my frist bike this month and I love Sportster 883
Nice bike! I like the color a lot too. My first bike was a 2004 Sportster 1200 R. Loved it and want to get another Sportster.
Minhas razões! Harley tem o meu estilo, acho uma moto altamente customizável, a 883 é muito dinâmica na estrada e cidade, o consumo é baixo relativo a potência que ela entrega! Ótimo vídeo!
They are a workhorse of a bike, that are very easy to ride. Great video man
Thanks 👍
Just bought my 2019 iron 883 today🤘🏽
Put DB killers, sound will be more softer
Sweet Congrats! It’s a great bike! Stay safe!
I already got one so this is 5 reason a I made the right choice
Awesome vid im switching from sportbikes to a harley and this is the one that stands out to me as well....cheers
I currently have quite a bit of money set aside for this bike and I want this bike so bad and I am determined do get it. I love everything about it🤘💀🤘
I'm on a 125 , my keeway k light is my first step into cruiser dom....and this is my dream bike . Love the exhaust sound ommmggg
Congratulations on a sweet bike man. Gotta love sportsters!
I was hoping to here a bit on its weight from a standstill. Nice bike.
Damn.. what an amazing route. every time i looked up it was some awesome landscape or crazy cloud filled blue sky!
I like the way you hooked up the mirrors.
Man the 883 so nice but when they're only $500 cheaper new compared to the 1200 in Australia why would you choose it?
Watching this in July of 22' and the cheapest 883 I can find near me from an independent seller is 7500. Most are running 9k to 10k used.
I really dig my SG which was my first street bike but want an iron just for the simple fact when I just want to go for a quick ride down along the beach it’s easier to pull outta the garage.
Beautiful bike.. i love that colour & the radius pipes as well
Nice bike. I am hoping to get an Iron soon. Love em!
Love the simplicity of this bike
Very nice , I’ve had several motorcycles but I’m still drawn to this model…
Sweet! Great bike! Nice music! Well done 👍
I've owned 2 of them...First one i bought was my first bike.
Just bought another one....2019 under 7k 😊 only 1580 miles...
Awesome Bikes.... Cool Retro,... Marlon Brando and Steve McQueen Style of 😎 Cool.
awesome bike man! im 5'11 and 250lbs. im still intimidated by the weight of harleys. surely after i take my msf cours, ill be much more confident
Interesting take. Could I request a follow-up here in a few years for after you've ridden a while and tried some other types of machines? Not knocking your machine or trying to talk down, I'm just curious if your perspective changes.
Just saw this video. Great looking motorcycle brother!!
I got a 2019 fxlr but you bout to talk me into that 883 especially with those pips. Cool bike brother.
Thankyou for this great video, I've been looking on market place new Zealand for a black denim iron 883 because I've watched several videos & i love the classic style & i think it would be perfect for my height 5ft 6 & my medium build 😊
Great video.Great SOUND of the motor it self, great profesional Visio , makes me want to buy my first moto.
Very nice bike my friend that will be my first one too very soon keep enjoying it .
Now i want to upgrade to Street Glide cvo.. And also im looking for new owner my lovely iron 883 (stage2)... Salute.. From Lone Wolf 🇲🇾 Malaysia
Broooooo that Olive Gold finish looks super sexy on that little Harley .
Crazy the first thing I thought when seeing the iron 883 was classic simple and tough. I'm onboard with it. Good bike man.
Great video man. Looking at getting an 883 within the year. If you don’t mind me asking what do you pay to insure the 883?
This is beautiful bike I'm about to get my this weekend
This is nice video. Thanks, dude. Now i am gonna get my own 883.
I just got a rebel 300 and would love to get an iron 883 in the future…I want to test ride one at the least
Very nice. Have same one, but bone stock. Did you change gas tank for larger? Handlebars stock?
Love 😮the looks of this bike what modifications did you do to make it look like that
Working on my Bucket List and finally got my Harley Sportster, a 2014 Matt Black 883 Iron with only 1600 miles on it, in August 2020.
I have a 2004, put a Memphis shades detachable windshield on it, 15 inch high. It works well and isn't a big ass thing.
@@larrysimmons9732 Thank You, I will definitely check it out...
Very nice looking bike 👍, no e, no-nonsense video - thanks.
Nothin like clicking random vidoes and seeing someone riding through the streets you drive on all the time
Is there anyway you can attach the types of pipes and seat you have? I just bought a new iron 883 and I love it. Llve your pipes and seat too
Wouls really love it of I knew where to find them
My God man that is a beautiful bike. I’m in the market for the 883 would love to find that same color!
I’ve owned 2 sportster 1200s and 1 883. Go for 1200, the best thing about an 883 is the sound. It’s slow .
This was an awesome video. I definitely want one now.
HD 883 Iron 2021 , just 600 miles ( for sale $9,000 ).
Number 6 sounds better than the M8 without doing any modifications to it other than exhaust
I love my 2019 883. I traded in my Motto Guzzi V7 because it was just a bit too tall for me.
My wife surprised me today with a 2022 883 as a valentine’s Day gift
hi, can you give the info for the mufflers please? i would like to purchase some like them. thanks.
You just sold me on this, this is the day I decided
Nice review and what was the park you rode into?
Beautiful bike, sounds awesome
Think of getting my first bike I’m locked in on the iron 883 but my new question is will it fit me right standing 6’2?
Why is everyone on the left line? Do you have any rules in the US? Like, stay closer to the right side of the road whenever possible?
I would, but they're almost 10k usd in my country, and I'm not putting down that amount of cash for an entry level Harley.
Will be buying 2022 model by this month thanks
