It’d be awesome if they added Luigi’s misadventures as a side mode similar to how the Mario & Luigi remakes had added side modes
i agree with you id love to see luigi get his own adventure just like the mario and luigi remakes but id also be ok with a boss gauntlet like in bug fables id love to be able to re fight the game’s bosses or maybe even their x forms which are harder versions of them like in bug fables and mario and luigi as id be really excited to re fight the games bosses or harder versions of them

I know this is very unlikely, but since there appears to be at least some slightly new additions to the game, like that purple toad in Glitzville, I'd love to see them re-add the rest of the OG Paper Mario partners cameo appearances. Data from the original game revealed that they all had unused sprites and all of them except Parakarry and Bow were removed. This would be a great opportunity to add them back in, as well as add more nods to the OG game! We could find Goombario on vacation with his family in Glitzville, or Kooper with a team of Kolorado's archaeologists looking for treasure on Keelhaul Key!

One thing I wanna see is Prince Mush added in as an extra boss in Glitzvile! He was the first champion so I think it'd be neat to fight a super tough toad like The Master in 64!

For one, It means all the stylistic choices (such as the removal of the white outlines) were decisions made by them and shows that they are definitely hearing fans complaints.
Two, Working on this remake will mostly likely remind them what was good about TTYD and they’ll take more inspiration from it for the next entry
No. It's a decision from the top that Paper Mario is not supposed to be an RPG anymore but an adventure game.
People will probably still not like a new game in that style as much as TTYD. It's gotten such a cult loyalist fanbase that I fear even if it did get sequels like it people would still say "It's no TTYD" regardless
@@projectpitchfork860 decisions from “the top” are constantly changing. A few years ago they probably wouldn’t even have considered remaking this game. And if they were so set on it remaining an adventure game, I don’t think they’d be remaking this one. Sticker Star sold like double what TTYD did, so why not remake that one?

I feel like the slower version of Peach’s theme will only play during certain cut scenes, like when TEC is asking her to teach him what love is.
I'm loving how much the lighting adds to each room. The giant Creepy Steeple window looks so cool.
It seems like they increased the audience crowd size in the Glitz pit; Always felt it was too sparse. Makes it feel more like real WWE.

Biggest hope with this…it causes a resurgence in THIS style of paper Mario games so we can FINALLY get a true new Paper Mario game.
No matter how you much you hate it, the latest paper mario games are still paper mario, they are just less rpg likes
@@star-rock6466...Sticker Star aside, Color Splash and Origami King are still decent, it is just that many fans miss the fun RPG format, and especially since Nintendo has no running RPG series at the moment save the two remakes; furthermore, Nintendo's refusal of making original characters and unique NPC and enemy designs also bothers people. The fact that Nintendo is stolid in this and not wanting to listen to fan feedback adds fuel to this anger.

Or at the very least, a remake of Paper Mario 64, which I think would be pretty cool. It's aged fairly well, but it wouldn't be a bad thing for it to get one, at least in my opinion.
The Purple Glitzville Toad gives me hope that you can now actually face Prince Mush in battle at some point. The original mentioned him planning a comeback in the Glitzpit in one of the emails, but you could never fight him
The soundtrack getting remade entirely is one of the things I'm hyped about the most. The original one as well as Super Paper Mario have some of the quirkest and weirdest (in a good way!) OSTs out there, oftentimes you don't even know if what you're hearing is a synthesizer or a rubber duck. The composers deserve a lot more credit! =D

Surprised you didn't point out that the coin counter implies you can have 4 digits now instead of 3 (so the max number of coins might no longer be 999). But this seemingly having a larger window from announcement to release than mario RPG tells me this isn't as far into development so a lot of things are subject to change. I wouldn't be surprised if Goldbob and his family aren't completed yet hence why they aren't shown in Glitzville and i'd be surprised if they moved their spot.
This is my favorite game of all time. All those days I spent "sick" and home from school, this was the reason right here. This is so amazing. My favorite part for some reason is the fact of all the sprites having backsides now. Plus the emotions. I can't wait to hear "We're Counting On You, Mario!!"
I was obsessed with that track (and that part of the game as a whole) when I was a kid
if you look real closely, you can spot that crump also has a backsprite as he turns in Magnus von Grapple and the traveling toad sisters also changed locations slightly.
Lastly in Twilight town we see 3 pigs including the transforming one at the beginning while in the original there was at least 1 villager who did not yet had turned into a pig so only 2 pigs should have been there at that time
This was the first game I got for the Gamecube for my 10th birthday,nfrom landing on Rogueport to the Shadow Queen every step was memorable. This will be the best game ever made and you can't change my mind.

One preference I have is that I wish they kept the original battle music. Besides that, this game seriously has the potential to be Game of The Year! That's how good this 2004 game is. It would be one for the history books.
Mario RPG lets you toggle between the new arrangements and the original soundtrack. I'd be surprised if TYD doesn't have the same option.

About the piantas in rogueport I believe they likely changed the sequence because the game is now widescreen. In the original game, the piantas don't act until the camera moves to the right to show Toadsworth, as the exact place that happens is slightly off-screen. In the remake, as it is widescreen, you can see a bit more to both sides so now it can happen without the camera needing to pan to the right
About Peach’s theme sounding more slowed down, I think that’s because in the original game, Peach’s theme actually IS slowed down, or rather, a different version of Peach’s theme plays during the cutscene after the Shadow Queen is defeated. I think that’s the version we hear used in the trailer for the TEC cutscene.
In the actual game, however, we’ll most likely hear a remake of Peach’s regular, upbeat theme during her segments, so that’s worth looking forward to. 😉
Not enough people are talking about the possibility that because this trailer was made from a beta build of the game, that could explain why characters such as Fire Emblem toad are currently missing
Wow i know i loved this game but i didn't think i'd be getting kinda teary eyed watching this. There are so many strong memories from my childhood that come up whenever i play this, i cannot wait to play it again on the switch!
@22:55 there's a small detail I'd only just noticed, but if you look at the stained glass mural, the eyes of Doo_liss actually follow Mario as he walks. I cannot even express how much I love that
i don't think they're following Mario specifically. i think they're just inset behind the wall, creating a parallax effect.

I actually didn't realize October 11th is the on point original release for TTYD in North America, but that just fits in even better with my thoughts on the remake's release. Luigi's Mansion 2 HD had a release window of Summer 2024. That in mind, with TTYD remake only said 2024, which makes me think that if it was to release any earlier than Summer 2024, it probably would've mentioned it.
Also it's kinda cool that they really kept ALL the details, including the poster in the Glitz Pit of the Bulky Bob-omb, despite such enemy not even being in the Glitz Pit.
I was literally in the middle of my Game Development Theory class lecture when I first saw this (the Direct itself started about half an hour before class), and it took me EVERYTHING I HAD to prevent myself from yelling out with joy. That didn’t stop me from smiling VERY PROUDLY, nodding my head happily, tapping my foot to the nostalgic music, and rocking back and forth in my seat, because the simple fact that Nintendo even remembers Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door AT ALL makes me REALLY, REALLY HAPPY! Has it seriously been almost 20 years since I first laid hands on the original game at my local McDonald’s as a kid (and about 7 years since I finally beat the original game for the very first time)? Welp, no wonder I remember the game's intro music and title theme so well…

XD Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door was actually the very FIRST Nintendo game I EVER laid my hands on at around 5-7 years old at McDonald's of all places (I was 5 when the game originally came out in 2004). Playing the game at McDonald's wasn't a GREAT way to play though, because their GameCube consoles DIDN'T have memory cards AND they rebooted every 10-15 minutes with a blue screen (meaning I could BARELY get to the Rogueport Sewers each time). It WAS a fun time just getting to play this game every chance I could at McDonald's though (just running around swinging a hammer EVERYWHERE I could go), and THIS was the main way in which I was able to lock the character of Super Mario into my memory at a very young age. To think that the VERY SAME GAME that made me LOVE Mario and Nintendo in the first place is now being remade on the year of its 20th ANNIVERSARY (following a time in which the Paper Mario series REALLY went through a DARK AGE)............ that's just UNBELIEVABLY AMAZING.
I can only pray the original soundtrack is included as a bonus 🙏

Getting a remake of my favorite game of all time is one of those things that I've always tried to hope for but not expect. I almost can't believe it's actually happening, and I'm amazed at the effort they clearly put into it. This video is fantastic, I love seeing so many details and changes pointed out that I missed! This game is going to be fantastic, i can't wait for it to release
I would like 60fps especially since the OG had that but I'd rather have a stable 30 given the Switch's trouble with having a consistent framerate on some games recently. If we can get a stable 60 then fantastic but I don't want it if it'll be choppy cause that'll just sower first impressions. I know many will disagree but that's just how I feel personally, I want a smooth experience revisiting this game not a horrible one.

I'm pretty sure that "small set of rectangles" in the Puni bubble scene is actually a puni counter, showing how many Punis are on the platform (currently 00) rather than just random rectangles showing Mario where to stand.

Charm is immeasurable, so that's probably nostalgia. Energy? Maybe just the sound mixing and instrumental choice. I like both.

Nope, not just you. OG Petal Meadows and Battle theme are much more present and vibrant than the new ones. Though Title Screen and Bowser's Castle are better in the Switch version. So it's 50:50 for me. Curious how the other Boss themes turn out as well.
I think the old soundtrack used more synths or electric-sounding instruments, while the new one still uses some of those but also much more real instruments.

I’m honestly surprised enemies like Dry Bones and Boos weren’t given their modern design, since enemies were modernized in Super Mario RPG. Same with Bowser’s voice, surprisingly, especially since we haven’t heard him in a while

There's no modern design.
Boos look no different now than they did in Mario 3, the Paper Mario design is from Yoshi's Island...as in it was different from the regular design even back then.
The Dry Bone variants is UNIQUE to Paper Mario, so they wouldn't change it to begin with.

Going off of where PM64's title theme was used in the trailer, I'm betting (and hoping) it'll be used in the beginning when Mario gets Peach's letter.
Also, I wonder if the "Fire Emblem Kid" will have new dialogue that references games on the Switch. I'm betting he'll mention something like Splatoon, but he'll definitely still talk about FE, probably Engage.
Theirs 2 ways to do it, either he's still an FE stan, or he will talk about a different series that needs marketing help.
I know my opinion might not be the most popular one, but I genuinely have strong feelings for the original music in the game. The original soundtrack had this seamless quality, like it was tailor-made to fit every moment. There were no flashy special effects or over-the-top elements that made it feel out of place or exaggerated. In contrast, the remastered soundtracks come across as a bit too forceful, as if they're trying too hard to be fresh and new for the sake of it.
Don't get me wrong, the remastered tracks are good but what made the original music in TTYD so special was its inherent brilliance in design. The redesign almost feels like an attempt to fix a problem that didn't exist by making it sound more flamboyant.
I can already tell there's going to be a lot of "SpongeBob wrong notes" memes for this game after it drops.
The new soundtrack feels like it's just trying to look good for a presentation and cool and flashy and shiny and that's it. It just doesn't serve the original well.
Yeah, i hope there's an option in the final game to toggle between new and old music. Honestly I wouldn't mind the new music if i could switch between them, I kinda admittedly love the new Bowser theme. Just not really a fan of any of the others. I'd probably alternate between soundtracks every other playthrough.
I hope they stick with the GameCube version of the soundtrack in the release. The choice of instruments and stylization in the remake sounds off, especially compared to the GameCube version.

It’s great that not only are they rereleasing this game, but also remastering it, by improving things that felt off in the original, such as how not only Mario and Peach have back sprites, how the pigs in Twilight Town now are paper-like instead of being actual pigs (I just felt that was kind of weird okay), the fact that characters are now more expressive (one of the few things you could say the new Paper Mario’s improved on the old one) which help make them feel more alive and less like actual pieces of paper, and probably others, such as making Luigi’s L in his hat be the right way.
I wonder if there are going to be any significant changes, since this game will take four years to make, cause I thought for a remake, it would of only take two or three years to make, so there probably will be maybe a new adventure, if you remember the ending of the original (I know it was really just meant to be a joke, but I feel that’s the reason why people have been demanding for a proper Thousand-Year Door sequel).

It will be four years since The Origami King, but Intelligent Systems has also made Fire Emblem Engage and the two WarioWare games in the meantime. I'm sure they have different teams within the studio, but we don't know their inner workings and if they shift people around on projects. It's hard to say for sure that they've been working on this remaster for the full four years. I wouldn't get your hopes up too high for extra content.
Im curious if they are adding more unique designs in this remake maybe Nintendo is allowing for Paper Mario developers to take creative liberties with their IPs again.

Oh boy I'm so excited to play this again. Even though I still have my original Gamecube copy, I don't think I've actually played it in at least 15 years. I know sometimes nostalgia makes you think something was better than it really is. However, after watching this video, I think this game will actually be BETTER than my memories of it!

I REALLY hope there's new, meaningful gameplay content added to this remake. I personally never buy remakes that just improve the graphics and nothing else. I am currently more interested in the Super Mario RPG remake because the new content has been confirmed and elaborated on. Hopefully in a future showcase of the TTYD remake they will talk about new content because I think the initial trailer for Super Mario RPG didn't mention a single thing about there being new content. That purple toad is the most exciting thing to me about the entire reveal lol.
Can you show me where the super Mario RPG details have been elaborated on?
I'd note that it looks like the characters are made of thick pieces of paper, thick enough that you can see the layered pieces (the gloves are most noticeable, but the boots/feet also has this effect.
I'd also note that it isn't always separate pieces of paper that has this effect; Animal critter arms which do not have a full outline can still be seen overlapping on top of the rest of the body they are connected to, once pass the point where they are connected (and thus is still 1 single piece of paper)
Great breakdown man clearly this is a full on remake. I’m hyped to see the rest of the changes as we play the game in its entirety.
If the first Paper Mario game gets a remake, maybe all of the party members will have the shock expressions just like Yoshi and Goombella in this remake.
The only thing I'm still REALLY hoping they add is some kind of pipe or something between Creepy Steeple and Twilight Town

Unless you mean add it after Doopliss is bested. That could work.

If you watch the trailer released in Japan via the JP Nintendo Direct or on Nintendo JP’s channel, the footage is *slightly* different and actually does have that Koopa on the left *and* the right side of the bridge…? It’s possible it’s just early footage, but it’s something I thought was neat to point out.

I love how the world is a pop-up book style made out of construction paper. I always thought that the next big paper Mario game should use pop-ups style as a gimmick. So I'm basically getting exactly what I want with this.

32:41 The superguard twirl is much slower than in the original. He only turns twice instead of four or five times before. I gotta say, I don't like the change and I think it looks sluggish by comparison. Maybe the fast spinning didn't look right after the transition to 30 fps? It's a bit unfortunate, but it's really a minor nitpick. I'm loving how this game looks overall and I'm super excited to play it!

Also would like some quality of life stuff. Like cooking. Once a recipe is known, maybe just pick the item from chef list (greyed out if you don't have the items). Also maybe a quantity added. Before you would have to press start, go to the right and look up the recipe.
I hope they include the option to use the original ost like in smrpg remake. I prefer the original soundtrack a lot more.
